Standard Map Spatial Dynamics In A Ring-Phase Conjugated Resonator, Vicente Aboites, Mario Wilson, Kaliope Lomel?
Standard Map Spatial Dynamics In A Ring-Phase Conjugated Resonator, Vicente Aboites, Mario Wilson, Kaliope Lomel?
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
The spatial dynamics of an optical ring phase-conjugated resonator with Standard chaos is presented. It is shown that this behavior takes place when a specific chaos-generating element is introduced on the resonator. Assuming ray optics inside the cavity with parameters p and q for the effective distance to the optical axis and the angle to the same axis (beam’s divergence) respectively. The matrix of a standard map generating device is found in terms of the specific map parameters, the state variables and the resonator parameters. One interesting feature of these kind of systems is that allow to model different bigger …
Fusion Of Completed Local Binary Pattern Features With Curvelet Features For Mammogram Classification, Syed Jamal Safdar Gardezi, Ibrahima Faye
Fusion Of Completed Local Binary Pattern Features With Curvelet Features For Mammogram Classification, Syed Jamal Safdar Gardezi, Ibrahima Faye
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
In this paper, fusion of texture features to improve classification accuracy by false positive reduction in mammograms is proposed. The method uses texture features obtained from completed local binary pattern (CLBP) and grey level texture features obtained from the Curvelet sub-bands. In the current experiments, mass and normal patches were obtained from Mammographic image analysis Society (MIAS) and Image retrieval in medical applications (IRMA) datasets for mammograms. Texture features from both methods are combined together to obtain the feature fusion matrix. Then Nearest neighbor classifier was used for classification to evaluate the individual as well as enhanced features obtained from …

Location-Based Service Composition Algorithm In A Wireless Ad Hoc Network, Songqiao Han, Xiaoling Hao, Hailiang Huang, Songxin Wang, Yong Zhang
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
Location is increasingly becoming a crucial criterion of Quality of Service (QoS) in mobile computing environments due to the widespread adoption of location-sensing devices. Although some previous work has studied the service composition protocols based on QoS in ad hoc networks, they do not explicitly take services’ location into account. In this paper, we present a distributed service composition algorithm suitable for ad hoc networks to find the optimal composite service with the lowest cost while satisfying distance constraint. Based on the idea of a source-initiated on-demand protocol, a transmission approach of service request messages is exploited to dynamically discover …

Combinatorial Analysis Of Diagonal, Box, And Greater-Than Polynomials As Packing Functions, Jose Torres-Jimenez, Nelson Rangel-Valdez, Raghu N. Kacker, James F. Lawrence
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
A packing function is a bijection between a subset V ⊆ Nm and N, where N denotes the set of non negative integers N. Packing functions have several applications, e.g. in partitioning schemes and in text compression. Two categories of packing functions are Diagonal Polynomials and Box Polynomials. The bijections for diagonal ad box polynomials have mostly been studied for small values of m. In addition to presenting bijections for box and diagonal polynomials for any value of m, we present a bijection using what we call Greater-Than Polynomial between restricted m−dimensional vectors over Nm and N. We give details …
A Delayed Mathematical Model For The Acute Inflammatory Response To Infection, Carlo Bianca, Luca Guerrini, Julien Riposo
A Delayed Mathematical Model For The Acute Inflammatory Response To Infection, Carlo Bianca, Luca Guerrini, Julien Riposo
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
This paper deals with further developments on a mathematical model recently proposed for the modeling of the acute inflammatory response to infection or trauma. In particular in order to take into account that some interactions have not an immediate effect, we introduce time delays. Specifically the paper deals with the existence of steady states, determining the parameter regimes where the equilibrium points are stable, and the onset of Hopf bifurcation appears. Numerical simulations are performed with the main aim of supporting the analytical results and investigate further dynamics.

Lie Symmetry Analysis And Conservation Laws For A Fisher Equation With Variable Coefficients, Mar?A Rosa, Mar?A S. Bruz?N, Mar?A L. Gandarias
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
In this paper, we study a generalized Fisher equation with variable coefficients which has applications governing the spatiotemporal dynamics of the bacterial population and tumor growth. Conservation laws for this equation are constructed for the first time by using the new conservation theorem due to Ibragimov as well as the Lie symmetries. Furthermore, some conservation laws are derived by employing the direct multipliers method of Anco and Bluman.

Federated Sparql Basic Graph Pattern Optimization Using Links Over The Web Of Linked Data, Xuejin Li, Zhendong Niu
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
The fast growth of the web of linked data raises new challenges for distributed query processing. Different from traditional federated databases, linked data sources cannot cooperate with each other. Hence, sophisticated optimization techniques are necessary for efficient query processing. In this paper, we formalize the problem of Basic Graph Pattern (BGP) optimization for federated SPARQL queries over the Web of Linked Data. We define and analyze the characteristics of source selection for links based static BGP optimization. The classes of bound subject and object associated with bound predicates of triple patterns are first used to select the set of relevant …

The K-Metric Dimension Of A Graph, Alejandro Estrada-Moreno, Juan A. Rodr?Guez-Vel?Zquez, Ismael G. Yero
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
As a generalization of the concept of a metric basis, this article introduces the notion of k-metric basis in graphs. Given a connected graph G = (V,E), a set S ⊆V is said to be a k-metric generator for G if the elements of any pair of different vertices of G are distinguished by at least k elements of S, i.e., for any two different vertices u, v ∈V, there exist at least k vertices w1,w2, . . . ,wk ∈ S such that dG(u,wi) 6= dG(v,wi) for every i ∈ {1, . . . , k}. A k-metric generator …

On Characterizations Of Relatively P– And P0– Properties In Nonsmooth Functions, Mohamed A. Tawhid
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
For H-differentiable function f from a closed rectangle Q in Rn into Rn, a result of Song, Gowda and Ravindran [On Characterizations of P- and P0-Properties in Nonsmooth Functions. Mathematics of Operations Research. 25: 400-408 (2000)] asserts that f is a P(P0)− function on Q if the HQ-differential TQ(x) at each x ∈ Q consisting of P(P0)− matrices. In this paper, we introduce the concepts of relatively P(P0)− properties in order to extend these results to nonsmooth functions when the underlying functions are H-differentiable.We give characterizations of relatively P(P0)− of vector nonsmooth functions. Also, our results give characterizations of relatively …

Approximate Analytic Solutions For The Influence Of Mass Flux On Mixed Convection In A Saturated Porous Medium, Randolph C. Rach, Lazhar Bougoffa, Ammar Khanfer
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
In this paper, we have considered the nonlinear coupled boundary-layer equations that describe the problem of injection or extraction of fluid along the surface of an inclined wall embedded in a saturated porous medium. We obtain very accurate approximate analytic solutions in closed-form by a direct method for the special cases l = 0 and l = 1. Furthermore, an accurate analytic series solution is obtained by the modified Adomian decomposition method for the two limiting cases of free and forced convection by setting Rak Pex = 0 and Rak Pex 6= 0, respectively.
Optimal Design Of Fss- Palt For The Generalized Inverted Rayleigh Distribution Using Type Ii Censoring, R. A. Bakoban
Optimal Design Of Fss- Palt For The Generalized Inverted Rayleigh Distribution Using Type Ii Censoring, R. A. Bakoban
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
In this paper, failure step stress-partially accelerated life tests (FSS-PALT) are considered when the lifetime of a product follows a generalized inverted Rayleigh distribution (GIRD). Based on Type II censoring, the maximum likelihood estimates (MLEs) of model parameters are obtained. Also, the asymptotic variances and covariances matrix of the estimators is studied. The optimum proportion of test units failing at normal and accelerate condition according to a certain optimality criterion in optimum test plans are discussed. The performance of the estimators are compared through Monte Carlo simulation study. Finally, numerical examples and concluding remarks are provided.
A Robust Finite Difference Method For Two-Parameter Parabolic Convection-Diffusion Problems, Justin B. Munyakazi
A Robust Finite Difference Method For Two-Parameter Parabolic Convection-Diffusion Problems, Justin B. Munyakazi
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
We consider a class of singularly perturbed parabolic differential equations with two small parameters affecting the derivatives. The solution to such problems typically has parabolic layers. We discretize the time variable by means of the classical backward Euler method. At each time level a two-point boundary value problem is obtained. These problems are, in turn, discretized in space on a uniform mesh following the nonstandard methodology of Mickens. We prove that the underlying discrete operator satisfies a minimum principle. We use this result in the error analysis. We show that the method is uniformly convergent with respect to the perturbation …

A Study On Minimality Of The Codewords In The Dual Code Of The Code Of A Symmetric (V, K,Λ ) -Design, Selda Calkavur
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
The Fq - code of a symmetric (v, k,l )- design is a subspace generated by the incidence matrix of the symmetric design. In this paper, we examine the minimality of the codewords in the dual code C⊥ of the binary code C of a symmetric (v, k,l )− design. So, we use the relationship between the minimum and maximum nonzero weights in the dual code C⊥ with the number of Fq.

On The Low Algebraic Order Explicit Methods With Vanished Phase-Lag And Its First And Second Derivative, T. E. Simos
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
In this paper we will study a low algebraic order four-step method requiring this specific method to have vanished the phase-lag and its first and second derivatives. For this specific method we will give the constant value of the parameters in the right hand side part of the method. We will investigate the influence of the elimination of the phase-lag and its first and second derivatives on the efficiency of this method. More specifically we will study the local truncation error of the new method and we will compare it with other methods in the literature (comparative local truncation error …
A Decomposition Method For Solving Q-Difference Equations, Hossein Jafari, Sarah Jane Johnston, Sajad Mahmood Sani, Dumitru Baleanu
A Decomposition Method For Solving Q-Difference Equations, Hossein Jafari, Sarah Jane Johnston, Sajad Mahmood Sani, Dumitru Baleanu
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
The q-difference equations are important in q-calculus. In this paper, we apply the iterative method which is suggested by Daftardar and Jafari, hereafter called the Daftardar-Jafari method, for solving a type of q-partial differential equations. We discuss the convergency of this method. In the implementation of this technique according to other iterative methods such as Adomian decomposition and homotopy perturbation methods, one does not need the calculation of the Adomian’s polynomials for nonlinear terms. It is proven that under a special constraint, the given result by this method converges to exact solution of nonlinear q-ordinary or q-partial differential equations.

Singular Values Of One Parameter Family Of Generalized Generating Function Of Bernoulli’S Numbers, Mohammad Sajid
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
The goal of this paper is to describe the singular values of one parameter family of generalized generating function of Bernoulli’s numbers, fl (z) =l z bz−1 , fl (0) = l lnb for l ∈ R\{0}, z ∈ C and b > 0 except b = 1. It is found that the function fl (z) has an infinite number of singular values for all b > 0 except b = 1. Further, it is shown that all the critical values of fl (z) belongs to the exterior of the disk centered at origin and having radius | l lnb | in …

On Parameter Estimation By Nonlinear Least Squares In Some Special Two-Parameter Exponential Type Models, Darija Markovi´C, Luka Borozan
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
Two-parameter growth models of exponential type f (t;a,b) = g(t)exp(a+bh(t)), where a and b are unknown parameters and g and h are some known functions, are frequently employed in many different areas such as biology, finance, statistic, medicine, ect. The unknown parameters must be estimated from the data (wi, ti, yi), i = 1, . . . ,n, where ti denote the values of the independent variable, yi are respective estimates of regression function f and wi > 0 are some data weights. A very popular and widely used method for parameter estimation is the method of least squares. In practice, …

A Novel Cluster Center Initialization Method For The K-Prototypes Algorithms Using Centrality And Distance, Jinchao Ji, Wei Pang, Yanlin Zheng, Zhe Wang, Zhiqiang Ma, Libiao Zhang
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
The k-prototypes algorithms are well known for their efficiency to cluster mixed numeric and categorical data. In kprototypes type algorithms the initial cluster centers are often determined in a random manner. It is acknowledged that the initial placement of cluster centers has a direct impact on the performance of the k-prototypes algorithms. However, most of the existing initialization approaches are designed for the k-means or k-modes algorithms, which can only deal with either pure numeric or categorical data, but not the mixture of both. In this paper, we propose a novel cluster center initialization method for the k-prototypes algorithms to …

A Hybrid Model For Monthly Time Series Forecasting, Siraj M. Pandhiani, Ani Bin Shabri
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
This study aims to propose a hydrological model for estimating the future value for monthly river flow. The proposed model was constructed by combining three components: i.e. Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT), Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and Least Square Support Vector Machine (LSSVM). The first two components, i.e. the wavelets and the PCA, are meant for preparing input data. Wavelets were employed to obtain a certain level of data decomposition, and in this case, a three level decomposition was employed. The output from the wavelets was given to PCA. This component simply picks up the important components from the given data, …

Hardy’S Type Integral Inequalities On Time Scales, S. H. Saker, Donal O’Regan
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
In this paper, we prove some new integral inequalities of Hardy’s type on time scales. The Hardy inequalities have many applications especially in proving the boundedness Ces`aro operators. The main results will be proved by making use of some algebraic inequalities, the H¨older inequality and a simple consequence of Keller’s chain rule on time scales. The discrete inequalities that we will derive from our results in the discrete time scales are essentially new.

Plane Waves On Rotating Microstretch Elastic Solid With Temperature Dependent Elastic Properties, Mohammad I. A. Othman, Adnan Jahangir
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
Plane waves propagating in generalized thermoelastic half space rotating with specific angular frequency has been investigated. The appropriate model of the problem in context of Green and Naghdi theory is generated, while modulus of elasticity is taken as a linear function of reference temperature. An exact approach of normal mode analysis method is implemented to obtain the expression for the displacement components, stresses and temperature distribution functions. The variations of the considered variables against the vertical distance are illustrated graphically and a comparison is made for results predicted by both the theories in presence and absence of rotation effect we …

Determination Of Optimal Lot Size And Sampling Plan For Single-Producer Single-Retailer Supply Chain System, Abdulrahman Alenezi, Mohammad J. Alkhedher, Mehmet Savsar
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
A supply chain of one producer and one retailer is considered in this paper. The production process produces items in lots with random fraction defective to satisfy the retailer with a deterministic demand. When a lot is completed, a random sample is drawn to sentence the produced lot. If the number of defective items in the sample is less than or equal to the specified acceptance number, the lot is accepted and sold at a regular price. On the other hand, if the lot is rejected, it is sold at a reduced price. The retailer is protected by a limit …

Analysis Of Substrate Coupling In Design Of Mixed Signal Vlsi Circuit For 0.18 Μm Technology Using Resistive Macromodel Method, Pawan Kumar Singh, Sanjay Sharma
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
In this paper the effects of substrate coupling on analog circuits in a mixed-signal chip are described and analyzed based on simulated results. Substrate coupling is a major challenge for mixed-signal design. To analyse the substrate coupling with digital circuits and analog circuit simulation accurate substrate model is important in the modern mixed-signal IC design. At the higher operating frequency the capacitive effect in substrate becomes important and the substrate impedances become frequency dependent in lightly doped substrate. To balance this, heavily doped substrate is used for the analysis and assumed as resistive network. The noise coupling is demonstrated by …
Control Of Quantum And Classical Correlations In Werner-Like States Of Two-Qubit Cavity System Under Dissipative Environments, A.-B. A. Mohamed
Control Of Quantum And Classical Correlations In Werner-Like States Of Two-Qubit Cavity System Under Dissipative Environments, A.-B. A. Mohamed
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
Quantum and classical correlations are studied forWerner-Like States of two-qubit cavity system interacting with a thermal reservoir. Starting from Werner-like states, we have shown that entanglement sudden death and decay of both the quantum discord and classical correlation are accelerated by the different factors: thermal photons, cavity decay and the purity of the initial state. By these factors, the death-start points of the correlations can be controlled and the two-qubit states have no correlations that can be determined. There is no sudden death for quantum discord and classical correlation.

A New Index For Fuzzy Distance Measure, Mostafa Ali Beigi, Tayebeh Hajjari, Erfan Ghasem Khani
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
The hesitant fuzzy linguistic term sets (HELTSs), which can be used to represent an expert’s hesitant preferences when assessing a linguistic variable, increase the flexibility of eliciting and representing linguistic information. The HELTSs have attracted a lot of attention recently due to their distinguished power and efficiency in representing uncertainty and vagueness within the process of decision making. To enhance and extend the applicability of HELTSs, in this paper we first review on some fuzzy distance methods, then we present a new fuzzy distance measure based on end points and core, which is far simple, and easier than previous methods. …

Some Properties Of Higher Dimensional Homotopy Groups For Digital Images, Tane Vergili, Ismet Karaca
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
By combining the algebraic topological concepts such as Euler characteristics, (co)homology groups, fundamental and homotopy groups with digital topology we can compare, classify or identify the digital images between each other. In this paper, we explore the digital relative homotopy relation between two continuous functions on a pointed digital image whose domains are n-cube and which map the boundary of an n-cube to a fix point. Then we introduce the nth homotopy group of a pointed digital image and give a relation between the homotopy groups of two pointed digital images.

On Some Applications Of Multi-Dimensional Laplace Transform, Wasan Ajeel Ahmood, Adem Kılıçman
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
In this paper, the aim is to study the possible extension of the one-dimensional fractional differential equations to the multidimensional fractional differential equations with their applications. For this purpose, the multi-dimensional Laplace Transform method (L.T.M) is developed in order to solve multi-dimensional fractional differential equations with constant and variable coefficients. It is also observed that the proposed technique is possible and highly suitable for such problems. The results of the proposed scheme are encouraging and efficient.
