At the request of Dr. Frederick Margolis, M.D., and in association with The Upjohn Company, this research problem was initiated as a participation in the investigation of whether or not fluoride ingested as a constituent of the Upjohn 47-M liquid vitamin preparation is retained in an infant's body to the same extent as is fluoride ingested as the sodium salt by itself--either in solution or in tablet form. The retention patterns may be studied indirectly by measuring the amounts of fluoride excreted in the urine and in the feces during each of a series of equal time intervals after …

Compounds of the amidine class have long been of interest because of their therapeutic and pharmacological properties. Reading Horizons: A Journal of Literacy and Language Arts

During recent years there has been considerable concern among the public with regard to the reading ability of school children. A great deal of unreasonable and some justified criticism has been leveled against the public schools for their purported inability to teach children to read well. Simple causes and simple solutions have been offered. Actually the problem is an exceedingly complex one, and the more we learn about factors related to reading retardation, the more we are becoming conscious of how little we know.

Introduction

The configuration of biphenyl has been the subject of much investigation and many recent reviews (1, 5, 6, 7, 8, 17, 21, 22). Of particular interest has been the configuration of 2,2' -bridged biphenyl derivatives. The preparation of an optically active 2,2' -three-carbon-atom-bridged biphenyl having an ultraviolet absorption maximum at 250 mμ, has been recently described (14). Although the compound was easily racemized, this property requires that a non-planar configuration be assigned to this biphenyl (I). Furthermore, this ultraviolet spectra indicates that inter-ring conjugation must exist in the non-planar configuration.

The purpose of this paper is to trace the history of Fort St. Joseph. In the process, I shall try to show Fort St. Joseph's historical setting in international and regional economics and politics. Regional and international events are included when necessary for this understanding.

An Investigation Of The Identification Of One’S Own Voice By Speech Defective And Normal Speaking Children, Robert L. Frankenberger

Introduction

The purpose of this study is to test the vocal self-identification ability of children with functional defects of articulation as compared to children with normal speech. An attempt has been made to determine whether the functional articulatory defective child is able to distinguish his recorded voice from voices of other children who possess no articulatory defects.

In discussing the basis for teaching high school biology, Van Deventer¹ states, "...the present typical course in high school biology serves adequately neither the terminal student nor the college entrance student."
