Solving Systems Of Linear Fractional Integro-Differential Equations With Delay Using Least Squares Method And Chebyshev Polynomials, Kamal R. Raslan, Khalid K. Ali, Emad M. H. Mohamed, Mansour Lotayif, Mohamed A. Abd El Salam

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

In this paper, a numerical scheme is introduced for solving a linear system of fractional delay integro-differential equations (FDIDEs). The fractional derivative is considered in the Caputo sense. The spectral least squares method with the aid of the first kind Chebyshev polynomials was introduced to treat the proposed systems. The suggested method reduces this type of system to the solution of a block system of linear algebraic equations. To demonstrate the accuracy and applicability of the presented method some test examples are provided. Numerical results show that this approach is easy to implement and accurate when applied to the proposed …

Explaining Ovarian Cancer Data With Increasing Hazard Model, Brijesh P. Singh, Utpal Dhar Das, Sandeep Singh, Mansour Lotayif

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

A single parameter model is developed in this study and used to understand ovarian cancer data. Its several mathematical and statistical properties such as the hazard rate function, moments, moment generating function, mean residual life function, renyi entropy, Bonferroni and Lorenz curve along with order statistics are derived. Maximum likelihood method is used to estimate the parameter. Also the importance of proposed model is checked for engineering data. Analysis reveals that the proposed model has potential to provide a better explanation than several existing lifetime models.

The Ornstein-Uhlenbeck Operator For Uncorrelated Random Variables, Adaobi Mmachukwu Udoye, Chisara Peace Ogbogbo, Ralph Agyei Twum

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

This work considers Ornstein-Uhlenbeck operator whose role in sensitivity analysis involving Malliavin calculus is of immense importance in different fields including financial mathematics. There is need to consider Ornstein-Uhlenbeck operator for uncorrelated random variables since certain phenomenon involve uncorrelated Gaussian random variables. Thus, we derive the operator for uncorrelated multivariate Gaussian random variables suitable for phenomenon involving multivariate random variables.

Symmetry Solutions And Conserved Quantities Of An Extended (1+3)-Dimensional Kadomtsev-Petviashvili- Like Equation, Oke Davies Adeyemo, Chaudry Masood Khalique

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

In this paper, we study an extended (1+3)-dimensional Kadomtsev-Petviashvili-like equation. Lie symmetry reductions of the equation were performed and direct integration technique was adopted. Kudryashov’s approach was utilized to generate a closed- form solution of the equation. Besides, we employ power series approach to secure a solution of the underlying equation. Solutions found for the underlying equation include hyperbolic function as well as series solutions of the equation. In conclusion, we construct conserved quantities of the aforementioned equation by invoking Ibragimov’s theorem.

Estimating Parameters Of A Seird Model Applied To Sars-Cov-2 Infections In Germany Based On The Particle Swarm Optimization Method, Evandro A. Nakajima, Antonio A. Ignacio, Denise Lange, Erika Izumi

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

The present paper describes a particle swarm optimization (PSO) method used to estimate parameters of a Susceptible- Exposed-Infected-Recovered-Dead (SEIRD) model applied to predict SARS-CoV-2 transmission in Germany, based on data from February 15th to April 25th, 2020, considering that the lockdown in the country started on March 23rd. The model estimated patients’ mortality (4.92%) and recovery rates (95.08%), virus incubation (8.54 days), infection periods (18.65 days), as well as the basic virus reproduction number before (R0 = 11.60) and after (R0 = 0.39) lockdown. The predicted values were accurate until the 70th day. The performances achieved by the model were …

Numerical And Asymptotic Study Of Non-Stationary Mass Transport Of Binary Salt Ions In The Diffusion Layer Near The Cation Exchange Membrane At Prelimiting Currents, Gudza V. A, Chubyr N. O, Kirillova E. V, Urtenov M. Kh

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

In this paper, we consider a depleted stationary diffusion layer adjacent to the ion-exchange membrane. The main goal is to study the structure of the diffusion layer over time. A one-dimensional non-stationary mathematical model of the transport of a binary electrolyte in a diffusion layer in a potentiostatic mode is investigated using the Nernst-Planck and Poisson equations. For the first time, it is shown that the left boundary of the space charge region is established quickly, approaching a certain straight line xc =const asymptotically. Using this fact, a new asymptotic solution is constructed. The original feature of the proposed asymptotic …

The Interaction Between M-Configuration Five-Level Atom And A Single Mode Cavity Field, N. H. Abd El-Wahab, R. M. Farghly, H. A. Hassan

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

The present paper aims to clarify several aspects of M-configuration five-level atom interacting with a single mode cavity field. The considered model is characterized by including both the detuning parameter and the initial field phase. The full solution of this model is given for the cases of resonance, off-resonance and non-resonance interaction when the atom is initially prepared in super-position state. However, the input radiation field is taken in a coherent state. Also, the influence of the presence and absent of the detuning parameter and the relative phase on the temporal evaluation for the collapses-revivals, the anti-bunching of photons, the …

Some New Inequalities For Lr-Log-H-Convex Interval-Valued Functions By Means Of Pseudo Order Relation, M. B. Khan, M. Aslam Noor, Hilal M. Y. Al-Bayatti, Khalida Inayat Noor

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

In this paper, we introduce the concept of LR-log-h-convex interval-valued functions. Under the new concept, we present new versions of Hermite-Hadamard inequalities (i.e. LR-interval Hermite-Hadamard type inequalities) by means of pseudo order relation. This order relation is defined on interval space. Some Jensen type inequalities are also derived for LR-log-h-convex interval-valued functions. Moreover, we have shown that our results include a wide class of new and known inequalities for LR-log-h-convex interval-valued functions and their variant forms as special cases. Useful examples that verify the applicability of the theory developed in this study are presented. The concepts and techniques of this …

On Solutions Of Fully Fuzzy Linear Fractional Programming Problems Using Close Interval Approximation For Normalized Heptagonal Fuzzy Numbers, Majed G. Alharbi, Hamiden Abd El- Wahed Khalifa

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

This paper attempts to solve the linear fractional programming problem with fully fuzzy normalized heptagonal fuzzy numbers using the close interval approximation of normalized heptagonal fuzzy number, which is one of the best interval approximations. The maximization (minimization) problem with interval objective function is converted into multi- objective based on order relations introduced by the decision makers’ preference between interval profits (costs). Finally, an example is presented to illustrate the proposed method.

A New Direction To The Maximal Flow Problem: A Route Merging Approach, Elias Munapo, Santosh Kumar, Kolentino Mpeta Jul 2021

A New Direction To The Maximal Flow Problem: A Route Merging Approach, Elias Munapo, Santosh Kumar, Kolentino Mpeta

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

The paper presents a new direction to the maximal flow problem. A maximal-flow problem involves finding the largest flow rate a network supply can have from the source to sink. The proposed algorithm solves the flow problem by merging flow routes iteratively until there is only one route left. It has the strength that the problem reduces in size at every iteration. The route merging algorithm belongs to a family of algorithms that solves by reducing the complexity of the flow problem. The flow problem has applications in the networking of pipes and road transportation networks.

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

In the present paper, the main theorems of the classical Laplace transform are generalized in the non-conforming Laplace transform with nucleus et−α . We calculate the Laplace transform of non-conforming agreement of this kernel from some elementary functions and establish the non-conforming version of the transform of the successive derivative, the integral of a function and the convolution of fractional functions. In addition, the bounded and the existence of the non-conforming Laplace transform is presented. Finally, we show the application of N1− Transform to solving fractional differential equations.

A Two-Group Model Of Tb In A Crowded Environment, Sibaliwe Maku Vyambwera, Peter Witbooi

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

In this paper, we introduce a two-group epidemic model of the dynamics of tuberculosis in a prison system. The total population of inmates consists of two groups: The sentenced inmates and those inmates who are awaiting trial. The threshold parameter for local stability is computed and analysed. We also prove the global stability of the disease free equilibrium using a Lyapunov function. We apply the model to South African data on tuberculosis and we observe consistency between the model prediction and the data. Numerical results are presented to illustrate the analytical results.

Using simulation, the percentiles for complete and right censored data and the power of our test statistic are tabulated. The pitman’s asymptotic efficiency is calculated to assess the performance of our proposed test with respect to other tests. Finally, medical applications for real data …

Estimation Of Parameters Of Burr Distribution Under Ssalt, M. O. Mohamed, Esraa Mohamed May 2021

Estimation Of Parameters Of Burr Distribution Under Ssalt, M. O. Mohamed, Esraa Mohamed

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

Reliability of a system under an accelerated life of step-stress with a progressive first failure sample of Burr distribution is investigated. The Burr distribution has an importance in applied engineering. Under normal circumstances, it is difficult to measure the lifetimes of the product to study the validity function. Failure rarely occurs, so we resort to the process of accelerating failure using accelerated life tests. Great results were scheduled in paper obtained using point-estimation methods such as the maximum likelihood estimator function (MLEs). Also, the mean square error (MSEs) is calculated from the estimated values. Confidence intervals were obtained with different …

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

This article discusses k-stage step-stress partially accelerated life test under Type-I progressive interval censoring with equal inspection intervals of length. The maximum likelihood and parametric bootstrap methods are used to obtain the estimators of the model parameters. Approximate confidence intervals for the unknown parameters are constructed based on the asymptotic variances when the lifetime of a testing unit are assumed to be generalized Pareto distribution. The methods for obtaining the optimal are investigated using the variance-optimality and determinant-optimality criteria. Monte Carlo simulation studies are addressed to illustrate the proposed criteria.

Discrete Bessel And Mathieu Functions, Kenan Uriostegui, Kurt Bernardo Wolf May 2021

Discrete Bessel And Mathieu Functions, Kenan Uriostegui, Kurt Bernardo Wolf

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

The two-dimensional Helmholtz equation separates in elliptic coordinates based on two distinct foci, a limit case of which includes polar coordinate systems when the two foci coalesce. This equation is invariant under the Euclidean group of translations and orthogonal transformations; we replace the latter by the discrete dihedral group of N discrete rotations and reflections. The separation of variables in polar and elliptic coordinates is then used to define discrete Bessel and Mathieu functions, as approximants to the well-known continuous Bessel and Mathieu functions, as N-point Fourier transforms approximate the Fourier transform over the circle, with integrals replaced by finite …
