A Printed Wearable Dual-Band Antenna For Wireless Power Transfer, Mohammad Haerinia, Sima Noghanian Apr 2019

A Printed Wearable Dual-Band Antenna For Wireless Power Transfer, Mohammad Haerinia, Sima Noghanian

Electrical Engineering Faculty Publications

In this work, a dual-band printed planar antenna, operating at two ultra-high frequency bands (2.5 GHz/4.5 GHz), is proposed for wireless power transfer for wearable applications. The receiving antenna is printed on a Kapton polyimide-based flexible substrate, and the transmitting antenna is on FR-4 substrate. The receiver antenna occupies 2.1 cm2 area. Antennas were simulated using ANSYS HFSS software and the simulation results are compared with the measurement results.

Biology Faculty Publications

Museum specimens play an increasingly important role in predicting the outcomes and revealing the consequences of anthropogenically driven disruption of the biosphere. As ecological communities respond to ongoing environmental change, host–parasite interactions are also altered. This shifting landscape of host–parasite associations creates opportunities for colonization of different hosts and emergence of new pathogens, with implications for wildlife conservation and management, public health, and other societal concerns. Integrated archives that document and preserve mammal specimens along with their communities of associated parasites and ancillary data provide a powerful resource for investigating, anticipating, and mitigating the epidemiological, ecological, and evolutionary impacts of …

Development And Validation Of The Parental Smartphone Use Management Scale (Psums): Parents’ Perceived Self-Efficacy With Adolescents With Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Yi-Ping Hsieh, Cheng-Fang Yen, Wen-Jiun Chou

Social Work Faculty Publications

The psychometric properties of the Parental Smartphone Use Management Scale (PSUMS) and its prospective relationships with symptoms of smartphone addiction and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) were studies in a sample of parents of adolescents with ADHD. This is a scale to measure parents’ perceived self-efficacy on managing their children’s smartphone use. Construct validity (exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis), criterion-related validity (known-group validity and concurrent validity), and reliability (Cronbach’s alpha) were performed for data analyses. The results showed that the PSUMS had good factorials validity and high reliabilities, with Cronbach’s alphas ranging between 0.93 and 0.95. The 17-item …

Zika Virus-Specific Igy Results Are Therapeutic Following A Lethal Zika Virus Challenge Without Inducing Antibody-Dependent Enhancement, Kyle L. O'Donnell, Bernadette Meberg, James Schiltz, Matthew L. Nilles, David S. Bradley Mar 2019

Zika Virus-Specific Igy Results Are Therapeutic Following A Lethal Zika Virus Challenge Without Inducing Antibody-Dependent Enhancement, Kyle L. O'Donnell, Bernadette Meberg, James Schiltz, Matthew L. Nilles, David S. Bradley

Biomedical Sciences Faculty Publications

The Zika virus (ZIKV) is a newly emerged pathogen in the Western hemisphere. It was declared a global health emergency by the World Health Organization in 2016. There have been 223,477 confirmed cases, including 3720 congenital syndrome cases since 2015. ZIKV infection symptoms range from asymptomatic to Gullain–Barré syndrome and extensive neuropathology in infected fetuses. Passive and active vaccines have been unsuccessful in the protection from or the treatment of flaviviral infections due to antibody-dependent enhancement (ADE). ADE causes an increased viral load due to an increased monocyte opsonization by non-neutralizing, low-avidity antibodies from a previous dengue virus (DENV) infection …
