A permission model is described that provides a set of user modifiable default application permissions for user devices. A user interface enables the user to easily observe services and permissions being utilized by various apps and to update permission settings. Upon request, the user can grant permissions not granted by default at app initialization. The embodiments presented herein relate to controlling backhaul routing of a mobile router with multiple cellular uplinks. The router has dual-LTE links to different providers that both use cellular management systems. A gateway management module communicates with both providers to gain a full picture of the cellular billing and usage, as well as cellular performance on each provider's network. The gateway management module then becomes a central control point, communicating with the router to control which LTE backhaul link should be used at any given time.

Techniques are described herein for leveraging connected vehicles and in-vehicle telemetry to collect evidence for investigations. When an incident occurs, all vehicles within an observation range of the incident and a time period leading up to the incident upload their anonymized but traceable telemetry data to the cloud. Investigators then use this data to re-create the incident in a simulation based on the uploaded telemetries. Furthermore, if eyewitness accounts are needed, law enforcement or investigators can follow-up with the occupants of each vehicle based on the source of the telemetry.

Techniques are described herein to cause a Master and Slave Wireless Personal Area Network (WPAN) to share the same 64-bit Extended Unique Identifier (EUI64) address. In response, the first hop dual-phy node transmits most of the upward data flow to the router via the Radio Frequency (RF) link, and the router transmits most downward data flow via the RF link. Because the RF link has much more bandwidth than the Power Line Communication (PLC) link, this mechanism takes full advantage of network resources and extends the network throughput.

The system includes the CPU, which embeds an asymmetric private decryption key called CPU Decryption Key (CDK). Techniques are described herein for offloading the responsibility of validation to an edge node such as a fog router or Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) platform by signaling the same in an Interest packet or using another Out-of-Band (OOB) mechanism. Upon receiving the Interest packet, the edge node creates the local state entry in a Pending Interest Table (PIT) and marks the entry for local integrity validation. The edge node uses any mechanism to retrieve the public key and perform the validation on behalf of the sensors/end-users.
