Efficient Flush/Re-Initalize Signaling For Rans States, Simon Schmidt Dec 2024

Efficient Flush/Re-Initalize Signaling For Rans States, Simon Schmidt

Defensive Publications Series

Asymmetric Numeral Systems (ANS) have the distinct disadvantage, that they have to be encoded in reverse order. In rANS, adaptive rANS specifically, this is often alleviated by buffering the coding decisions and flushing it in the end, resitting the rANS state every time. The decoder has to know, when to flush/re-initialize the state of the rANS decoder. This disclosure describes a method for selectively flushing (or retaining) the state of the rANS decoder on a symbol-by-symbol base. After renormalization, the decoder checks, if the value of the state of the rANS decoder is equal to the constant, whith which the …

Prevention Of Internet Protocol Address Reusability-Based Domain Takeover, Pierre Precourt, Patrick Spiegel Dec 2024

Prevention Of Internet Protocol Address Reusability-Based Domain Takeover, Pierre Precourt, Patrick Spiegel

Defensive Publications Series

For each domain of an organization a corresponding IP address is identified. For each corresponding IP address, its registration, ownership information, and/or the corresponding media access control (MAC). Optionally, whether the IP address is allocated to an existing host is determined. For each IP address, address allocation requests are repeatedly sent until the IP address of interest is allocated in response to one of the requests. Alternatively, an API reporting the address is available is queried to determine whether the IP address of interest is currently allocated or available for allocation. As a result, cloud service providers can mitigate the …

Method And System For Mitigating Cognitive Driver Distraction From In-Vehicle Conversations, Anonymous

Defensive Publications Series

Driver distraction is a significant safety concern, with passenger conversations contributing significantly to cognitive load. While physical distractions are often addressed, in-vehicle conversational dynamics and their impact on driver attention remain largely unmanaged. New Button Structure For Magnet Switches, Hp Inc Dec 2024

New Button Structure For Magnet Switches, Hp Inc

Defensive Publications Series

This study involves the design of button structures for magnetic switches. Currently, magnetic switches are very popular in the gaming market, with many products, especially gaming keyboards, using magnetic switches and keycaps. However, there is a problem with the magnetic switches on the market that is difficult to improve through magnetism alone, namely that the difference in magnetic flux is difficult for sensors to detect. To solve this problem, this study proposes a hook structure with a pre-travel setup on the button or keycap, which helps sensors detect the difference in magnetic flux more easily. At the same time, this …

Optimizing Network Switch Power Consumption Via Smart Led Control, Kabiraj Sethi, Andrew Lu, Ramesh Yeevani Dec 2024

Optimizing Network Switch Power Consumption Via Smart Led Control, Kabiraj Sethi, Andrew Lu, Ramesh Yeevani

Defensive Publications Series

Light-emitting diodes (LEDs) on network switches provide useful visual indication of switch activity and important alerts of potential anomalies. Constant activation of these LEDs may lead to energy waste because an interested user is often not nearby to observe them. Conventional techniques for controlling LEDs typically allow users to use a Command Line Interface (CLI) command or Graphical User Interface (GUI) click to turn the LEDs off. However, these conventional approaches are inflexible and require significant user involvement. To address these issues, techniques proposed herein provide SmartLED, an intelligent LED control that leverages proximity sensors, physical buttons, and/or user input …
