Dynamic Insertion Of Translation Lookaside Buffer (Tlb) Hint Bits Based On Virtual Address Bits, Na Aug 2025

Dynamic Insertion Of Translation Lookaside Buffer (Tlb) Hint Bits Based On Virtual Address Bits, Na

Defensive Publications Series

A translation lookaside buffer (TLB) is a fast cache that stores recent page table entries to enable efficient translation between virtual and physical memory addresses. TLB entries include architected hint bits that can be used to provide information about the nature of the memory access. Current TLB implementations associate hint bits with physical pages, limiting their flexibility. This disclosure describes techniques to dynamically control hint bits by embedding them directly within the virtual address. New instructions can be introduced that either directly specify the hint bits or provide a register holding them. The provision of such new instructions enables hints …

Reducing Shot Cuts In Diffusion-Generated Video, Mitchell Mcintire, David Yao, Orly Liba Aug 2025

Reducing Shot Cuts In Diffusion-Generated Video, Mitchell Mcintire, David Yao, Orly Liba

Defensive Publications Series

This publication describes techniques for reducing shot cuts in videos generated by diffusion models, particularly in image-to-video applications. Shot cuts are abrupt transitions between distinct scenes of video. Shot cuts may be unexpected and may be irrelevant to provided input. To reduce shot cuts, a diffusion model may begin a diffusion process from a static video, where the frames of the static video may be noised instances of an input image. The diffusion model may also insert the input image as a first frame of the generated video, anchoring the output to the input. By ‘anchoring’ the output video and …

Auto-Mute Based On Window Focus, Hp Inc Jul 2025

Auto-Mute Based On Window Focus, Hp Inc

Defensive Publications Series

This manuscript introduces an intelligent auto-mute feature for conferencing applications such as Zoom or Microsoft Teams. The system automatically mutes the user's microphone when the conferencing app window loses focus (e.g., user is not engaged or the window is minimized or moved behind other windows). This behaviour enhances user privacy and reduces unintended background noise during meetings. It also leverages window state detection and system-level audio control to deliver a seamless and context-aware conferencing experience.

Multi-Frequency Matching Networks For Lwd Resistivity Sensor Coils, Baker Hughes Company Jul 2025

Multi-Frequency Matching Networks For Lwd Resistivity Sensor Coils, Baker Hughes Company

Defensive Publications Series

Logging while drilling (LWD) sensor coils (a.k.a. antennas) of LWD resistivity tools require impedance matching to a specified value to ensure power matching to the transmitter electronics or noise matching to the receiver electronics. Another important parameter to be considered is the common-mode rejection of the matching network to suppress common-mode signals from both the internal transmitter coil (antenna) as well as common-mode interference from other sources such as power supplies.

Smart Ac Plug Load Switcher “Smart Plug”, Hp Inc Jul 2025

Smart Ac Plug Load Switcher “Smart Plug”, Hp Inc

Defensive Publications Series

Present public power generation systems are designed to deliver a set voltage level to their end loads (for example, in computer systems). The current draw (and thus the load Wattage) is determined by the load that the end device is designed to. Common consumer power outlets are sized to 120 VAC with either 15 and 20 Amp (USA/NEMA example) service, for example. Safety is attained via a breaker/fuse in the distribution system. If the load device exceeds the delivery system’s capacity, the safety device is tripped. This all works well when the load device’s power is fixed. However, new systems …

Multi Hard Disk Drive Cold Plate, Lon Stevens, Kevin Van Pelt, Mohamad El-Batal Jul 2025

Multi Hard Disk Drive Cold Plate, Lon Stevens, Kevin Van Pelt, Mohamad El-Batal

Defensive Publications Series

With the increase in CPU and GPU power, more and more servers require liquid cooling. Some newer data centers have been designed with the ability to only cool with liquid. High density HDD storage enclosures, though, have only been designed for air cooling. In addition, it may be possible to cool HDDs to lower temperatures with liquid cooling and at the same time significantly reducing acoustic generation, as no, or smaller, fans would be needed to cool the enclosure. This paper looks at ways a high-density HDD storage enclosure can be liquid cooled.
