Optimal Control And Cost-Effectiveness Analysis For Dysentery Epidemic Model, Hailay Weldegiorgis Berhe, Oluwole Daniel Makinde, David Mwangi Theuri
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
In this paper, optimal control theory is applied to a system of ordinary differential equations representing a dysentery diarrhea epidemic. Optimal control strategies are proposed to reduce the number of infected humans and the cost of interventions. The Pontryagin’s maximum principle is employed to find the necessary conditions for the existence of the optimal controls. Runge- Kutta forward-backward sweep numerical approximation method is used to solve the optimal control system. The incremental costeffectiveness analysis technique is used to determine the most cost-effective strategy. We observe that the control measure implementing sanitation and education campaign is the most efficient and cost-effective.

Design And Performance Estimation Of Efficient Approximate Carry Select Adder, V. S. Nishok, P. Poongodi, K. N. Vijeyakumar
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
Carry select adder is the key circuit to achieve high-speed arithmetic operations. This paper presents the Efficient Approximation Carry Select Adder (EA-CSLA) involved in eradicating the carry 1 input path in LSB and attains a reduced amount of delay and hardware simplicity. Furthermore, this EA-CSLA utilizes an algorithmic cell split-up technique which diminishes the propagation delay in all parts of the circuit. The EA carry select adder design includes approximate full adder blocks with less gate count and reduced power consumption. This design is synthesized in Encounter-Cadence 90 nm tool up to GDSII level using Verilog language. Hardware implementation is …

In this paper, we study curves in the lightlike cone. First, we show that any curves in the lightlike cone are spacelike or lightlike, and then we characterize some curves with special cone curvature function in the 4, 5, and 6-dimensional lightlike cone. Finally, we consider the relationship between Frenet curvature functions and cone curvature functions for a spacelike curve on the lightlike cone.

Multiple Complex Soliton Solutions For The Integrable Sinh-Gordon And The Modified Kdv-Sinh-Gordon Equation, Abdul-Majid Wazwaz
Multiple Complex Soliton Solutions For The Integrable Sinh-Gordon And The Modified Kdv-Sinh-Gordon Equation, Abdul-Majid Wazwaz
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
In this work, we study the integrable sinh-Gordon (ShG) and the modified KdV-sinh-Gordon (MKdV-ShG) equations. We show that these two equations pass the Painlev´e test to confirm its integrabilities. We establish new complex forms of the simplified Hirota’s method, to formally derive multiple complex soliton solutions for each equation. Our results show that the complex simplified Hirota’s method explicitly constructs new multiple complex soliton solutions in addition to the multiple real soliton solutions that each equation generates.

A Mathematical Model Of Hiv Infection With Cellular And Immune Delays, Nicoleta E. Tarfulea
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
We propose an infection age HIV model that considers virus-to-cell and cell-to-cell infections and immune response. This new and more complex model combines and extends the models proposed in [4,9]. We prove that the solution to the associated initialvalue problem is positive and bounded from above. Furthermore, we analyze the stability of the infection-free equilibrium.

Perceptual Video Encryption Via Unit Anti-Diagonal Matrix, Salamudeen Alhassan, Mohammed Muniru Iddrisu, Mohammed Ibrahim Daabo
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
In this paper, we propose a perceptual video encryption algorithm that utilizes rotation matrix and unit anti-diagonal matrix to visually degrade video data with varying perceptibility. Blocks of pixels in video frames are identified and extracted using rotation matrix and encrypted/decrypted using unit anti-diagonal matrix. Analysis of results show that the technique has low computational overhead and ideal for on-the-fly encryption. When compared with existing techniques, the proposed method is better in the quality of visual degradation, processing time and independent on the video format. Preliminary analysis also showed that the proposed method can resist chosen/known-plaintext attacks.

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
In this paper we aim to improve the use of water in the irrigation process. That is by continuously monitoring the soil moisture level to decide whether irrigation is needed or not. We focus on giving people - who are not familiar with agriculture as well as the farmers - the ability to design an automated irrigation system with all its details. In addition, it determines the required list of components with the total cost based on the market price.
Applications Of Fourier Series And Zeta Functions To Genocchi Polynomials, Serkan Araci, Mehmet Acikgoz
Applications Of Fourier Series And Zeta Functions To Genocchi Polynomials, Serkan Araci, Mehmet Acikgoz
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
In this paper, we firstly consider the properties of Genocchi polynomials, Fourier series and Zeta functions. In the special cases, we see that the Fourier series yield Zeta functions. From here, we show that zeta functions for some special values can be computed by Genocchi polynomials. Secondly, we consider the Fourier series of periodic Genocchi functions. For odd indexes of Genocchi functions, we construct good links between Genocchi functions and Zeta function. Finally, since Genocchi functions reduce to Genocchi polynomials over the interval [0,1), we see that Zeta functions have integral representations in terms of Genocchi polynomials.

Improved Clc Routing Protocol With Node Classification Algorithm For Manet, K. Logesh, Srinivasa Rao Madane
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
Mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs) are the group of mobile nodes that communicate without using fixed infrastructures. Most of the routing protocols in MANETs are designed without analyzing the behaviour of the intermediate node. In such a case, it cannot identify the best intermediate node when over one route is available. It degrades the performance of routing protocol. Analysing the attributes of the intermediate node and identify the best node for transmitting packets is the challenging task inMANET. In this paper we have designed node classification algorithm which helps to analyze various attributes of the intermediate node and select the …

On The Capacitated Step-Fixed Charge And Facility Location Problem: A Row Perturbation Heuristic, Gbeminiyi John Oyewole, Olufemi Adetunji
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
The Classical Transportation Problem (TP) Tableau which utilizes continuous variable cost has been used to model and solve distribution problems. However, many real distribution problem decisions which require various combination of fixed and variable cost and having several mixed variables of the binary integers and continuous types make this approach limited. This challenge requires new integrated models that are also NP hard for which exact algorithms such as Branch and bound, cutting plane algorithm may be inefficient to use as the problem size increases in practical business cases. We present in this paper, an integrated model of Facility Location (FL) …

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
In this paper, we use a functional analysis approach to prove the well-posedness for a parabolic system with a boundary Neumann condition and a nonlocal integral condition. The last step, is to establish the density of the range R(L) in the Hilbert space H, and hence the existence of a strong solution of the problem. The proof is mainly based on some a priori bounds and on some density arguments.
