Global Exponential Stability For A Class Of Impulsive Bam Neural Networks With Distributed Delays, I. M. Stamova, G. Tr. Stamov, J. O. Alzabut

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

In this paper, the exponential stability is investigated for a class of BAM neural networks with distributed delays and nonlinear impulsive operators. By using Lyapunov functions and applying the Razumikhin technique, delay–independent sufficient conditions ensuring the global exponential stability of equilibrium points are derived. These results can easily be utilized to design and verify globally stable networks. An illustrative example is given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the obtained results.

And-Not Logic Framework For Steady State Analysis Of Boolean Network Models, Alan Veliz-Cuba, Kristina Buschur, Rose Hamershock, Ariel Kniss, Esther Wolff, Reinhard Laubenbacher

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

In this paper we propose the class of AND-NOT networks for modeling biological systems and show that it provides several advantages. Some of the advantages include: Any finite dynamical system can be written as an AND-NOT network with similar dynamical properties. There is a one-to-one correspondence between AND-NOT networks, their wiring diagrams, and their dynamics. Results about AND-NOT networks can be stated at the wiring diagram level without losing any information. Results about AND-NOT networks are applicable to any Boolean network. We apply our results to a Boolean model of Th-cell differentiation.

Simulation Of Join Cardinalities In Random Databases Using Poisson Stochastic Processes, Letiția Velcescu Jul 2013

Simulation Of Join Cardinalities In Random Databases Using Poisson Stochastic Processes, Letiția Velcescu

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

In this paper, using Poisson stochastic processes, we introduce an approach to the problem of the approximate join operation in random databases. It is shown that the cardinalities of the result sets obtained from an approximate join operation follow this type of stochastic process. Initially, we treat the case of the approximate join between two random tables, which is accomplished using a homogeneous bidimensional Poisson process. Further, we extend the obtained result to the case of the multiple join. This generalization is made through a multidimensional Poisson process. As a consequence, the algorithms that simulate these processes can also simulate …

A Parameter-Uniform Method For Two Parameters Singularly Perturbed Boundary Value Problems Via Asymptotic Expansion, D. Kumar, A. S. Yadaw, M. K. Kadalbajoo

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

An approximate method for two parameters singularly perturbed boundary value problems having boundary layers at both end points is given. The method is motivated by the asymptotic behavior of the solution. In the outer region the solution of the problem is approximated by the zeroth order asymptotic expansion while in the inner region the solution of the problem is obtained by using Bspline collocation method. The method is iterated on the transition point of the boundary layer region. To demonstrate the applicability of the method two test examples are considered.

Global Error Minimization Method For Nonlinear Oscillators With Highly Nonlinearity, Muhammad Aslam Noor, Waseem Asghar Khan, Muhammad Arif

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

In this paper, we used Global ErrorMinimization (GEM)method for nonlinear oscillators. This method convert the nonlinear oscillators into an equivalent optimization problem to obtain an analytical solution of the problem. Approximate solution obtained by GEM method is compared with the solution of He’s variational approach. We observe from the results that this method is very simple, easy to apply, and gives a very good accuracy by using first-order approximation and simplest trial functions. Comparison made with other known results show that new method provides a mathematical tool to the determination of limit cycles of more complex nonlinear oscillators. This method …

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

In this paper, we have given numerical solutions of the elasticity problem of settled on the elastic ground with variable coefficient. Firstly, we calculate the generalized successive approximation of the given boundary value problem and we transform it into Pad´e series form, which give an arbitrary order for solving differential equation numerically. Secondly, we apply Homotopy Perturbation Method(HPM) to given boundary value problem. Then we compare HPM and the generalized successive approximation -Pad´e Approximates method by means of numerical solution of given

A Novel Remote User Authentication And Key Agreement Scheme For Mobile Client-Server Environment, Haiyan Sun, Qiaoyan Wen, Hua Zhang, Zhengping Jin

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

Recently, many identity (ID)-based user authentication and key agreement schemes for mobile client-server environment were proposed. However, these schemes are subjected to an inherent design weakness, namely, the server knows all users’ private keys. Under this problem, these schemes cannot provide insider attack resistance or mutual authentication. Furthermore, some of these schemes cannot simultaneously provide user anonymity, perfect forward secrecy, or leakage of session temporary secrets resistance. In this paper, we propose a strongly secure remote user authentication and key agreement scheme to solve these security weaknesses. Security proof shows that the proposed scheme can achieve mutual authentication and key …

Modeling Of A Power Amplifier For Digital Pre-Distortion Applications Using Simplified Complex Memory Polynomial, Ruchi Pasricha, Sanjay Sharma

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

With the advent of spectrally efficient wireless communication systems employing modulation schemes with varying amplitude of the communication signal, linearization techniques for nonlinear microwave power amplifiers have gained significant interest. The linearization task can be divided into two parts: exact modeling of the power amplifier (PA) to be linearized and development of linearization technique. In this paper PA modeling using simplified complex memory polynomial has been presented. The proposed model has been tested using two-tone method.

Some New Classes Of Quasi Split Feasibility Problems, Muhammad Aslam Noor, Khalida Inayat Noor

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

In thispaper, we introduce and consider a new problem of finding u ∈ K(u) such that Au ∈C, where K : u→K(u) is a closed convex-valued set in the real Hilbert space H1, C is closed convex set in the real Hilbert space H2 respectively and A is linear bounded self-adjoint operator from H1 and H2. This problem is called the quasi split feasibility problem. We show that the quasi feasibility problem is equivalent to the fixed point problem and quasi variational inequality. These s alternative equivalent formulations are used to consider the existence of a solution of the quasi …

Creating Unorganised Machines From Memristors, Gerard Howard, Larry Bull, Ben De Lacy Costello, Andrew Adamatzky

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

There is growing interest in memristive devices following their recent nanoscale fabrication. This paper describes initial consideration of the implementation of artificial intelligence within predominantly memristive hardware. In particular, versions of Alan Turing’s discrete dynamical network formalism — the unorganised machine — are used as the knowledge representation scheme and a population-based search technique is used to design appropriate networks. Issues including memristor count and global network synchrony are compared for two memristive logic implementations (NAND and IMP) on a well-known simulated robotics benchmark task. It is shown that IMP networks are harder to design than NAND, but are simpler …

Security Analysis Of Order Preserving Symmetric Cryptography, Santi Mart?Nez, Josep M. Miret, Rosana Tomàs, Magda Valls Jul 2013

Security Analysis Of Order Preserving Symmetric Cryptography, Santi Mart?Nez, Josep M. Miret, Rosana Tomàs, Magda Valls

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

Order preserving encryption is a type of homomorphic encryption in which the homomorphic operation is order comparison. This means that comparing encrypted data returns the same result than comparing the original data. This allows to order encrypted data without the need of decryption. A possible use for this kind of cryptosystems is in databases, where a record field may be encrypted and still permit range queries. An important problem is determining how good a particular order preserving encryption scheme is. In fact, characteristics of order preserving cryptosystems make traditional security analysis useless. In this paper, we propose two different methodologies, …

Equivalence Between Mirror-Field-Atom And Ion-Laser Interactions, R. Ju?Rez-Amaro, A. Z??Iga-Segundo, F. Soto-Eguibar, H.M. Moya-Cessa

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

We show that the interaction between a movable mirror with a quantized field that interacts with a two-level atom may be simplified via a transformation that involves Susskind-Glogower operators (SGO). By using this transformation it is easy to show that we can cast the Hamiltonian, after a unitary transformation, into a Hamiltonian that is equivalent to the ion-laser Hamiltonian. We would like to stress that the transformation in terms of SGO already simplifies enough the Hamiltonian in the sense that, in an exact way, it “eliminates” one of the three-subsystems, namely the quantized field.

The Taylor Matrix Method For Approximate Solution Of Lane-Emden Equation With Index-N, Coskun Guler, Ibrahim Emiroglu, Fatih Tasci, Mustafa Sivri

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

Many problems in mathematical physics can be formulated as an equation of Lane-Emden type. There are many methods for the solution of this equation. One of these methods is the Taylor matrix method. The only types of nonlinear equations that this method has been applied so far are the Riccati and Abel equations. In this study, an algorithm based on the Taylor matrix method is proposed and applied to the nonlinear Lane-Emden equation with index-n. An example is also given.

Secondly, GaussianMixture Model (GMM) clustering algorithm is used to describe and to model the super-pixels. Finally, a Monte Carlo based Expectation Maximization (EM) algorithm is used to perform parametric …

Observation, Characterization And Modeling Of Memristor Current Spikes, Ella Gale, Ben De Lacy Costello, Andrew Adamatzky Jul 2013

Observation, Characterization And Modeling Of Memristor Current Spikes, Ella Gale, Ben De Lacy Costello, Andrew Adamatzky

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

Memristors have been compared to neurons (usually specifically the synapses) since 1976 but no experimental evidence has been offered for support for this position. Here we highlight that memristors naturally form fast-response, highly reproducible and repeatable current spikes which can be used in voltage-driven neuromorphic architecture. Ease of fitting current spikes with memristor theories both suggests that the spikes are part of the memristive effect and provides modeling capability for the design of neuromorphic circuits.

Lag Synchronization Of Hyperchaotic Complex Nonlinear Systems Via Passive Control, Emad E. Mahmoud

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

In this paper we study and investigate the Lag synchronization (LS) of hyperchaotic complex nonlinear systems by using passive control theory. LS of these hyperchaotic complex systems via passive control has not received enough attentions, as far as we know, in the literature. Based on the property of the passive system the passive controller is stated to achieve LS of two identical hyperchaotic complex Lorenz systems. These complex systems appear in many important fields of physics and engineering. The analytical results of the controllers, which have been calculated by using our scheme, are tested numerically and good agreement is obtained.

A Comparative Study On The Algorithms For A Generalized Josephus Problem, Lei Wang, Xiaodong Wang

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

The classic Josephus problem can be described as follows: There are n objects, consecutively numbered from 1 through n, arranged in a circle. We are given a positive integer k. Beginning with a designated first object, we proceed around the circle, removing every kth object. After each object is removed, counting continues around the circle that remains. This process continues until all n objects have been removed. In a generalized Josephus problem, a number of lives l is introduced for the problem. Each object has l lives. The object is removed only when it has been selected l times. In …
