On Solving Partial Differential Equations By A Coupling Of The Homotopy Perturbation Method And A New Integral Transform, Inas A. A., E. E. Eladdad

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

In this work, we use a combination between a new integral transform and the homotopy perturbation method. This combination presents an accurate methodology to obtain an exact and numerical solutions for linear and nonlinear partial differential equations. The aim of using this new integral transform is to overcome the deficiency. It is mainly caused by unsatisfied conditions in the other semi-analytical methods such as HPM, VIM, and ADM. More than, this new method appears more applicable, it needs fewer computations. As in the provided numerical example, this method can be used in engineering computations.

Comparative lifetime experiments are vital when the interest is in learning the overall benefits of two competing products with respect to their reliability. In this article, point and interval estimations for the unknown parameters of two Weibull- Fre ́chet populations based on joint progressive Type-II censoring samples are discussed. The point estimations for the two distribution parameters are obtained by the maximum likelihood, Bayes and parametric bootstrap methods. Moreover, approximate confidence intervals and credible intervals of the estimators have been obtained and compared with four bootstrap confidence intervals. Furthermore, Bayes estimators have been developed under squared error loss and linear …

Discrete Extended Erlang-Truncated Exponential Distribution And Its Applications, Alaa R. El-Alosey, Hussein Eledum

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

A new discrete distribution with three parameters called the Discrete Extended Erlang-Truncated Exponential distribution (DEETE) is proposed by using the general approach of discretizing a continuous distribution while retaining its survival function. Some statistical properties of the DEETE, such as the quantile function, moments, moment generating function, Renyi entropy and order statistics, are studied. The maximum likelihood method is utilized to estimate the parameters of the model. Some special cases of DEETE distribution are derived. The proposed distribution is applied to two real-life count data sets and compared with some related discrete distributions. Moreover, DEETE is used to fit some …

The Effects Of Magnetic Field On Boundary Layer Nano-Fluid Flow Over Stretching Sheet, Emad M. Abo-Eldahab, Rasha Adel, Hoda M. Mobarak, M. Abdelhakem

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

The effects of magnetic field on boundary layer nano-fluid flow over stretching sheet have been investigated. Different factors affecting the nano-fluid’s motion and particles have been studied, mainly the changes in the stretching sheet caused by an external magnetic field with nano-particles such as Cu. Therefore, we modified and improved a model to study boundary layers nano- fluid flow. That model’s partial differential equations (PDEs) will be transformed into a non-linear higher-order system of ordinary differential equations (h-order ODEs) using similarities transformation. The obtained system will be approximated using an efficient and accurate spectral residual method. This method is a …

On Dynamical Analysis Of A Prey-Diseased Predator Model With Refuge In Prey, Srinivasarao Thota, Abayomi Ayoade

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

In this paper, we propose a mathematical model of a prey-diseased predator model with refuge in prey system. In other words, a prey-predator model with an infectious disease in the prey population is formulated. This model is constituted by a system of three nonlinear ordinary differential equations of first order, which describe the interaction between the infected prey, non-infected prey and predator. The equilibria of the system are derived and the stability analyses of the disease-free and the endemic equilibria are conducted.

The Finite Bessel Transforms, Kenan Uriostegui, Kurt Bernardo Wolf Nov 2021

The Finite Bessel Transforms, Kenan Uriostegui, Kurt Bernardo Wolf

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

Special functions that are generated by a Fourier transform over a circle, also provide {\it discrete\/} counterparts, where the circle is substituted by $N$ equidistant points over that circle, with the finite Fourier transform over them. This process was applied to Bessel and Mathieu functions in [{\it Appl.\ Math.\ Inf.\ Sci.} {\bf 15}, {307--315} (2021)]. The resulting {\it discrete Bessel functions}, $B_n^\ssty{N}(x)$, $n\in\{0,1,\ldots,N{-}1\}$, satisfy the linear and Graf quadratic relations of their continuous counterparts, and provide a very close numerical approximation with $\lim_{N\to\infty}B_n^\ssty{N}(x) = J_n(x)$. In this paper, the $N\times N$ matrices ${\bf B}=\Vert B_{n,m}\Vert$, for $B_{n,m}:=B_n^\ssty{N}(x_m)$ over $x_m\in\{0,1,\ldots,\,N{-}1\}$, are …

A Note On Modules And Submodules Over Polynomial Rings, Carlos Henrique Tognon, Mansour Lotayif Sep 2021

A Note On Modules And Submodules Over Polynomial Rings, Carlos Henrique Tognon, Mansour Lotayif

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

In this paper, we consider R a commutative ring with identity non-zero and the R-module I(G), which is the edge ideal of a graph simple and finite G, with no isolated vertices. A submodule N of I(G) is called an edge dense submodule if HomR(I(G)/N,ER(I(G))) = 0, where ER(I(G)) is the injective hull of I(G). The R-module I(G) is said to be edge monoform if any nonzero submodule of I(G) is an edge dense submodule. Here in this paper, we presented some results which involve the definition of the module I(G) to be edge monoform.

On The Numerical Solution Of The Nonlocal Elliptic Problem With A P-Kirchhoff-Type Term, M. S. Daoussa Haggar, M. Mbehou

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

This work is devoted to the study of the finite element method for a class of nonlocal elliptic problems associated with p- Kirchhoff-type operator. The convergence and a priori error estimates for the discrete formulation are established. Moreover, the finite element formulation is nonlinear, it can then be solved by Newton-Raphson’s iterative but the main issue is that the Jacobian matrix of the Newton-Raphson method is full due to the presence of the nonlocal term thereby making computation expensive. To avoid this difficulty, the new formulation whose Jacobian matrix is sparse is given. Finally, the predictions observed theoretically are validated …

Linear Fractional Programming Based On Trapezoidal Neutrosophic Numbers, A. M. Elhadidi, O. E. Emam, A. M. Abdelfadel, Mansour Lotayif

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

In this paper, we introduce a new solution technique for resolving the neutrosophic linear fractional programming problem, where the objective function’s coefficients are neutrosophic trapezoidal-numbers. We convert the problem into a crisp multi-objective linear fractional programming. The transformed multi-objective linear fractional programming problem is reduced to a single-objective linear programming problem (LP) by using the proposed approach, which can be easily solved by suitable algorithm. A numerical example is given to verify the proposed method.

Mathematical Modelling Of An Advection-Driven Interspecific Competition, Joel N. Ndam, Christian O. Akaluzia, Hilal Al Bayatti Sep 2021

Mathematical Modelling Of An Advection-Driven Interspecific Competition, Joel N. Ndam, Christian O. Akaluzia, Hilal Al Bayatti

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

An advection-driven interspecific competition model is constructed, which we believe is more physically realistic as the movements of competing species are usually aimed at a target. Standard analysis using the travelling wave approach was employed, and the results show that the equilibrium points are independent of the advection velocities and the wave speed. However, the stability of each steady state depends on the wave speed and the advection velocities of the competing species. Conditions for the extinction and coexistence of the species were also obtained and illustrated using numerical simulations. The implication for ecological resource management is also highlighted.
