On Optimal Coefficient In Augmented Lagrangian Method For Saddle Point Problem, Felicja Okulicka-Dłuzewska May 2017

On Optimal Coefficient In Augmented Lagrangian Method For Saddle Point Problem, Felicja Okulicka-Dłuzewska

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

The optimal coefficient in the augmented Lagrangian method for the Saddle Point Problem is found. As the criterion the minimum of the condition number of the diagonal block is taken. The application of the commonly used preconditioners requires the proper approximations of the inverse of this block and of the Schur’s complement. The condition number plays the important role in the calculation of such approximations. The result confirms the experimental value of the coefficient commonly used in the augmented Lagrangian technique.

In the present paper, we obtain some approximation properties for the bivariate Bernstein-Durrmeyer operators on a triangle. We characterize the rate of convergence in terms of K−functional and the usual and second order modulus of continuity. We estimate the order of approximation by Voronovskaja type result and illustrate the convergence of these operators to a certain function through graphics using Mathematica algorithm. We also discuss the comparison of the convergence of the bivariate Bernstein-Durrmeyer operators and the bivariate Bernstein-Kantorovich operators to the function through illustrations using Mathematica. Lastly, we study the simultaneous approximation for first order partial derivatives and the …

In this paper, a two-dimensional discrete element model based on the soft particle method has been carried out to capture the dynamical behavior of a two-dimensional granular bed impacted by a projectile penetrating it obliquely. We systematically study the influence of the projectile’s impact angle on the penetration profile of the projectile underneath the granular bed. The outcomes of the model suggest that the trajectory of the projectile exhibits a significant transition from linear to non-linear gradually with the decreasing of the projectile’s impact angle. A function that models the profiles of the projectile’s motion beneath the granular bed is …

Previous researches on digital audio watermarking has shown that effective techniques ensure inaudibility, reliability, robustness and protection against signal degradation. Crucial to this is the appropriate position of the watermark in the files. There is a risk of perceivable distortion in the audio signal when the watermark is spread in the audio spectrum, which may result in the loss of the watermark. This paper addresses the lack of an optimal position for the watermark when spread spectrum watermarking techniques are used. In an attempt to solve this problem, we model various positions on the audio spectrum for embedding the watermark …

Multi-Soliton Solutions To Nonlinear Hirota-Ramani Equation, Harun-Or-Roshid, Md. Nur Alam

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

A direct rational exponential scheme is proposed to construct exact multi-soliton nonlinear partial differential equations. As an example we consider the well-known nonlinear Hirota-Ramani equation to investigate one-soliton, two-soliton and three-soliton solutions. This work is motivated by the fact that the direct rational exponential method provides completely non-elastic multi-soliton solution although soliton should remain their shape and size unchanged after and before collision. Furthermore, the properties of the acquired multiple soliton solutions are shown by three-dimensional profiles. All solutions are stable and might have applications in physics.

Spectrum Sensing For Cognitive Radio Systems Using Modulation Classification: A Review, Mohammad Rida Bahloul, Mohd Zuki Yusoff, Abdel-Haleem Abdel-Aty, M. Naufal M. Saad, Lamis Kudsi

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

Spectrum sensing is the most important procedure for the operation of cognitive radio systems. To overcome the shortcomings of the conventional spectrum sensing techniques, considerable attention has been recently focused on the use of Modulation Classification (MC) for spectrum sensing. It relies on the fact that all primary users employ one modulation scheme or another for the transmission over the wireless channel; therefore, detecting any modulation scheme would be enough to confirm the presence of the primary user’s signal in the wireless channel. This paper discusses the spectrum sensing for cognitive radio systems using modulation classification and provides a critical …

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

A new univariate three-parameter distribution, the transmuted exponentiated Maxwell distribution, is proposed and studied. This new univariate distribution can be seen as generalization of the Maxwell distribution and its respective exponentiated and transmuted versions. The new generalization is generate using the families of exponentiated and transmuted distributions. Some probabilistic properties are studied, maximum likelihood estimation discussed, derive the functions to be used in reliability studies and present an application with a real data. We hope that the new distribution proposed will serve as an alternative model to the Maxwell and the respective exponentiated and transmuted versions.

Pa-Bcl+ Algebras And Groups, Yonghong Liu May 2017

Pa-Bcl+ Algebras And Groups, Yonghong Liu

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

A BCL+ algebras can be considered as a fragment of propositional logic containing only a logical connective implication a binary operation → and 1 which is interpreted as the value true. This paper offers a new abstract structure, which is called the pseudoassociation BCL+ algebras (simply pa-BCL+ algebras). Because of its origin in BCL+ algebras, we increase the pseudo-association law and ordered structure, but the connection is not a simple derivation, it involved groups, abelian and semigroups. We will give some concepts and characterizations in the pa-BCL+ algebras. As a result, the pa-BCL+ algebras have more complex algebraic structures.
