User-Based Licensing With Real Time Location-Based Access Control, Vijeta Rana
User-Based Licensing With Real Time Location-Based Access Control, Vijeta Rana
Defensive Publications Series
Software monetization has traditionally supported device locked licenses. With the consumerization of IT, there is an expectation of B2C like experiences to be available in the B2B space – and with it the expectation is that the license is tied to a user and not with a device.
With the user-based licensing, now this is possible wherein the license is not tied to the device, though users are being authorized to access the software license from any device, using their credentials.
Here, the ISV is responsible for license generation of software products sold to customer, and the end-user access management …

In the Internet of Things (IOT) subsystem, some endpoints that have connections using protocols such as Message Queue Telemetry Transport (MQTT) involve a keep-alive feature that allows an MQTT to maintain its connection with a broker by sending regular control packets to the broker. However, the connection with the broker creates a level of dependency/overhead for maintaining the connection. This dependency can be eliminated by using existing protocols for keep-alive mechanisms. These protocols can identify the endpoints connection status based on a Keep-Alive Feasibility (KAF) score, which depends on various parameter criteria. Accordingly, a KAF analyzer tool is proposed herein …

Document Summarization Using Ai For Enhanced Printing Efficiency, Hp Inc
Defensive Publications Series
Currently, users who wish to print a document must place it on a flatbed or ADF. If they desire a summary of the document's content, they often rely on online tools. This process requires saving the summarized content into a document for printing, which raises privacy concerns due to the necessity of uploading the content online. Additionally, it necessitates duplicating the document before printing.
To address this issue, we propose an integrated solution that enables the summarization of document contents directly within the print process. This approach not only enhances privacy by eliminating the need for online tools but also …

In private 5G deployments with multiple edges where authentication and user-identity decryption, from SUCI (SUbscription Concealed Identity) to the real identity of the device/UE (IMSI, International Mobile Subscriber Identity), needs to be performed on-premise, i.e. at the edge and not in a centralized cloud location, the home network secret key used to decrypt a subscriber’s SUCI (Subscription Concealed Identifier) for the subscribers must be available at the network edge location. Having the same home network secret key at all edge locations is a security concern, since compromise of the home network secret key at any single edge can lead to …

In mobile network environments, there are scenarios in which the N4 state of a user equipment (user/subscriber) session can become out-of-sync between control-plane and user-plane nodes of a mobile core network, which can lead to session deletions. In order to address such issues, techniques are proposed herein that provide for recovering user equipment (UE) session information without asking the user/UE to re-establish the session for scenarios in which N4 session state may become out-of-sync between control-plane and user-plane nodes, which may provide improvements over current standards-based handling of such scenarios.

Blending Forecasting Models Via Meta Forecasting, K. S. Yim
Defensive Publications Series
Large language models (LLMs) have recently been utilized to construct forecasting models for time series data. Both classical statistical models and newer LLM-based models offer distinct advantages and disadvantages. Significant effort is often invested in selecting and customizing suitable models. Current blending techniques, often employed in ensemble learning, involve training an additional layer during the training phase. This additional layer combines the prediction results of individual forecasting models to generate the final outcome. These techniques necessitate an extra training process, preventing direct use at inference time, and lack full customization for time series data forecasting. This disclosure describes techniques comprising …

Automating Unsupervised Topic Trend Detection In Call Centers, Varsha Embar, Ritvik Shrivastava, Karthik Raghunathan
Defensive Publications Series
Contact centers, often referred to as call centers, can deal with a large number of calls each day. Identifying commonly occurring topics of calls can help call center administrators with resource allocation and prioritization. Many existing topic analysis call center solutions utilize historical data, inference on new calls, and some degree of personalization for determining topic trends. However, a modern-day topic analytics dashboard for a call center should also facilitate a higher degree of personalization in terms of adding existing topic labels, identifying new topics, and monitoring/alerting administrators when models are stale and in need of re-training. Various techniques are …

Defensive Publications Series
This publication describes a method to enable active pen functions for large format display with infrared (IR) touch screen technology. Today’s interactive whiteboard (iWB) touch screens (Fig.1) are mostly designed with IR touch screen technology which has benefits of low cost, high reliability, and better ability to support large format display. However, the IR touch screen only can support passive pen which has lower accuracy and lower pen performance. In this publication, we would like to propose solutions to enable active pen feature on IR touch screen to improve end user pen experience on large format display.
