Die Fig. 18 ist, wie sich bei einem nochmaligen Vergleich mit dem Original herausstellt, durch die bei dem Stück allein vorgenommene Retouche der roten Flügelteile diesem so unähnlich geworden, daß es am besten ist, sie als nicht vor-handen zu betrachten. Als Type für die ab. interrupta hat dann die Figur Romanoff's in Rom. Mem. Lep. 1. (1884) pi. IV, f. 4 zu gelten.

While collecting Ichneumonoidea in New Brunswick, Mr. A. Gordon Leavitt also collected a number of other Hyrnenoptera, and below is given a report on most of the Apoidea. Some of the material, mostly Megachilinae, Sphecodes and male Halictus, has not been identified, and is not included. A few of the determinations were made by Mr. H . L. Viereck, and credit is given in the proper places.

Die Physikalisch-okonomische Gesellschaft in Konigsberg ersuchte mich auf Anregung von Herrn Kreisassistenzarzt Dr. P. SPEISER in Sierakowitz, welcher alle die entomologische Erforschung der beinen ostlichen preuBischen Provinzen betreffenden Bestrebungen in anerkennenswerter Weise zu forden sucht, durch ihren Vorsitzenden, Herrn Geheimrat Professor Dr. M. BRAUN, eine vierzehntagige Sammelreise zum Studium der Bienenfauna in die Provinz OstprueBen zu unternehman. Infolge dieser Aufforderung war ich in der Zeit vom 31. Jul ibis 13 August 1909 an verschiedenen Orten des genannten Gebietes mit dem Beobachten und Einsammaln der Apiden beschaftigt. During the writer's investigations of extensive insect depredations in the forests of West Virginia, from 1890 to 1902, he was forcibly impressed with the importance of the forest-insect problem in connection with any future efforts toward the successful management of the forests of this country, and was thus led to give special attention to the subject.
