The quality of selected component services is crucial for the performance of the service composition. Therefore, it has become a hot issue to select the best services from a set of services with similar functionality. Recently, skyline has been introduced to solve the problem by selecting skyline services as the best candidate services. In this paper, we focus on selecting skyline services in dynamic …

An Enhanced Password-Based Group Key Agreement Protocol With Constant Rounds, Wei Yuan, Liang Hu Sep 2014

An Enhanced Password-Based Group Key Agreement Protocol With Constant Rounds, Wei Yuan, Liang Hu

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

In PKC 2006, Abdalla et al. proposed a password-based group key exchange protocol with constant rounds and proved that protocol could resist the offline dictionary attacks in the random-oracle and ideal-cipher models. Then they proposed an open problem whether an adversary can test more than one password in the same session with online dictionary attack. To answer this question, they presented an online dictionary attack against their own protocol and declared that this new method is invalid to their protocol. In this paper, based on Abdalla et al.’s attack, we propose a modified attack and apply it to their protocol. …

Real Coded Genetic Algorithm For Design Of Iir Digital Filter With Conflicting Objectives, Ranjit Kaur, Manjeet Singh Patterh, J. S. Dhillon

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

A solution methodology for the design of digital infinite impulse response (IIR) filter considering multiple conflicting objectives has been proposed. The nucleus of the method is that multiple objectives can be attuned suitably, to optimize the performance in pass bands, stop bands and transition bands of IIR digital filters. The proposed method uses multiobjective optimization approach for designing stable IIR filter using real-coded genetic algorithm (RCGA). Digital IIR filters are designed by minimizing magnitude response and phase response simultaneously, using weighted sum approach. The value of weights are searched using RCGA along with filter coefficients thus assigning different weight vector …

Visual secret checking refers to the superimposition of one key image and another public sharing image without auxiliary automated computation, in order to recognize the specified secret via human inspection. This paper achieves the goals of: guaranteeing that the related contents of a secret are not revealed after any public sharing image superimposition, confirming the accuracy of any public sharing image, and providing for the ease of management of various types of sharing images. When a user is outside of a computer environment, he/she can utilize the proposed method to discern the contents of the secret independently. Furthermore, the key …

Multi-Focus Image Fusion Using An Improved Differential Evolution Algorithm And Adaptive Block Mechanism, Feng Yong, Li Tiezhu, Zhou Shangbo Sep 2014

Multi-Focus Image Fusion Using An Improved Differential Evolution Algorithm And Adaptive Block Mechanism, Feng Yong, Li Tiezhu, Zhou Shangbo

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

Multi-focus image fusion based on differential evolution algorithm has been demonstrated to be a simple and efficient method. However, several some problems remain. First, the fusion rulesin which the best block size is selected is only based on the original differential evolution algorithm, which easily falls into the local convergence and thus affects the global search ability. When the sharpness values of the corresponding blocks are equal, the method becomes ineffective, because the block effect is enhanced. Secondthe algorithm ignores image size. Thus, calculating larger pictures becomes complex and time consuming. Clear and fuzzy areas are further divided, thus causing …

Developing Acceptance Sampling Plans Based On Incapability Index Cpp, Liang-Chyau Sheu, Chi-Huang Yeh, Ching-Ho Yen, Chia-Hao Chang

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

Most acceptancesampling plans focus on the percentage of defective products instead of considering the process loss, which doesn’t distinguish among the products that fall within the specification limits. Therefore, it is essential to develop an acceptance sampling plan with process loss consideration. In this paper, a variable sampling plan based on incapability index Cpp is proposed to deal with lot sentencing. The required sample sizesn and the critical acceptance value c with some combination of acceptance quality level are tabulated. One example is used to illustrate the proposed methodology. The proposed sampling plan provides a feasible policy, which can be applied …

Cost-Based Query Optimization For Xpath, Dong Li, Wenhao Chen, Xiaochong Liang, Jida Guan, Yang Xu, Xiuyu Lu

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

In this article, we address the issues which are related to the cost-based XML query optimization for XPath. Specially, we focus on the issue of how to determine the execution order for a given XPath expression according to the cost models. The main impact factor that dominates the execution order is the size of the intermediate results during the evaluation of queries. The hierarchy encoding scheme and the value-encoding histogram are introduced to support the size estimation of the path expressions. Two cost models are proposed to describe the costs of different types of join operations in the path expressions. …

Mining Approximate Keys Based On Reasoning From Xml Data, Yijun Liu, Feiyue Ye, Jixue Liu, Sheng He

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

Keys are very important for data management. Due to the hierarchical structure and syntactic flexibility of XML, mining keys from XML data is a more complex and difficult task than from relational databases. In discovering keys from XML data there are some challenges in practice such as unclearness of keys, storage of enormous keys, efficient mining algorithms, etc. In this paper, in order to fill the gap between theory and practice, we propose a novel approximate measure of the support and confidence for XML keys on the basis of the number of null values on key paths. In the mining …

Many-Objective Portfolio Optimization Of Interdependent Projects With A Priori Incorporation Of Decision-Maker Preferences, Laura Cruz, Eduardo Fernandez, Claudia Gomez, Gilberto Rivera, Fatima Perez Jul 2014

Many-Objective Portfolio Optimization Of Interdependent Projects With A Priori Incorporation Of Decision-Maker Preferences, Laura Cruz, Eduardo Fernandez, Claudia Gomez, Gilberto Rivera, Fatima Perez

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

Project portfolio selection is one of the most important problems faced by any organization. The decision process involves multiple conflicting criteria, and has been commonly addressed by implementing a two-phase procedure. The first step identifies the efficient solution set; the second step supports the decision maker in selecting only one portfolio solution from the efficient set. However, several recent studies show the advantages gained by optimizing towards a region of interest (according to the decision maker’s preferences) instead of approximating the complete Pareto set. However, these works have not faced synergism and its variants, such as cannibalization and redundancy. In …

Function Analysis Of Mature Products Based On Function Unit Table, Tong Yifei, Tang Zhaohui, Gu Feng, Zhang Jinlong, Mei Song, Gong Zhibing

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

Product functional analysis is the foundation of product modularization. Before product module division, function-related analysis of every component or function unit is necessary. As for completely innovative products, the traditional methods are consistent with the habits of designers mind and can help product innovation, while it is difficult to determine the function decomposition granularity. The issue of function decomposition granularity determination challenges the same for mature products. To achieve the function decomposition of made-products, bottom-up function decomposition are proposed and researched. Firstly, determine the possible function unit (bottom function) list for mature products. Secondly, cluster the function units to get …

Metric Dimension And Exchange Property For Resolving Sets In Rotationally-Symmetric Graphs, Rishi Naeem, Muhammad Imran Jul 2014

Metric Dimension And Exchange Property For Resolving Sets In Rotationally-Symmetric Graphs, Rishi Naeem, Muhammad Imran

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

Metric dimension or location number is a generalization of affine dimension to arbitrary metric spaces (provided a resolving set exists). Let F be a family of connected graphs Gn : F = (Gn)n≥1 depending on n as follows: the order |V(G)| = j(n) and lim n→¥ j(n) = ¥. If there exists a constant C > 0 such that dim(Gn) ≤ C for every n ≥ 1 then we shall say that F has bounded metric dimension, otherwise F has unbounded metric dimension. If all graphs in F have the same metric dimension (which does not depend on n), F is …

Asymptotic Stability Criteria For A Class Of Impulsive Functional Differential Systems, Martin J. Bohner, Ivanka M. Stamova Jul 2014

Asymptotic Stability Criteria For A Class Of Impulsive Functional Differential Systems, Martin J. Bohner, Ivanka M. Stamova

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

In this paper, a class of impulsive functional differential systems is investigated. It is proved that for the asymptotic stability of the zero solution of the system considered, it is sufficient that only some components of the right-hand side of the system are bounded for unbounded values of time. For functional differential equations without impulses, similar results were proved by Burton and Makay using Lyapunov–Krasovskii functionals. The goal of this paper is to prove these criteria for a class of impulsive functional differential systems with variable impulsive perturbations applying the Lyapunov–Razumikhin technique.

A New Family Of The Λ -Generalized Hurwitz-Lerch Zeta Functions With Applications, H. M. Srivastava

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

Motivated largely by a number of recent investigations, we introduce and investigate the various properties of a certain new family of the l -generalized Hurwitz-Lerch zeta functions. We derive many potentially useful results involving these l -generalized Hurwitz-Lerch zeta functions including (for example) their partial differential equations, new series and Mellin-Barnes type contour integral representations (which are associated with Fox’s H-function) and several other summation formulas. We discuss their potential application in Number Theory by appropriately constructing a seemingly novel continuous analogue of Lippert’s Hurwitz measure. We also consider some other statistical applications of the family of the l -generalized Hurwitz-Lerch …

Circuit Simulation Of An Analog Secure Communication Based On Synchronized Chaotic Chua’S System, M. Halimi, K. Kemih, M. Ghanes

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

This paper presents an effective technique for both synchronization and secure communication. In particular, an adaptive sliding mode observer is developed and practically implemented. Only one component of the state vector of the transmitter, that satisfies the observability matching condition, is sent to the receiver via a public channel, which is a sliding mode observer. This observer is able to estimate the state vector of the transmitter and then, reconstruct the unknown information hidden in the transmitted with inclusion encryption. Finally, the chaotic secure communication system is simulated with matlab and then practically implemented by electrical circuits with Multisim software …

Cyclic Contractions And Related Fixed Point Theorems On G-Metric Spaces, N. Bilgili, Ĺ. M. Erhan, E. Karapınar, D. Türkoğlu

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

Very recently, Jleli and Samet [53] and Samet et. al. [52] reported that some fixed point result in G-metric spaces can be derived from the fixed point theorems in the setting of usual metric space. In this paper, we prove the existence and uniqueness of fixed points of certain cyclic mappings in the context of G-metric spaces that can not be obtained by usual fixed point results via techniques used in [53,52]. We also give an example to illustrate our statements.
