Skip Unnecessary Public Land Mobile Networks For Data-Only Subscriber Identity Module, Shih-Che Chou, Shivank Nayak
Skip Unnecessary Public Land Mobile Networks For Data-Only Subscriber Identity Module, Shih-Che Chou, Shivank Nayak
Defensive Publications Series
A user equipment (UE) employing a data-only subscriber identity module (SIM) is configured to ignore or skip non-preferred public land mobile networks (PLMNs). For example, the UE is restricted to a predefined list of (preferred) PLMNs stored at the UE. When the UE determines that a registered PLMN or a home PLMN is not available, the UE compares available PLMNs (if any) to the predefined list of PLMNs. If an available PLMN is identified as a preferred PLMN based on the predefined list of PLMNs, the UE selects and attempts to register on the PLMN. However, if no available PLMNs …

Link Rate Auto Negotiation Between Ecpri Iwfs In 5g/Lte-A Fronthaul/Xhaul Packet Network, Prashant Anand, Manoj Kumar
Defensive Publications Series
The enhanced Common Public Radio Interface (eCPRI) specification presents a probabilistic method for link rate negotiation in an eCPRI and Common Public Radio Interface (CPRI) interworking scenario which gets further complicated and more time consuming due to presence of two interim CPRI links and one fronthaul network path, generally resulting in multiple iterations of CPRI negotiations in the interim links. To address these types of challenges techniques are presented herein that support, among other things, bringing the eCPRI link rate negotiation on par with the rate negotiation which is employed in a direct point-to-point connected CPRI link so that, among …

Software often generates lengthy and difficult-to-recall alphanumeric identifiers, e.g., b23fc5a0a2bd3c964910c47f6a3252bffa146. Examples of such identifiers include links to documents or web-resources, entries in databases, digital signatures, etc. The length and the seemingly arbitrary construction of the identifier makes it difficult for a human user, e.g., a programmer, to identify, memorize, or compare. This disclosure describes techniques that map lengthy alphanumeric strings to easy-to-recall icons and/or colors. The map can be a deterministic, many-to-one function, e.g., a hashing function.

Particulates Neutralization Airbag Retainer, Anonymous
Defensive Publications Series
An airbag retainer has sidewalls that are constrained to less than ninety degrees from the base and may have an additional terminal end feature. An additional flange or hook feature at the base of the retainer can also be implemented. The sidewalls and the optional flange/hook reduce the size, velocity, and temperature of effluent particulates discharged from an airbag inflator, which helps neutralize the particulates against damaging the airbag fabric. The sidewall angle and the use of an additional flange or hook can be tuned to maximize the particulates neutralization.
Application Of K-D Trees For The Implementation Of A Rule Engine, Mirko Rossini
Application Of K-D Trees For The Implementation Of A Rule Engine, Mirko Rossini
Defensive Publications Series
Applications that involve functions requiring choosing a rule from a set of prespecified rules typically employ rule engines that apply suitable algorithms, such as the Rete algorithm, to select the most appropriate rule from the rule set. However, such algorithms do not scale well for large rule sets and are unsuitable for handling real-time rule selection. This disclosure describes a rule engine that operates by mapping the set of rules as nodes within a K-D tree. The mapping requires that each rule be represented geometrically as a point in an N-dimensional space by considering the ranges created by intersecting ranges …
