A Theorem On Homeomorphic Convergence And Some Applications, Frank J.S. Wang May 1968

A Theorem On Homeomorphic Convergence And Some Applications, Frank J.S. Wang

All Graduate Plan B and other Reports, Spring 1920 to Spring 2023

Borsuk [ 3 ] has given interesting conditions under which a certain function space is separable (see Theorem 3. 1 ). We give a proof for Borsuk's Theorem here and we show how it can be used to establish a useful theorem on homeomorphic convergence. We illustrate the utility of the theorem on homeomorphic convergence by stating and proving several of its consequences.

For example we show that the plane (E2) does not contain uncountably many pairwise disjoint contina each of which contains a simple triod (Corollary 4. 1 ). We prove that in an uncountable collection G …

Multiplicative Number - Theoretic Functions, Barney Lee Erickson May 1968

Multiplicative Number - Theoretic Functions, Barney Lee Erickson

All Graduate Plan B and other Reports, Spring 1920 to Spring 2023

Quite frequently in the study of number theory we become acquainted with special functions which are defined on the set of positive integers. These functions are known as Number-theoretic functions or Arithmetical functions. This report will give some of the general ideas of the multiplicative number-theoretic functions.

The first part of this report will be devoted to the general development of such functions by means of definitions and theorems. The second part will consist of generalizations of a particular function, the -r-function.

Throughout this paper, lower case Greek letters will represent real numbers and lower case English letters will represent …

Computer Analysis Of Consumer Attitude And Consumption Data For Fluid Milk Products, James Reed Fisher May 1968

Computer Analysis Of Consumer Attitude And Consumption Data For Fluid Milk Products, James Reed Fisher

All Graduate Plan B and other Reports, Spring 1920 to Spring 2023

The American public, with a per capita disposable income currently at an all time high, has become a source of vital concern to dairy market researchers. The unique socio-economic structure of the present generation causes the dairy industry to be concerned with how the consumer view its products. Effective education and advertising programs must be developed to attract the taste and meet the demands of the consumer.

Two factors which greatly influence market research and advertising programs are the attitude of the consumer toward a given product and the relationship of attitude to the degree of actual milk consumption. To …

The morphological development of Elberta peach fruit buds was studied in relation to their cold hardiness.

Morphological development of peach fruit buds was observed beginning with bud differentiation in mid-summer. Flower initiation was essentially complete by September. Growth was slow in the winter months but increased rapidly as anthesis approached. Photomicrographs were taken to substantiate the discussion .

Cold hardiness determinations were made from December until anthesis in April. The hardiness level was greatest during December and remained at a relatively high level until rest ended. Hardiness decreased thereafter. Major losses of hardiness occurred just prior to anthesis.

The Corporate Image Of Utah State University, Jon I. Anderson May 1968

The Corporate Image Of Utah State University, Jon I. Anderson

All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023

During the past four years it has been easy to see that there has been no art direction in the visual communications of Utah State University. Recently the university has become aware of the importance of a good public relations program and has taken steps in that direction. Very little thought has been given to the visual design of these public relations though. Advertising gives information, plants ideas, and provokes interest in a service and company, but it must be designed well to be noticed. Corporate image includes many things, but I shall only deal with the visual or graphic …

The Father Role As Seen By A Group Of College Student Fathers, Devona Alice Dean Luke May 1968

The Father Role As Seen By A Group Of College Student Fathers, Devona Alice Dean Luke

All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023

Some literature implies the modern father has abdicated his place as head of the family, but little research has been done to examine the role of the father in the modern American family.

Intensive interviews of 18 college student men who each had at least two children showed that these men are very much concerned with fatherhood and participate actively in the rearing of their children. They feel the father has at least as much responsibility for the rearing of their children as the mother, possibly more. They are involved more in some dimensions of parenthood than others. Those fathers …
