The original purpose of this study was to teach college students to write psychology laboratory reports. A programmed text on how to draw a graph that would meet the publication requirements as specified by the American Psychological Association was written and tested on a small sample of psychology stidents. Results showed that the rules were not adequate discriminative stimuli for controlling behavior. It was necessary to give the students discrimination training with examples related to those rules. There was a high percent of errors on rules that pertained to the concepts of the independent and dependent variables, and the task …

The Comparison Of A Primary And Secondary Amine As Collectors In Froth Flotation Techniques For Primary Clarification Of Paper Mill Effluent, Gerard M. Marshall

Paper Engineering Senior Theses

The following investigation deals with primary clarification by use of froth flotation techniques. A primary amine was compared to a secondary amine in their collection properties at three pH values. pH variation was found to have an effect on the water content in the foam and the amount of solids collected. A higher pH showed less water content in the foam resulting in higher solids content.

The study indicated that sedimentation had better percent solids coupled with it being a less expansive operation enables it to continue while more efficient methods in flotation are sought out.

The 46th Street Site And The Occurrence Of Allegan Ware In Southwestern Michigan, Margaret B. Rogers

Masters Theses

The 46th Street site is located on a steep bank twenty feet above the Kalamazoo River in the Allegan State Forest in Allegan County, Michigan. Radiocarbon dates indicate that the site was occupied about A. D. 1200. The settlement pattern and ecological data for the 46th Street site points to the conclusion that this was a winter hunting camp of the Chippewa type. A comparison of the pottery from the 46th Street site with the pottery from the Fenneville site which is located in Manilus Twonship, Allegan County and dates from about A. D. 700, yields some interferences about variation …

Many disabled readers do not respond to instruction by the classroom teacher. Approximately three per cent of the school population requires detailed diagnosis and treatment, generally implemented by the reading clinician and his team. These emergency cases necessitate allopathic treatment which is carried out by the reading therapist. In this paper the writer contrasts homeopathic and allopathic remediation and illustrates the latter in its application to a disabled reader. A rigorous system of diagnosis and treatment is recommended.

One of the more fascinating aspects of pre-school children's verbal language seems to be their uncanny ability to speak in complete sentences. From the time children put two words together meaning fully, they speak in sentences. By the time they arrive in first grade they use simple, compound, and complex sentences. Children can also supply nouns for subjects, verbs for predicates, nouns for objects, and the like.
