Digital map applications offer a location saving feature that enables users to save locations that they want to visit in the future. However, such applications do not provide proactive notifications of when a user is near a saved location, and instead, require the user to look up their lists to determine if they are near a saved location, which can cause them to miss opportunities to visit places of interest. This disclosure describes techniques to enable a digital map application to proactively provide suggestions for locations to visit that are saved by a user, by their friends, or by other …

Task-specific predictive machine learning models are used in many contexts. Such models require selection of input features and training of the model for a particular task with specific parameters. Building and maintaining such models is expensive and not scalable. This disclosure describes a universal predictive model (UPM) that is implemented using a dual encoder large language model (LLM). Both input features and task specifications are represented as natural language text or multimodal fragments that can be converted into embeddings by the LLM. A prediction model generates an output based on the feature embeddings and a task embedding. Fragments can be …

Entity-Aware Joint Translation Of Query And Semantic Parse, Sarthak Jauhari, Saisuresh Krishnakumaran, Dinkar Vasudevan, Rahul Goel
Defensive Publications Series
Machine translation is widely utilized to translate text between language pairs. However, the accurate recognition and translation of the entities within input text remains a challenge. Current translation models often struggle to identify entities, leading to literal and incorrect translations in queries. This disclosure describes techniques, referred to as entity-aware (EaT) that enable machine translation models to recognize entities in source text, resulting in accurate and idiomatic translations. Per the techniques, joint translation of an input query and its associated semantic parse is performed. Semantically parsed information is used as supplementary data in a manner that enables the translation model …
Estimating Companion Camera Distance Using Sound Source Localization In A Multi-Camera Scenario, Hp Inc
Estimating Companion Camera Distance Using Sound Source Localization In A Multi-Camera Scenario, Hp Inc
Defensive Publications Series
In a two-camera system, a highly accurate distance estimation between the cameras is critical to customer experience. Here, we describe a solution that estimates the direct distance between a table camera and a video bar with their existing hardware and a simple algorithm. When there are two loudspeakers on a video bar and microphone arrays on a table camera that can localize sound sources, the distance between the table camera and the projection of table camera on video bar can be determined by the difference of the sound source localization (SSL) angles of the two loudspeakers.

Pre-Emptive Heating, Ventilation, And Air Conditioning System Preparation For Arriving Occupants, Anonymous
Defensive Publications Series
In very cold or very hot ambient conditions, when an arriving occupant enters the vehicle and uses the Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) system in the vehicle, there can be a significant delay until the conditioned air coming out of the vents is close to the desired temperature. To avoid this delay, a method is proposed that will pre-emptively prime the HVAC system based on the estimated arrival time of the occupant which is determined by estimating the location, trajectory, and speed of the arriving occupant. Based on the estimated time off arrival, the vehicle will then activate the …

Mitigation Of Side-Channel Attacks On Memory Operations Using Random Sink/Source, Vadím Sukhomlínov, Miguel Osorio
Defensive Publications Series
Hardening secure integrated circuits such as security chips, processors, etc. against physical side-channel attacks is a complex task. Such hardening requires many iterations of design, and testing. Current countermeasures to mitigate side-channel leakage have significant overheads in terms of area, power, and/or performance. Moreover, such mechanisms may be ineffective against certain types of attacks and can potentially introduce new vulnerabilities. The mechanisms may be unsuitable in low-cost embedded systems with constraints on resources. This disclosure describes the use of a memory-mapped IP block that acts as a source or a sink for memory operations for out-of-range memory addresses. The block …
Traction Drive Rotor Shaft Insert To Reduce Weight And Improve Oil Flow
Traction Drive Rotor Shaft Insert To Reduce Weight And Improve Oil Flow
Defensive Publications Series
A hollow-shaft rotor cooling system is an effective cooling system often used for automotive traction motors. Flow and heat transfer of the hollow shaft rotor cooling system are governed by the shaft inner bore diameter and speed. There is usually a trade-off between rotor inner diameter and flow losses to optimize rotor cooling. The proposed solution discloses a lightweight rotating inner plastic insert inside the metal shaft that not only reduces the rotor weight but improves the oil flow.
Motor Stator Winding Fixation For Direct Slot Cooling
Motor Stator Winding Fixation For Direct Slot Cooling
Defensive Publications Series
Stator cooling is a critical aspect of high-speed motors for achieving high power density. Direct slot cooling is one of the important methods used in electric motors to enhance their efficiency and performance. However direct slot cooling does not allow traditional trickling process for hairpin fixation as the epoxy can block the cooling channels. This solution proposes an innovative hairpin fixation method that uses a rubber component with locking feature to support the winding.

Oil Scavenging Using Gerotor Pump For Optimum Oil Level In The Gearbox
Defensive Publications Series
Optimum lubrication in various operating conditions is crucial for achieving high efficiency and reliable performance in electric powertrains. The current trend of having a single cooling circuit for motor and gearbox poses challenges in proper oil draining of the motor oil back to the gearbox oil sump. The proposed solution discloses a gerotor mechanical pump connected to the gearbox stage that creates negative pressure and helps in draining excess oil from the motor. This improves efficiency and significantly lower losses in wider range of operating conditions.

Continuous Input Streaming And Inference For Low-Latency Large Language Models, Dongeek Shin
Defensive Publications Series
This disclosure describes a system for continuous token streaming and inference for large language models. Large language model inference can be a high-latency operation, which can result in noticeable wait times for users to receive an LLM output. This system can reduce latency by streaming tokens from a user’s device to an LLM in real time as the user inputs new tokens, and by performing partial inference operations on received tokens to generate intermediate inference states. Once a final token is received, the system can use the intermediate inference states to finalize inference operations and generate an output in less …
