An Overview Of Mrna Vaccine Technology, Rachel N. Bruening
Physician Assistant Scholarly Project Papers
This project will serve to analyze the mechanism, efficacy, and adverse effects of mRNA technology in detail while also comparing it with a previous recombinant Influenza vaccine trial. In this systematic literature review, three library data bases were searched including Pub Med, Clinical Key, and Ebsco Megafile. Search criteria included the key terms: mRNA vaccines, vaccines, and COVID-19. Additional phrases used included: mechanism, history, and efficacy. Each key word was entered as it appears in the databases with additional phrases used to narrow down the research. The search was limited to the last five years to ensure up to date …
Biomarkers In The Detection Of Alzheimer’S Disease, Karen Kenny
Biomarkers In The Detection Of Alzheimer’S Disease, Karen Kenny
Physician Assistant Scholarly Project Papers
Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) is a progressive form of dementia that affects memory, cognition, and functional ability. Although there are diagnostic tests being used to aid in the clinical diagnosis of AD, the only definitive method of diagnosis is through post-mortem biopsy of the brain. The purpose of this project and literature review is to investigate the most effective biomarkers when clinically evaluating AD. The main biomarkers of investigation include positron emission tomography (PET) imaging, cerebral spinal fluid (CSF), and blood-based biomarkers. The role of the apolipoprotein E (APOE4) gene as a genetic influence on AD was also evaluated within this …
Best Second Oral Agent To Metformin To Manage Type 2 Diabetes, Dhana Acharya
Best Second Oral Agent To Metformin To Manage Type 2 Diabetes, Dhana Acharya
Physician Assistant Scholarly Project Papers
Diabetes is a major health concern in the United States with many long-term complications, such as heart disease, stroke, kidney failure, blindness, and amputation. According to the Center for Disease Control, as of 2020, 34.1 million of US adult had diabetes and 88 million were prediabetic. Due to the severe complications, it is important to manage diabetes with lifestyle changes and pharmacotherapies. Many oral agents such as metformin, sodium glucose transporter 2 inhibitors (SGLT2i), and sulfonylureas are used in the management of type II diabetes. Metformin is typically the first line pharmacotherapy. However, when metformin alone is not enough to …

Site Characterization For Co2 Storage, Abd-Rasheed Abiodun Ajiboye
Site Characterization For Co2 Storage, Abd-Rasheed Abiodun Ajiboye
Theses and Dissertations
Global warming is one of the most widely debated issues on the planet. Growing concentrations of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere are responsible for global warming but not just as a result of human activity. Nonetheless, human activity has a significant impact on the rising CO2 levels in the atmosphere. International bodies are worried; as a result, the world's CO2 reduction options are being investigated. CO2 storage in suitable geological strata under the earth is believed to be one of the most viable options. The purpose of this research is to set the framework for evaluating the characteristics of an …
Mathematical Modeling Of Pre And Post Combustion Processes In Coal Power Plant, Ashish Pramod Kotwal
Mathematical Modeling Of Pre And Post Combustion Processes In Coal Power Plant, Ashish Pramod Kotwal
Theses and Dissertations
Coal is a brownish-black sedimentary rock with organic and inorganic constituents. It has been a vital energy resource for humans for millennia. Coal accounts for approximately one quarter of the world’s energy consumption, with 65% of this is energy utilized by residential consumers, and 35% by industrial consumers. Coal operated power stations provide 42% of U.S. electricity supply. The United States hold 96% of coal reserves in North America region, out of which 26% are known for commercial usage. The coal combusted in these power generating facilities requires certain pre-combustion processing, while by-products of coal combustion go through certain post-combustion …

This report demonstrates an assessment of a PCAM camera module’s OV5640 CMOS sensor image-acquisition electrical circuit network system and hardware implementation for associated FPGA-modulated image-processing techniques using Digilent’s Zybo Z7-20 development board’s FPGA (Zynq 7000 SoC). By comparison between the control system architectures of 2 proposed Active Pixel CMOS sensor electrical network configurations (both 1 Row 1-Column Select Implementations) using electrical network transfer function derivations, time responses, Root Locus Plots, Bode Plots, and their system characteristics as preliminary analyses, FPGA-modulation of the CMOS sensor through image format adjustment is developed as an example of image properties adjustment enabled by the …

The Internet of Things (IoT) sustainable solutions are the next generation of methods for managing and monitoring valuable natural resources such as water. Research has focused on smart IoT-based water management and monitoring system designs for various types of applications, including agricultural, industrial, residential, and crude oil exploration sectors. To this end, unlike other surveys available in the literature, this work presents an all-encompassing analysis of 43 papers published between 2014 and 2022 for systems proposed to manage and monitor water in four different sectors: agricultural, industrial, residential, and oilfield sectors. In this work, we also propose a new optical …

Synthesis And Evaluation Of A Novel Polyacrylamide Functionalized Nano-Silica As A Calcium Carbonate Inhibitor In Upstream Applications, Nadhem Ismail, Ali Alshami, Ibnelwaleed A. Hussein
Chemical Engineering Faculty Publications
Calcium carbonate scale forms in production and injection wells, precipitating upon pressure and temperature changes, incompatible water mixing, and dehydration. Production shutdown is one of the most dramatic consequences caused by calcium carbonate scale formation. We synthesized, characterized, and tested a polyacrylamide functionalized nano-silica (PAM-SiO2NPs) inhibitor that prevents calcium carbonate formation at high temperatures and high brine. Positive compatibility results were confirmed before the inhibition efficiency test, whereby the efficiency was calculated by quantifying the calcium ions left in solution using ICP-OES. The inhibitor was effective at temperatures of 40, 60, and 80 °C, with pH values of …

Behavioral Responses Of Blue-Winged Teal And Northern Shoveler To Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Surveys, Mason D. Ryckman, Kaylan Kemink, Christopher J. Felege, Brian J. Darby, Gregory S. Vandeberg, Susan N. Ellis-Felege
Biology Faculty Publications
Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) have become a popular wildlife survey tool. Most research has focused on detecting wildlife using UAVs with less known about behavioral responses. We compared the behavioral responses of breeding blue-winged teal (Spatula discors) (n = 151) and northern shovelers (Spatula clypeata) (n = 46) on wetlands flown over with a rotary DJI Matrice 200 quadcopter and control wetlands without flights. Using a GoPro camera affixed to a spotting scope, we conducted focal individual surveys and recorded duck behaviors for 30 minutes before, during, and 30 minutes after UAV flights to determine if …
Case Report: Pre- And Post-Surgical Physical Therapy Management Of A Lateral Meniscus Tear, Michael Duginski
Case Report: Pre- And Post-Surgical Physical Therapy Management Of A Lateral Meniscus Tear, Michael Duginski
Physical Therapy Scholarly Projects
Background and Purpose. Meniscus surgeries comprise roughly 10% to 20% of all orthopedic surgeries, or roughly 850,000 surgeries annually. This case was the evaluation of a male with a torn right lateral meniscus who started physical therapy prior to undergoing a surgical repair of his right lateral meniscus. It will be determined if physical therapy interventions can improve meniscus injury symptoms and post-surgical recovery
Case Description. The patient was a 21-year-old male with a right lateral meniscus tear. The patient presented with the classic presentation of the diagnosis: knee clicking, difficulty on deep knee bending, pain, locking in knee joint …
