A Monotonicity Measure With A Fast Algorithm For Objective Evaluation Of Tone Mapping Methods, Hp Inc Oct 2018

A Monotonicity Measure With A Fast Algorithm For Objective Evaluation Of Tone Mapping Methods, Hp Inc

Defensive Publications Series

The range of light intensity in the real world greatly

exceeds what most existing devices can display. Various tone

mapping methods have been developed to render HDR (high

dynamic range) images or to increase local contrast of

conventionally captured images. While local (or spatially varying)

tone mapping methods are generally more effective they are also

prone to artifacts such as halos. Most existing methods for

evaluating tone-mapped images focus on preservation of

informative details and may not identify artifacts effectively. This

paper proposes an objective metric based on a monotonicity

measure that may serve as a baseline measure for artifacts …

Dual Effect Cooling System For Thermal Inkjet Printheads, Hp Inc Oct 2018

Dual Effect Cooling System For Thermal Inkjet Printheads, Hp Inc

Defensive Publications Series

Thermal Inkjet (TIJ) printheads are a core technology for some printing businesses, and are

used both in large format printers and 3D printers. TIJ printheads work by applying energy

in the form of heat to a fluid, producing a bubble that grows, ejecting a drop. Part of this

heat is removed from the printhead as it travels with the drop ejected, but some of the heat

remains in the printhead. If the job to be printed has a high printing density, the amount of

heat that is generated and accumulated in the printhead is high. This effect is accentuated

if …

Some printers are designed to print 3D plastic parts. Some of the advantages that such printers

provide are: ease of use, clean solution, good price/performance, good reliability, and high

productivity.

Some 3D printers use a pair of halogen lamp-based energy sources: a first source on the top

of the printer composed of an array of lamps and used to maintain certain temperature on the

printing zone (close to melting point), and a second source placed on the print carriage that

applies the extra energy to fuse and melt the selected powder. This last system is called the

Modular Compliant Link Splint For Flexible Tube Kink Prevention Without Routing Path Impact, Hp Inc Oct 2018

Modular Compliant Link Splint For Flexible Tube Kink Prevention Without Routing Path Impact, Hp Inc

Defensive Publications Series

Described here is a device for preventing kink formation in flexible, non‐wire bound tubing without

adding pathing constraints to the tube. Flexible tubing tends to have minimum bend radii, below will

kink in the material form and choke off the flow of material through the tube. Current kink prevention

solutions either dictate a rigid path for the tube or impart some reaction force onto the tube. This

invention prevents kinks and allows a tube to retain its natural minimum strain path with no additional

force applied, and works for any number of different tube paths or bends. This is achieved …

System And Method To Detect Opto-Sensors Powder Dirtiness Level In 3d Printers, Hp Inc Oct 2018

System And Method To Detect Opto-Sensors Powder Dirtiness Level In 3d Printers, Hp Inc

Defensive Publications Series

Some 3D printer technologies are based on using powder material that is processed to create

3D printed parts. In general, this powder material is very fine and a small portion of it tends to

get dispersed within the printer environment. This powder can become a problem for optical

sensors in the printer as powder can deposit on the emitter and the sensor can lose

effectiveness. This disclosure shares an idea to be able to proactively detect that the sensor is

getting dirty, so the user can be warned before the user starts malfunction and some

maintenance can be done.

Convert Service Part Packaging Into A Service Tool To Do A Safely Intervention Of Replacing A Heating Module Of A Large Format Printer, Hp Inc Oct 2018

Convert Service Part Packaging Into A Service Tool To Do A Safely Intervention Of Replacing A Heating Module Of A Large Format Printer, Hp Inc

Defensive Publications Series

In ink printers, heating sources are usually applied with a heating module that covers the maximum

media width supported by the printer. As the portfolio evolves, the print velocity demand

(throughput) is increasing drastically and consequently the size of the heating module to maintain

the exposure time of the printed media underneath it. The heating size has driven the inclusion of

a lifting mechanism needed to move away the heating module and maintain the ergonomics of the

user interaction with the printer. Because of this the toughest service intervention is the heating

module replacement and it needed to be adapted …

Method To Dynamically Optimize Mimo Throughput Of Coupled Tunable Antennas, Vivek Bharambe, Matthew Slater Oct 2018

Method To Dynamically Optimize Mimo Throughput Of Coupled Tunable Antennas, Vivek Bharambe, Matthew Slater

Defensive Publications Series

Many wireless communication standards (4G LTE, 5G NR, Wi-Fi, etc.) can leverage multiple antennas within a device through multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communication protocols. Antenna tuners are often used to tune the individual antennas for various transmission and reception characteristics. Traditional means of tuning the antennas, however, do not account for coupling between the antennas. Often, MIMO antennas are packaged within proximity of each other due to tight packaging constraints in modern electronic devices. In these types of coupled MIMO systems, maximum throughput is achieved when the coupling between the antennas is accounted for, even though a single antenna may not …
