Green microalgae are one of the natural resources for productions of various and beneficial bioactive compounds, such as UV-screening compounds and carotenoids. This study focuses on the changes of carotenoids and metabolisms in the green microalga Chlorococcum sp. 8367RE under stress conditions. The results showed that stresses by salt, light, drought, and nitrogen starvation affected on alterations of morphological characteristics. Interestingly, size of cells culturing under salt stresses dramatically increased. It should be noted that KCl stress caused the enlargement of cell sizes approximately 5 folds. Mycosporine-2-glycine (M2G) is a rare UV-screening compound in a group of mycosporine-like amino acids (MAAs). This molecule is found in only two cyanobacteria; Euhalothece sp. LK-1 and Aphanothece halophytica (Halothece sp. PCC 7418). The structure of M2G composed of 4-deoxygadusol as a core structure, attached by 2 molecules of glycine at C1 and C3 positions. M2G has a maximal adsorption at 331 nm and a better antioxidative activity than other MAAs. Thus, it is interesting in determination of other activities for further cosmeceutical and pharmaceutical applications. Graphene quantum dots (GQDs), with their attractive properties, are of interest to apply for electronic devices. Therefore, this dissertation aimed to investigate the electronic of curved graphene quantum dots (CGQDs) and the adsorption of lithium on GQDs. For the first part, two shapes of flat GQDs, rhomboidal (RGQDs) and hexagonal (HGQDs), were modified to make CGQDs with different folding axes and angles. Stabilities and electronic properties of CGQDs were studied using PBE/DNP. The results showed that the deformation energies of GQDs depend on sizes and folding axes but not their shapes. The purpose of this study was to develop the Thai Moral Integrity Scale (TMIS), and to test its psychometric properties. The construct definition and content domains of the TMIS were developed through the intensive literature reviews and test the content validity by experts. This used to guide the conceptual framework in this instrument. The content validity was examined using the panel of five experts. The content validity index (S-CVI) was 1.00. The purposes of this descriptive research was to examine the causal relationship between strength self-efficacy, resourcefulness, purpose in life, social support, alcohol abuse, and recovery among persons with major depressive disorder (MDD). The aim of this study was to test the effect of the Uncertainty Management Program (UMP) on quality of life among Vietnamese women at 3-weeks post mastectomy. The quasi-experimental design with posttest only was conducted in 115 women with post mastectomy who were assigned in experimental group (n=57) and control group (n=58). The experimental group received the UMP and routine care while the control group received only routine care. Participants were assessed at 3-weeks post mastectomy using the modified Quality of Life Index Scale Vietnamese version with Cronbach's alpha coefficient of .81. Mannan in the outermost layer of Candida cell wall may be the first molecules that interact with host dendritic cells (DCs) and activate immune responses that determine disease outcomes. However, little is known how different mannan structures of common Candida species affect DC activation and T cell responses. Thus, this work compared the effects of mannans of Candida albicans, Candida tropicalis, Candida glabrata, Candida krusei, Candida parapsilosis and Candida dubliniensis on bone marrow-derived DC (BMDC) responses in mice. This work studied the conversion of lignocellulosic materials to sugars, the intermediates for bioethanol production, by a bacterial enzyme. Due to the complex structure of lignocellulose, a cellulase enzyme cannot effectively access and hydrolyse cellulose fibers. Various pretreatment processes of lignocellulose have been studied to enhance enzymatic hydrolysis to date. The photocatalytic degradation of isopropanol under UV irradiation was studied by using p-n junction of ZnO/TiO2 photocatalysts prepared by sol-gel technique. Their energy storage ability was tested with their photocatalytic activity where there was no UV illumination. That was investigated by illumination the system with UV light for 2 h and off for 2 h until 8 h. Copper(II) salen, salophen-based ligands, and their corresponding copper complexes were prepared and utilized for the electrocatalytic reduction of carbon dioxide. Controlled-potential electrolysis of copper(II) salen electrocatalyst with carbon dioxide in non-aqueous solution was investigated to obtain the optimized electrolysis condition including the applied potential and proton donor quantity. With the applied potential of –2.10 V, carbon monoxide (3.50-16.30%) was obtained as the only product in gas phase. Methane was additionally found with the addition of proton donor and its maximum percentage (0.39 ± 0.00%) were obtained from the electrolysis with 25.00 mM proton donor and 2.00 mM copper(II) salen. A new titanium nitride (TiN) promoted nickel catalyst was synthesized and tested as an alternative catalyst in the dry reforming of methane (DRM). The series of this catalyst with various Ni and TiN contents was prepared in two steps, direct synthesis of SBA-15 in the presence of TiN, followed by the impregnation of Ni. The influence of TiN promoted Ni-based catalyst on dry reforming reaction was investigated at the temperature of 700ºC and atmospheric pressure for a duration of 4 h, using feed ratio of CH4/CO2 = 1.
