Formulation Of An Oral Controlled Release Dosage Form For Nifedipine, Varun Garg

Nifedipine has been shown to be an effective and a well tolerated medication for the treatment of several cardiovascular diseases. Its low water solubility, however, leads to poor drug absorption from oral dosage forms while commercially available soft capsules lead to a short half - life. In this study a method was developed to prepare control led release nifedipine tablets which would release the drug quickly and sustain the release for a longer period of time. Tributyltin is effective at controlling fouling organisms on vessels' hulls when used as an additive in marine paints. Its effectiveness is due to its extreme toxicity to fouling organisms after it is released from the paint. Unfortunately, it is also toxic to some nontarget organisms at concentrations approaching one part per trillion. After leaching from the hull of a vessel, the rates of degradation and transport from the water column have important implications for estuarine ecosystems, but the processes involved in these removal mechanisms are poorly understood. The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the underlying meanings conveyed by media images to preschool age children in three samples of award-winning picture books. One general hypothesis was that female characters would be underrepresented in illustrations found in children's picture books relative to male characters. A second hypothesis was that female characters would more often be portrayed in subordinate and degrading images than male characters. Ezra Pound's correspondence with Congressman George H. Tinkham of Massachusetts, who served from 1915 to 1943, is a substantial body of Pound letters that can be classified as "political correspondence." Extending from February 1933 through the 1940 national elections, these 100 letters provide an extended discussion of many of Pound's economic and political ideas, especially as they relate to his twin efforts to unseat President Roosevelt and head off the impending war.

As the introductory essay shows by placing the correspondence in its historical, biographical, and rhetorical contexts, the Pound/Tinkham letters shed a sustained light on the poet as he …

The complexation of drugs with alpha, beta, gamma and hydroxyethyl beta cyclodextrins was investigated using the solubility method described by Higuchi and Connors. Beta cyclodextrin was shown to exhibit the most extensive complexation. The solubility isotherms of complexation were studied at different temperatures and at various pH conditions. The effect of ionization of drugs on complexation was thus evaluated for four drugs viz phenytoin, diazepam, ibuprofen and hydrochlothiazide. In the case of phenytoin and diazepam, both the non-ionized and the ionized species were shown to form a complex with cyclodextrins. This study provides an examination of the existing United States Federal laws and international regimes regarding oil spill liability and compensation, and the manner in which they have been implemented by regulation and policy. The presentation concludes with discussion of and arguments concerning various proposed Federal comprehensive liability and compensation legislation. Emphasis is placed on the unsuccessful legislative proposals of the 99th Congress and the effects that similar legislation, if passed by the 100th congress, may have on current response policies and Federal and state governments. Tuna fishery is widely practiced in the east central Atlantic region by many fleets of different nationality. Most of the catch is taken by distant-water fleets. The new Law of the Sea convention, which gives coastal states an exclusive economic zone with outer limit of 200 miles, now allows the coastal states to make the most use of the living resources in their waters. The surplus shall be allocated to other states in the region and those traditionally fishing in the area before. The purpose of this thesis was to explore the limited entry alternative of fishery management by examining the history of a particular limited entry scheme: the Massachusetts inshore commercial lobster fishery license limitation law. A review was made of existing limited entry theory, followed by a description of limited entry programs extant in U.S. fisheries. The legislative and political histories of the Massachusetts lobster fishery limited entry program was then examined. Having successfully initiated and developed the legal aspects of the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) the challenge which now arises for the developing coastal nations is to implement an ocean management system to more fully realize the potential benefits of extended jurisdiction.
