Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
In this paper we carry out a research project whose main goal is the study of an undirected graph by means of investigation tools provided by Pawlak rough set theory. Specifically, we determine both the lower and the upper rough approximation functions for an information table induced from a cycle or a path on n vertices. For such graphs we also provide a complete description of the corresponding exact subsets.

Reconstructions That Combine Cell Average Interpolation With Least Squares Fitting, Francesc Ar?Ndiga, José Jaime Noguera
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
In this paper we present two reconstructions in the cell average framework of multiresolution a la Harten. The first one combines interpolation and least squares fitting and the second one is based on least squares fitting. We study some of their properties as well as its approximation order. We also analyze how different adaptive techniques (ENO and SR) can be used within these reconstructions. We apply them to noise removal and compare the results that we obtain with other existing techniques.

Optimal Control Of An Sir Epidemic Model With A Saturated Treatment, Abid Ali Lashari
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
In this paper, we formulate an optimal control problem for an SIR epidemic model with saturated incidence and saturated treatment. Two main efforts, namely treatment and vaccination are considered to limit the disease transmission. The impacts of vaccination and treatment on the disease transmission are discussed through the basic reproduction number. Then to achieve control of the disease, a control problem is formulated and the existence of the control is shown. Two control functions are used, one for vaccinating the susceptible and the other for treatment efforts for infectious individuals. Appropriate optimal control methods are used to characterize the optimal …

Stability Analysis Of Traveling Wave Solutions For Generalized Coupled Nonlinear Kdv Equations, Aly Seadawy
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
In the present paper, an extended algebraic method is used for constructing exact traveling wave solutions for generalized coupled nonlinear KdV equations. By implementing the extended direct algebraic method, new exact solutions of the generalized coupled KdV equations are obtained. The present results are describing the generation and evolution of such waves, their interactions, and their stability. Moreover, the method can be applied to a wide class of coupled nonlinear evolution equations. The present traveling wave solutions have applications in physics.

Solution Of Inverse Kinematics Problem Using Genetic Algorithms, Shaher Momani, Zaer S. Abo-Hammour, Othman Mk. Alsmadi
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
In this paper, the solution of inverse kinematics problem of robot manipulators using genetic algorithms (GA) is presented. Two versions of genetic algorithms are used which include the conventional GA and the continuous GA. The inverse kinematics problem is formulated as an optimization problem based on the concept of minimizing the accumulative path deviation in the absence of any obstacles in the workspace. Simulation results show that the continuous GA outperforms the conventional GA from all aspects. The superiority of the continuous GA is seen in that it will always provide smooth and faster solutions as compared with the conventional …

Akaike Information Criterion And Fourth-Order Kernel Method For Line Transect Sampling (Lts), Ali Algarni, Ahmad Almutlg
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
Parametric and noparametric approaches were used to fit line transect data. Different parametric detection functions are suggested to compute the smoothing parameter of the nonparametric fourth-order kernel estimator. Among the different candidate parametric detection functions, the researcher suggests to use Akaike Information Criterion (AIC) to select the most appropriate one of them to fit line transect data. More specifically, four different parametric models are considered in this research. Where as two models were taken to satisfy the shoulder condition assumption, the other two do not. Once the appropriate model is determined, it can be used to select the smoothing parameter …

Adaptive Successive Detection For Ofdm Over Doubly Selective Channels, Feng Li
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
This paper studies the problem of detection for orthogonal frequency domain multiplexing (OFDM) systems over rapidly time varying multipath channels. A new adaptive successive detection method, which uses the information provided by all of the received symbol, and the band structure of the frequency domain channel matrix, is proposed. The new scheme can get the similar performance as the maximum likelihood sequence estimation (MLSE) withmuch lower complexity. It can alsomake a trade-off between the performance and complexity adaptively. Simulation results demonstrate the merits of the proposed algorithms over traditional ones.

The release of rogons (rogue waves) associated with the electrostatic perturbations in dusty plasmas containing twotemperature ions is investigated. Solving the fluid equations using perturbation method, a nonlinear Schr¨odinger equation (NLSE) is derived for the electrostatic potential amplitude, associated with the propagation of envelope wavepackets. The solution of the NLSE is presented, which proposed as an effective tool for studying the rogons in different Saturn’s rings (i.e. E-ring, F-ring, and B-ring). Our analysis indicates that the plasma parameters of the E-ring cannot support the propagation of rogue waves, but the rogue waves may exist in B- and F-rings. The existence …

Bessel type functions (BTFs), which are one of the types of exponential type functions (ETFs), are used usually as basis functions in the multi-center atomic and molecular integrals to better understand physical and chemical properties of matter. As a general rule, the most promising approach for the calculation of multi-center integrals appears to be the called the Fourier transform method (FTM) where multi-center integrals are transformed into inverse Fourier integrals. In this approach, basis functions have not simplicity to make mathematical operations, but their Fourier transforms are easier to use. In this work, with the help of FTM and some …
