Identify Related Entities On A Graph By Using Normalized Product Scores, N/A Feb 2022

Identify Related Entities On A Graph By Using Normalized Product Scores, N/A

Defensive Publications Series

A system and method for determining similarity of nodes on a graph using product similarity scores is described. A graph of nodes can be broken into a plurality of bi-partite graphs. For each bi-partite graph, the probability of getting from a first node to a second node through random walk can be determined. This probability can be multiplied with the probability of getting from a second node to a first node through a random walk to determine a product score for the two nodes. In some instances, the product score can be normalized using normalized conditional probabilities. These normalized probabilities …

Device Failure Data Collection Using Qr Codes, N Shalini Srinivasan, Rashmi Nikhil Patil, Andriani Stylianou, Jetsy Mathew, Joel Obstfeld

Defensive Publications Series

During the lifetime of a device, a customer may encounter a number of errors that require debugging. The process of diagnosing a device can become complicated when network access is not possible. To address such challenges, techniques are presented herein that support obtaining diagnostic information from a device in cases where network access cannot be provided through the use of dynamically generated Uniform Resource Locators (URLs) and quick response (QR) codes. Aspects of the presented techniques employ independent URL and QR code generating logic, in a hardware device, that has its own power source, memory, etc. (to allow for that …

Providing Activity To User Devices Based On User Location, D Shin

Defensive Publications Series

The present disclosure is directed to a framework using signals (e.g., ultra wideband) to enable accurate location-based activities (e.g., advertisements) based on a user’s location with relation to predetermined zones. For example, as a user moves from zone to zone with relation to the anchor device, the computing system can change the activity to reflect the user’s new zonal position (e.g., in real-time). In particular, a user can pass by a store with a display device containing an anchor device in the store window. As the user enters a first zone, the display device can display particular images of content. …

Providing Explicit Shopping Action For Screenshots Containing Purchasable Products, Jing Xiong, Luyao Gong

Defensive Publications Series

Users often take screenshots from shopping websites/apps for later consideration for purchase. However, accessing the product page at a later time requires the user to manually enter the website/product name. This disclosure describes techniques that help users shop for products based on a screenshot of an online page containing information about the product. With user permission, it is determined whether an image on the device is a screenshot. Cache Management Using Machine Learning, Deniz Altınbüken, Kevin Chen, Ramki Gummadi, Xiao Ju, Nikhil Sarda, Zhenyu Song

Defensive Publications Series

Various types of cache eviction policies can be utilized to identify cache objects for eviction from a cache. Effective cache eviction policies that improve cache hit rates can improve performance. This disclosure describes the use of machine learning for cache management. A base policy, e.g., least recently used (LRU) or other policy, is used to organize cache objects by eviction order. A machine learning based ranking model re-ranks the eviction order such that a certain cache object is the first object scheduled to be evicted. Upon eviction, future data requests are observed and serve as feedback to improve the ranking …

Integrated, Switched-Capacitor Voltage Regulator With Deep-Trench Capacitor, N/A

Defensive Publications Series

Currently, switching regulators come with inductors that are by nature bulky and difficult to fit in or integrate with ASICs due to space and layout considerations. This disclosure describes a voltage regulator based on switched capacitors (SC) that eliminates external inductors, enabling the integration of the voltage regulator with the package and/or the die. Integrated voltage regulators are valued in ASIC packaging designs as they better support power-integrity challenges brought on by advanced computing and memory-bandwidth demands. The techniques leverage the presence of parasitic inductance present in the package or/and MLCC, rather than employ external inductances.

Roof Mounted Airbag Module With Adaptive Positioning Feb 2022

Roof Mounted Airbag Module With Adaptive Positioning

Defensive Publications Series

A translational and rotational support for a roof-mounted airbag module allows for adjusting the translational and/or rotational position of the airbag module to account for variations in the seat and/or occupant position in the vehicle. The support is especially advantageous in driverless/autonomous vehicles where the occupant seating in the passenger compartment is not constrained by the conventional vehicle driver/passenger seating positions. The translational and rotational support can, for example, account for rear facing, side facing, angled, and fully reclined seat/occupant positions.

Fast Logical Channel Disabling For User Equipment Including Embedded Subscriber Identification Module Cards, Edison Chen, Grace Chen Feb 2022

Fast Logical Channel Disabling For User Equipment Including Embedded Subscriber Identification Module Cards, Edison Chen, Grace Chen

Defensive Publications Series

A user equipment (UE) can include multiple subscriber identity modules (SIMs) to enable connections to different telecommunications networks. For each connection to these different networks, the UE employs a corresponding channel profile to maintain and transmit over a logical channel. In order to rapidly change channel profiles and thus change connections from one network to another, the UE can employ a process with a reduced number of refreshflag commands, reducing the number of refreshes associated with changing connections. The UE thereby increases overall efficiency of the switching process and reduces the time required for such transitions.
