Several Ways To Solve The Jaynes-Cummings Model, R. Ju?Rez-Amaro, A. Z??Iga-Segundo, H. M. Moya-Cessa

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

We go through the several ways that the Jaynes-Cummings model, a cornerstone in the study of light-matter interactions, may be solved. We emphasize two not well known methods (one based on the London phase operator and the other one on the direct diagonalization of the Hamiltonian) considering that they may be of help for solving other systems like the interaction of light with a moving mirror, ion-laser interactions, etc.

Image Retrieval Based On Va-File And Multi-Resolution Bow, Wang Lipin, Pu Juncheng

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

By the virtue of BOF to describe high-dimensional data, in this article, we propose an effective retrieval strategy employing multi-resolution BOF to accelerate the match. The main idea is to improve the overall retrieval efficiency of BOF Descriptive Vector via the construction of BOF Low-resolution Vector and the comparison under low resolution to filter high-resolution candidate vectors. Based on stratified construction, we have improved uniform quantization multi-resolution BOF and proposed a non-linear Non-uniform quantization multi-resolution BOF method, which is combined with VA-file. At last, K-nearest neighbor retrieval algorithm is given. Experiments prove that this method has effectively increased the retrieval …

Convergence Analysis Of Jacobi Pseudo-Spectral Method For The Volterra Delay Integro-Differential Equations, Zhang Xiao-Yong, Li Junlin

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

The Jacobi pseudo-spectral method for the Volterra delay integro-differential equations of the second kind is proposed in this paper. We provide a rigorous error analysis for the proposed method, which indicates that the numerical errors (in the L2w a,b -norm and the L¥-norm ) will decay exponentially provided that the source function is sufficiently smooth. Numerical examples are given to illustrate the theoretical results.

A Modified Artificial Bee Colony Algorithm For Solving Least-Cost Path Problem In Raster Gis, Khalid A. Eldrandaly, Mohammed M. Hassan, Nabil M. Abdelaziz

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

The computation of least-cost paths over a cost surface is a well-known and widely used capability of raster geographic information systems (GISs). It consists of finding the path with the lowest accumulated cost between two locations in a raster model of a cost surface. This paper presents a modified Artificial Bee Colony (ABC) algorithm for solving least-cost path problem in a raster-based GIS. This modification includes the incorporation of a distinct feature which is not present in the classical ABC. A new component, the direction guidance search method, is used to guide a bee walking toward the final destination more …

The Second Order Commutative Pairs Of A First Order Linear Time-Varying System, Mehmet Emir Koksal

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

Although several publications have been appeared about the commutativity of linear time-varying systems, no research has appeared so far on the evaluation of higher order commutative pairs of a low-order system. The attempt in this paper is to fill this vacancy partially by giving the explicit results for finding all the second order commutative pairs of a first order linear time-varying system. The derived theoretical results are verified by an example.

Applications Of Adaptive Multi Step Differential Transform Method To Singular Perturbation Problems Arising In Science And Engineering, Essam R. El-Zahar

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

In this paper, piecewise-analytical and numerical solutions of singular perturbation initial-value problems are obtained by an adaptive multi-step differential transform method (MsDTM). The principle of the method is introduced, and then applied to different types of practical problems arising in science and engineering. Analytical and numerical solutions are obtained using piecewise convergent series with easily computable components over a sequence of variable-length sub-intervals. Numerical results are compared to those obtained by the classical MsDTM and the Runge-Kutta method. The results demonstrate the reliability and efficiency of the method in solving the considered problems.

A New Zone Disjoint Multi Path Routing Algorithm To Increase Fault-Tolerant In Mobile Ad Hoc Networks, Hoda Rafiee Pour, Marjan Kuchaki Rafsanjani, Hamid Saadat

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

In Mobile Ad-hoc Networks, there is no fixed infrastructure, router and station and so all network operations such as routing are being done with nodes. Some routing algorithms of Mobile Ad-hoc Networks perform routing in a multi-path manner and simultaneously discover and record a number of paths in a path discovery process. In these algorithms, it is possible to send information to destination concurrently using several paths, in order to balance the load in the network, increase end to end bandwidth, and decrease delay. In this case, selecting node disjoint paths is one of the best options because of increasing …

Group Classification, Symmetry Reductions And Exact Solutions Of A Generalized Korteweg-De Vries-Burgers Equation, Abdullahi Rashid Adem, Chaudry Masood Khalique, Motlatsi Molati

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

Lie group classification is performed on the generalized Korteweg-de Vries-Burgers equation ut +d uxxx +g(u)ux −nuxx + g u= f (x), which occurs in many applications of physical phenomena. We show that the equation admits a four-dimensional equivalence Lie algebra. It is also shown that the principal Lie algebra consists of a single translation symmetry. Several possible extensions of the principal Lie algebra are computed and their associated symmetry reductions and exact solutions are obtained. Also, one-dimensional optimal system of subalgebras is obtained for the case when the principal Lie algebra is extended by two symmetries.
