Objective: To demonstrate whether treatment with canagliflozin had an effect on liver steatosis in obese non-diabetic patients with NAFLD compared with the control group Methods: 82 nondiabetic patients with BMI 25-35 kg/m2 underwent 24 weeks of double blind randomized controlled trial with combined canagliflozin 100 mg daily with diet-lifestyle modification or placebo with diet-lifestyle modification (500 calories restriction and moderate intensity aerobic exercise). A Causal Model Of Sexual Abstinence In Thai Female Adolescents, La-Ongdao Wannarit

This study aimed to develop and test a causal model of sexual abstinence in Thai female adolescents guiding by the Health Promotion Model of Pender, Murdaugh and, Parsons (2015). Data were collected from 654 first-year female students studying in six higher education institutions and six high-vocational schools in Thailand. Validity and reliability of 6 existing measures and 2 newly developed measures were established prior to data collection. The causal model was analyzed using Mplus program. It was found that the causal model of sexual abstinence fit the empirical data with Chi-square (χ2) = 434.344, p<0.05, degrees of freedom (df) = 173, χ2/df = 2.51, Comparative fit Index (CFI) = 0.967, Tucker-Lewis Fit Index (TLI) = 0.955, Root Mean Square Error of Approximation (RMSEA) = 0.048, Standardized Root Mean Square Residual (SRMR) = 0.041. Sixty-eight percent of the variance in Thai female adolescents’ sexual abstinence was explained by child-rearing promoting sexual abstinence, commitment to a plan of sexual abstinence, perceived benefits, perceived self-efficacy, and perceived barriers. Among these five variables, the child-rearing promoting sexual abstinence had the largest total effect on sexual abstinence, followed by commitment to a plan of sexual abstinence, perceived benefits, perceived self-efficacy, and perceived barriers, respectively. This model can be used by healthcare providers to promote sexual abstinence in Thai female adolescents.

This quasi-experimental pretest-posttest control group design aims to examine the effectiveness of the Parent Involvement-Child Behavioral Management Program (PICBMP) in reducing symptoms among ADHD children. Sixty-four children aged 6–12 years with ADHD were randomly assigned to either the experimental or control group by using a random number table, consisting of thirty-two participants in each group. The participants in the experimental group participated in the PICBMP and usual care with medication, while those in the control group received the usual care with medication. The aim of this study was to compare diagnostic accuracy in proximal caries detection between bitewing radiographs exported from PACS software and taken with a smartphone viewed in a smartphone display. A total of 200 proximal surfaces from digital bitewing radiographs were included in this study. Images of all radiographs were captured from a medical-grade and a common display by an iPhone 8 Plus and stored as JPEG files. Methods: This study was a split mouth, double-blind, randomized-controlled clinical trial of 42 patients who underwent symmetric bilateral non-infected premolars extraction. However, aromatic hydrocarbon streams obtained from refinery contain unavoidable trace amounts of olefins as an impurity. In our study, a mixture of p-toluenesulfonic acid and sulfuric acid (TsOH-H2SO4) as a catalyst showed a good performance in transesterification of palm oil (PO) with methanol and etherification of biodiesel with isobutylene. For biodiesel production, the catalyst noticeably accelerated the reaction faster than TsOH and H2SO4 alone and also gave up to 99.8% of the conversion. Etherification of biodiesel with isobutylene in the etherification process using isobutylene/glycerol molar ratio 6:1 at 70°C, in the period of 5 h reaction time, gave high selectivity to produce DTBG and TTBG (81.4%). Three derivatives of 1,8-naphthalimide were systematically designed and synthesized to investigate the effect of substitution pattern on their photophysical properties and sensing behaviors towards formaldehyde in aqueous media. The key substituents, the hydrazino (-NHNH2) and the 2-methoxyethylamino groups (-NHCH2CH2OCH3), were installed at the 4-position of 1,8-naphthalimide by a nucleophilic replacement, and at the imide position by a condensation reaction with 1,8-naphthalic anhydride precursor. All target compounds were obtained in good overall yields of 60-80%. In this thesis, polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and starch modified cotton thread was developed as a cotton thread-based device for distance-based colorimetric detection of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and glucose. PVA and starch, the biocompatible polymers, were modified on a cotton thread to enhance the enzymatic stability and reagent immobilization efficiency. The research aimed to reduce apparent density and improve fire resistance of polyisocyanurate (PIR) foam. PIR foams were prepared using zinc-ammonia complex and potassium octoate as catalyst for gelling/blowing and trimerization reactions, respectively. Three types of starch produced in Thailand, namely glutinous rice flour, rice flour and mung bean starch, were used as additives for PIR foams. This research aims to develop a simple, yet effective assay for C-reactive protein (CRP) detection based on a combination of magnetic separation and antibody-free colorimetric assay. Magnetic nanoparticles stabilized with phosphorylcholine-containing polymer, poly[methacrylic acid)-ran-(methacryloyloxyethyl phosphorylcholine)] (PMAMPC-MNPs) were prepared by co-precipitation of ferric and ferrous salts in the presence of PMAMPC. Carboxyl groups in the methacrylic acid (MA) repeat units chelate with Fe atoms during MNPs formation while the methacryloyloxyethyl phosphorylcholine (MPC) repeat units provide specifically binding sites and conjugate with CRP in presence of Ca2+. In this study, electrospun nanofibers of nylon 6,6 functionalized with β-cyclodextrin (nylon 6,6/β-CD) were fabricated and applied as a sorbent in solid-phase extraction (SPE) for determination of parabens in water. The electrospinning parameters such as polymer concentration, nylon 6,6/β-CD ratio, and electric field strength were investigated in order to obtain uniform nanofibers. In this work, we present a facile method for fabrication of plano-convex lenses, using high reflective optical polymer (Polydimethylsiloxane, Sylgard 184 by Dow Corning, n ~1.42 and Norland Optical adhesive 61, NOA61 by Norland Products, ~1.56) under the confined sessile drop technique. The confined sessile drop technique is a facile method and an adjustable lens geometry through controlled the weight of liquid polymer on the lens substrate, as PMMA circular disk and Sylgard circular disk, with different diameter (2.5-6.0 mm). Solidified natural gas (SNG) by storing natural gas in the hydrate form, which is safe and easy to recover stored gas compared to other methods. However, to make this technology competitive, storing natural gas at a higher temperature, lower pressure with faster formation is needed. Tetrahydrofuran (THF) is a well-known thermodynamic promoter used to increase the hydrate formation temperature. However, increasing the hydrate formation temperature has a drawback on decreasing the formation rate. Methane from natural gas can be used as feedstock in the production process. Nevertheless, the conventional plant using natural gas feedstock produces carbon dioxide as a by-product of the process. The objective of this placebo-controlled clinical study is to determine the effect of sulodexide for the prevention of peritoneal membrane change in PD patients by evaluating dialysate biomarkers of peritoneal membrane change, phenotypes of peritoneal mesothelial cells, peritoneal membrane transports and safety. A total of 66 patients were included in this randomized control trial study. Patients were randomly assigned to receive either 50 mg of sulodexide or placebo by oral 2 times daily. Fifty endophytic actinomycetes isolated from six medicinal plants in Thailand were identified as Micromonospora (34 strains), Streptomyces (8 strains), Microbispora (3 strains), Nonomuraea (2 strains), Plantactinospora (2 strains), and Amycolatopsis (1 strain) based on phenotypic characteristics and 16S rRNA gene sequencing. Fifteen strains exhibited antimicrobial activity against Gram-positive bacteria. Strain CR1-09T, proposed as Microbispora cathalanthi sp. nov. was active against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 6538 and Kocuria rhizophila ATCC 9341. Streptomyces sp. 3MP-10 and 3MP-14, novel species were active against S. aureus ATCC 6538, K. rhizophila ATCC 9341, and Bacillus subtilis ATCC 6633. Oxyresveratrol (OXY) is known to exert antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties but has low oral bioavailability in rats and low permeability in the Caco-2 cell monolayer model. Three ester prodrugs with different acyl chain lengths (oxyresveratrol tetraacetate (OXY-TAc), oxyresveratrol tetrapropionate (OXY-TPr), and oxyresveratrol tetrabutyrate (OXY-TBu) were synthesized to improve the permeability of OXY. Transport of three OXY ester prodrugs across Caco-2 monolayers was higher than that of OXY, and OXY-TAc exhibited the highest permeation.
