Recreate Experiences Captured Digitally To Physical Formats, Hp Inc

Defensive Publications Series

Most of the time, the photos captured digitally lacks the emotional connections as compared to a physical card or printed photos. The proposed mobile application solution empowers children to design, customise and recreate the experiences they have been part of by generating a 3D pop-up card which is a tangible keepsake that last. This helps enhance children’s creativity and fine motor skills as they cut, paste, write, and decorate.

Threaded Optical Tube Assembly, Patrick Cleary Jan 2025

Threaded Optical Tube Assembly, Patrick Cleary

Defensive Publications Series

An Optical Tube Assembly (OTA) embodies the fundamental component of a telescope. In OTAs used for astronomical telescopes- as well as those for rifle scopes and photographic lens optical systems- embodiments often include threaded assemblies for ease of use and obvious utility to the user. Unlike optical tube assemblies like those used in riflescopes and camera lenses, which use threaded designs for selective functions, this invention consolidates fixturing, adjustment, and light scatter management into a single, integrated design which can be assembled and disassembled by hand, reducing or eliminating the need of additional tools for assembly, adjustments and maintenance, and …

Ai Code Canaries For Binaries And Firmware, Ray Van Hoose Jan 2025

Ai Code Canaries For Binaries And Firmware, Ray Van Hoose

Defensive Publications Series

Abstract

Firmware, the low-level software embedded in hardware devices, is critical for system security and functionality. Compromised firmware can have severe consequences, particularly as the prevalence of IoT and embedded systems increases. Traditional software security techniques are often inadequate due to the binary nature, resource constraints, and close hardware interaction inherent to firmware. This paper extends the "Code Canary" concept, proposing a novel adaptation for firmware integrity verification using AI-driven techniques to generate binary canaries. We explore the generation, embedding, and detection of these canaries within firmware images using binary analysis techniques such as Control Flow Graphs (CFGs) and Data …

Ai-Powered Canary Rotation For Enhanced Source Code Leak Detection, Ray Van Hoose Dec 2024

Ai-Powered Canary Rotation For Enhanced Source Code Leak Detection, Ray Van Hoose

Defensive Publications Series

This describes novel methods for rotating AI-generated code canaries to improve the resilience and effectiveness of source code leak detection. We introduce three distinct rotation strategies: simple rotation, dynamic rotation triggered by code changes, and algorithmic rotation using pseudorandom sequences. These methods enhance security by making it significantly more difficult for attackers to detect and neutralize canaries, thereby increasing the likelihood of early leak detection.

Augmenting Calendar View With Visual Representations Of Event Information, Gulmohar Khan, Ramprasad Sedouram

Defensive Publications Series

Visual representations in current calendar applications provide minimal to no event information beyond the time slot, title, and location. For effective scheduling and time management, users often need to know additional event information which can be accessed only by opening and consulting each calendar event separately. This disclosure describes techniques to address these shortcomings by augmenting calendar views with richer visual depictions of individual events to enable users to view contextually relevant event-related information at a glance. With appropriate user permissions, the richer depictions are provided by overlaying multiple relevant pieces of data and interactive elements in the visual depiction …

Region-Based Cross-Component Prediction Parameter Derivation, Xiang Li, Debargha Mukherjee Dec 2024

Region-Based Cross-Component Prediction Parameter Derivation, Xiang Li, Debargha Mukherjee

Defensive Publications Series

Region-based cross-component prediction parameter derivation improves convolutional cross-component mode (CCCM) prediction by enabling filter coefficients for predicting chroma samples from luma samples to be derived for an entire region of a frame of a video stream, such as a coding tree unit (CTU), rather than requiring that such filter coefficients be derived for each individual coding unit (CU). Deriving the filter coefficients for an entire region instead of for each individual CU under processing significantly reduces the latency in video coding and thus enables CCCM prediction to be used in hardware coders. The filter coefficients for the region are derived …

Many embedded systems use an embedded MultiMediaCard (eMMC) as the main storage device for such systems. When the eMMC for an embedded system is connected to the host Central Processing Unit (CPU) through an intermediate device, such as a Universal Serial Bus (USB) bridge, recovery from a transient eMMC failure, such as a single-event upset (SEU), is not available and such a failure could bring down an entire network. For example, conventional recovery processes for a system that experiences such a transient failure due to an SEU issue typically involve performing a system power cycle, which can cause significant network …
