Distributed Parameter Monitoring For Wireless Deployments, Mirko Raca, Domenico Ficara
Defensive Publications Series
Using machine learning (ML) to make observations of network operations is faced with many constraints, including collection constraints, storage constraints, and processing constraints. Additionally, in many instances, data collected from a network may be unusable and will incur collection, storage, and processing costs with potentially limited return. Presented herein are techniques through which pre-filtering tasks can be distributed to wireless access points (APs) to highlight valuable metrics and learn from network deployments.

The invention relates to a control method using a program based on an algorithm for compensating different starting temperatures of an oven based on a selected cooking profile and the real-time start temperatures in the oven. To be more specific, the program determines whether to modify, i.e., reduce or prolong, the presetting cooking time of the selected cooking profile based on the analysis of the measured temperature and the relevant parameters of the selected cooking profile.
Accordingly, the invention provides a control method of an oven improving cooking processes for generating right taste and texture of foods.

Low Latency 5g/Lte Mobile Fronthaul Traffic In Tdmpon/Xgs-Pon Networks, Prashant Anand, Sudhir Kayamkulangara, Manoj Kumar, Raghupathi S, Ajay Sandhir
Defensive Publications Series
Ensuring low latency in a passive optical network (PON) environment for a mobile fronthaul use case is critical and raises a number of challenges. To address those types of challenges, techniques are presented herein that support, among other things, the coordination between a PON scheduler and a Long-Term Evolution (LTE) or Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) Fifth Generation (5G) scheduler where the expected traffic in an uplink direction is intimated in advance to the PON scheduler. Such advance knowledge of a bandwidth scheduling requirement in an upstream direction eliminates, for example, the serialization of scheduler latency. Aspects of the techniques …

Information two is the displaced objects in the environment. The third information is the objects that had the …
Video Editing In Small Segments, Ariel Braunstein, Nicholas Matarese
Video Editing In Small Segments, Ariel Braunstein, Nicholas Matarese
Defensive Publications Series
Video editing is a complex task requiring many small details spread over a timeline (temporal activity). Most video editing applications represent this information as a long timeline that the user can scroll through and zoom in and out of. When editing video on a phone or a small tablet, the available visual space on the display is limited, such that editing operations become highly cumbersome. This disclosure describes techniques to break down the timeline of a video editor into smaller segments, each focused on a single shot. The resulting segments are shorter, more contextually clear, and keep the creator focused …

Clustering Of Curve Types Using Similarity Scores, Aviv Reznik, Bart Van Delft
Defensive Publications Series
Curves of trends of content interaction events (e.g., views, shares, likes, etc.) versus time are of interest to social media and content-sharing services. Clustering trends can be used to classify, profile, and understand content creators or influencers. Clustering can also be used to recognize abusers, e.g., users that attempt to generate fraudulent views or likes in an effort to boost advertising revenue. This disclosure describes techniques to define similarity functions, or equivalently, distance measures, to enable the clustering of trends into trend types.

When using media assets in video editing, there is a general challenge of adapting the duration of an element to the desired duration in the video. For example, a pre-rendered animated element might last for five seconds and is not usable for durations shorter or longer than five seconds. This disclosure describes techniques to structure pre-rendered media elements in a specific format that enables a hosting application to control how they appear and behave. Video Fast And Slow Motion Styling, Ariel Braunstein
Defensive Publications Series
Video editing is a time-consuming activity that requires significant know-how to achieve professional grade results. Video editors presently available for consumers or amateurs offer a single-dial speed-setting that can slow down or speed up a video by a certain factor. The result of this setting often falls short of what the creator had in mind and is far less engaging for the viewers, who are used to professionally produced content. This disclosure describes techniques that enable a broad range of video-speed manipulations using templates. A user interface with a few buttons, sliders, and simple, intuitive settings is made available to …

Automatic Garaged Pen Release On A Computer System, Hp Inc
Automatic Garaged Pen Release On A Computer System, Hp Inc
Defensive Publications Series
For a garaged pen in a computer system, people with big hand/finger may have
difficulty to remove the pen from garaged position. The design proposed here is to
provide an easy and intuitive way for user to access the garaged pen, it also solves
the problem of wasting system space for accessing the pen (finger scoop for
example).
In this design, pen will be attracted in the garaged position by magnetic force, an
actuator will move the magnets on the system side to pop the pen out when the pen
release sensor is triggered.

Object Detection And Tracking With Post-Merge Motion Estimation, Ruiduo Yang, Samuel William Hasinoff, Jinglun Gao, Donghui Han, Minghui Tan
Defensive Publications Series
This publication describes techniques and apparatuses that enable an electronic device (e.g., a smartphone) with at least one camera to capture, render, and/or process frames. As the smartphone captures frames of a scene, the smartphone determines frames to be rendered and/or processed. Initially, the smartphone performs a global (fast) motion estimation to correctly render and/or process the captured frames of the scene. Information from the global motion estimation enables the smartphone to merge the captured frames, and the smartphone can generate one merged frame or a set of merged frame candidates. Information from the global motion estimation also enables the …
