Capacity Of Middleton Class-A Impulsive Noise Channel With Binary Input, Mihaela Andrei, Lucian Trifina, Daniela Tarniceriu
Capacity Of Middleton Class-A Impulsive Noise Channel With Binary Input, Mihaela Andrei, Lucian Trifina, Daniela Tarniceriu
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
In many applications, the Middleton Class-A model is used to describe the impulsive noise. A very useful and interesting aspect for a channel affected by such, non-Gaussian noise, is to find an expression for the channel capacity. In this paper we present the calculation of capacity for a channel affected by additive Middleton Class-A noise (AWCN), with binary input. We considered the case when the source is uniform, but also when it is not uniform. The channel capacities for impulsive noise, for various values of the parameters that describe its model, are compared with those for the additive white Gaussian …

Derivation Of Thermal Relaxation Time Between Two-Phase Flow Under The Effect Of Heating Sink, S. A. Mohammadein, M. I. Elgammal
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
In the present paper, the thermal relaxation time of a mixture surrounding a growing vapour bubbles between two-phase temperatures under the effect of heating sink is investigated. The mathematical model obtained by Mohammadein [6] is extended and solved analytically by using similarity parameters method; which used by Mohammadein [5] between two finite boundaries. Under the initial and final boundaries of growing vapour bubbles, thermal relaxation time is derived in terms of void fraction and affected by initial superheating and thermal diffusivity. Thermal relaxation time under the effect of heating sink performs a lower values than the previous pressure and thermal …

A Coverage Monitoring Algorithm Based On Learning Automata For Wireless Sensor Networks, Habib Mostafaei, Mehdi Esnaashari, Mohammad Reza Meybodi
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
To cover a set of targets with known locations within an area with limited or prohibited ground access using a wireless sensor network, one approach is to deploy the sensors remotely, from an aircraft. In this approach, the lack of precise sensor placement is compensated by redundant de-ployment of sensor nodes. This redundancy can also be used for extending the lifetime of the network, if a proper scheduling mechanism is available for scheduling the active and sleep times of sensor nodes in such a way that each node is in active mode only if it is required to. In this …

A Study For Mhd Boundary Layer Flow Of Variable Viscosity Over A Heated Stretching Sheet Via Lie-Group Method, Hossam S. Hassan, Samar A. Mahrous, A. Sharara, A. Hassan
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
The present work deals with the study of Magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) boundary layer flow over a heated stretching sheet with variable fluid viscosity. The fluid viscosity is assumed to vary as a linear function of temperature in the presence of uniform transverse magnetic field. The fluid is assumed to be electrically conducting. Lie-group method is applied for determining symmetry reductions for the MHD boundary-layer equations. Lie-group method starts out with a general infinitesimal group of transformations under which the given partial differential equations are invariant. The determining equations are a set of linear differential equations, the solution of which gives the …

Recently new mobile devices such as cellular phones, smartphones, and digital cameras are popularly used to take photos. By virtue of these convenient instruments, we can take many photos easily, but we suffer from the difficulty of managing and searching photos due to their large volume. This paper develops a mobile application software, called Photo Cube, which automatically extracts various metadata for photos (e.g., date/time, address, place name, weather, personal event, etc.) by taking advantage of sensors and programming functions embedded in mobile smartphones like Android phones or iPhones. To avoid heavy network traffic and high processing overhead, it clusters …

Shuffled Frog Leaping Algorithm Based Unequal Clustering Strategy For Wireless Sensor Networks, Xunli Fan, Feiefi Du
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
In energy-limited WSNs, coverage and connectivity are two of the most fundamental QoS issues, which have a great impact on the performance of WSNs for minimizing the node energy consumption and maximizing the network coverage lifetime. Due to the node distribution, the energy consumption among nodes is more imbalanced in cluster-based WSNs. Based on this problem, this paper proposes Sink Mobility based Energy Balancing Unequal Clustering protocol (SMEBUC) for WSNs with node distribution, which chooses the nodes with more energy as cluster heads and divides all nodes into clusters of different size through the improved Shuffled Frog Leaping Algorithm (SFLA). …

Mining Vehicles Frequently Appearing Together From Massive Passing Records, Dongjin Yu, Wensheng Dou, Wanqing Li, Suhang Zheng, Jianhua Shao
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
Vehicles Frequently Appearing Together, or VFATs, can be clues in solving criminal cases. Traditional sequence mining approaches help identify VFATs from passing-through records collected at monitoring sites. However, huge traffic data streams hinder fast identification of VFATs. In this paper, we present a multi-threaded approach to fast identification of VFATs based on multi-core processors, called Frequent Sequential Mining based on Multi-Cores (FSMMC). It parallels the execution of tasks, partitions large volumes of data, and obtains VFATs by merging local candidates discovered in different threads running on different processor cores. Through local parallel reduction, FSMMC eliminates the repetitive patterns and reduces …

Virtual Token Passing Protocol Applicable To Manufacturing Sensor Networks, Ping Ren
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
In this paper, a virtual token passing protocol has been proposed, in which sensor nodes join in the different subnets according to the received signal strength and the number of sensor nodes in the subnet to decrease the transmitting power to reduce energy consumption as far as possible. Secondly, router nodes adopt different RF to polling for new sensor node and neighboring subnets use different channels to realize internal communication, and this can not only improve the network capacity, but also reduce the interference between subnets and sensor nodes. Thirdly, the address of sensor nodes in subnet is allocated by …

Instantaneous Gradient Based Dual Mode Wavelet Neural Network Blind Equalization For Underwater Acoustic Channel, Ying Xiao, Yuhua Dong
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
To further improve the performance of wavelet neural network blind equalization based on constant modulus algorithm (CMA) cost function, an instantaneous gradient based dual mode between modified constant modulus algorithm (MCMA) and decision directed (DD) algorithm was proposed. The wavelet neural network weights change quantity of the adjacent iterative process is defined as instantaneous gradient. After the network attains convergence, the weights of wavelet neural network achieve a stable energy state and the instantaneous gradient would be zero. Therefore dual mode algorithm can be realized by criterion which set according to the instantaneous gradient. Computer simulation results show that the …

Multi Objective Particle Swarm Optimization Based Mixed Size Module Placement In Vlsi Circuit Design, Gholamreza Karimi, Hosna Akbarpour, Arash Sadeghzadeh
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
Placement process is one of the vital stages in physical design. In this stage, modules and elements of circuit are placed in distinct locations according to optimization basis. Placement algorithms try to minimize the longest delay along the paths in the circuit and/or minimize the total wire length. So placement is an important step in circuit architecture. After it, we can reach to routing stage. It is known that particle swarm optimization (PSO) is one of the practical evolutionary algorithms for this kind of applications. In this project, a novel method for optimized module placement has been used. According to …

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
In order to improve the generalization capability of process neural network (PNN), a novel learning algorithm is proposed based on basis function expansion (BFE) algorithm and artificial bee colony (ABC) algorithm, named BFE-ABC algorithm. First, the input functions and weight functions are simplified through BFE algorithm. The parameter space is transformed from function space to real number space in this way. Then, the PNN is designed to parametric representation through introducing two Boolean variables and one multidimensional parameter. At last, the multidimensional parameter composed of hidden neurons, expansion items and connection weights is optimized in real number space by ABC …

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
Our aim in this paper is to introduce and study a new sort of fuzzy ternary subsemigroup (left ideal, right ideal, lateral ideal, quasi-ideal, bi-ideal) of a ternary semigroup, called interval-valued (a,b )-fuzzy ternary subsemigroup (left ideal, right ideal, lateral ideal, quasi-ideal, bi-ideal). We also characterize regular ternary semigroups in terms of these interval-valued fuzzy ideals.

Numerical Modelling Of Biological Systems With Memory Using Delay Differential Equations, Fathalla A. Rihan, Bassel F. Rihan
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
This is a review article, to show the consistency of delay differential equations with biological systems with memory, in which we present a class of mathematical models with time-lags in immunology, physiology, epidemiology and cell growth. We also incorporate optimal control parameters into a delay model to describe the interactions of the tumour cells and immune response cells with external therapy. We then study parameter estimations and sensitivity analysis with delay differential equations. Sensitivity analysis is an important tool for understanding a particular model, which is considered as an issue of stability with respect to structural perturbations in the model. …

Study On Traffic Current Of Lane Reduction Bottleneck Under Open Boundary Condition, Zhipeng Li, Run Zhang, Shangzhi Xu, Yeqing Qian
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
In this paper, traffic current of the lane reduction bottleneck for two-lane road merging into single-lane road under open boundary condition is investigated numerically for different upstream arrival rates and downstream departure rates. We find that traffic current at the bottleneck will reach its capacity when the upstream arrival rate exceeds a critical value with a free downstream traffic flow, while the current decreases with the decrease of the downstream departure rate when the downstream departure rate is less than the capacity of the bottleneck. Two representative cases, which are downstream departure rates being less than and greater than the …

Vms Placement Strategy Based On Distributed Parallel Ant Colony Optimization Algorithm, Gaochao Xu, Yushuang Dong, Xiaodong Fu
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
Cloud computing is at the forefront of information technology. Cloud computing led to abandon the use of expensive mainframe. It becomes a trend that data center uses the cluster which is relatively cheap and virtualization technologies to provide infrastructure services. To improve the utilization rate of the cloud center and decrease the operating cost, the cloud center provides services to users as required by sharding the resources with virtualization. Because consideration should be given to both QoS for users and cost saving for cloud computing providers, cloud providers try to maximize performance and minimize energy cost as well. In this …

A Real-Field Public Key Cryptosystem Based On Sparse Recovery, Zaixing He, Xinyue Zhao, Shuyou Zhang
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
An efficient and secure real-field public key cryptosystem (PKC) based on sparse recovery is proposed. The security of the proposed cryptosystem depends on the following facts: 1. when the measurement matrix is known, the decryption algorithm, Cross Low-dimensional Pursuit, can efficiently solve the sparse recovery problem, where the sparse vector has a relatively high proportion of nonzeros; 2. without the measurement matrix, it is NP-hard to directly solve the sparse recovery problem. The proposed PKC is novel. First, unlike the traditional PKCs that are defined in finite fields, the proposed PKC is defined in the real field. Second, unlike popular …

Review Of Polarization Observables In Incoherent Pion Photoproduction On The Deuteron, Eed M. Darwish
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
Polarization observables in incoherent pion photoproduction from the deuteron are investigated in the energy region from p-threshold up to the D (1232)-resonance with inclusion of all leading pNN effects. Formal expressions for polarization observables are derived and described by various beam, target and beam-target asymmetries for polarized photons and/or polarized deuterons. For the elementary pion photoproduction operator on the free nucleon, a realistic effective Lagrangian approach is used which includes seven nucleon resonances, in addition to Born and vector-meson exchange terms. The interactions in the final two-body subsystems are taken from separable representations of realistic potentials. Results are given for …

Multiple Attacks On Authentication Protocols For Low-Cost Rfid Tags, Zeeshan Bilal, Keith Martin, Qasim Saeed
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
In this paper, we present a security analysis of two authentication protocols SIDRFID and DIDRFID, proposed for low-cost RFID systems. These protocols are considered to employ ultra-lightweight functions and are very efficient. However, we demonstrate design flaws that result in full secret disclosure in both protocols. These disclosure attacks undermine the security of both protocols. Further analysis highlights additional attacks including traceability and reader impersonation.

An Abductive Framework For Knowledge Base Dynamics, Radhakrishnan Delhibabu
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
The dynamics of belief and knowledge is one of the major components of any autonomous system that should be able to incorporate new pieces of information. We introduced the knowledge base dynamics to deal with two important points: first, to handle belief states that need not be deductively closed; and the second point is the ability to declare certain parts of the belief as immutable. In this paper, we address another, radically new approach to this problem. This approach is very close to the Hansson’s dyadic representation of belief. Here, we consider the immutable part as defining a new logical …
