The Quadruple Helix Of Strategic Alliances And Its Application For Community Development In Las Acequias De Atrisco, Jorge Garcia
The Quadruple Helix Of Strategic Alliances And Its Application For Community Development In Las Acequias De Atrisco, Jorge Garcia
Regeneración: A Xicanacimiento Studies Journal
In today’s society, the development of Information Communication Technologies (ICT) is imminent yet, large segments of the world remain marginalized. I contend that peer-to-peer and inter-institutional networks can be used to connect local with global systems to close this divide. Using today’s virtual and digital technologies the gap can be bridged using collaboration platforms using different knowledge systems that do not simply replicate the same information. The suggested model represents forming strategic alliances for information sharing and collaboration to empower and support local knowledge systems. The examples discussed show our efforts toward an inclusive approach with communities in full partnership, …
Myth And Monument In Old Town Albuquerque: Southwest Pietà And The War Of Presiding Histories, Eric Castillo
Myth And Monument In Old Town Albuquerque: Southwest Pietà And The War Of Presiding Histories, Eric Castillo
Regeneración: A Xicanacimiento Studies Journal
Luis Jiménez’s Southwest Pietà (1984) intended to combat cultural amnesia that obscured Native Americans’ and Mexicans’ contributions to the state. Jiménez’s Pietà sought to counter the iconography that shaped New Mexico’s colonialist heritage. But Old Town Albuquerque shrouds Native American and Mexican contributions to the region. Albuquerque’s public art has often been deployed as a wedge to write and rewrite narratives about land inhabitants, but the city’s public art tells a powerful story about race and place in New Mexico. This essay explores the socio-historical battle of land memorialization in Old Town Albuquerque and provides a geo-racial perspective about the …

The Queer Body and the Obstructed Gaze: Chicanx Performance Artists and the Power of Self-Objectification
This article examines the ways in which four queer Chicanx performance artists have manipulated and obstructed the spectator’s gaze as a method for activating their abjection, performing self-objectification or fetishization, or asserting agency. As seminal Chicanx and queer performance artists, Luis Alfaro and Nao Bustamante set the stage for identity exploration through the corporeal and figurative display of excess: they invite in the spectator’s gaze to look at the queer brown body and challenge them to resist a reductive framing of their othered voluptuousness. In …

Cuba’s Potential Contribution to the Success of Chicano Students in the U.S.:
Directions to Decolonize the Raza Community
This exploratory paper examines the success of Cuba’s education system and the potential application of their education strategies to increase achievement among Chicano students in the U.S. While Chicanos remain one of our nation’s most underachieving ethnic groups, Cuba’s success in eradicating inequality in educational outcomes stands out among Latin American countries. Both Chicanos and Cubans have experienced a form of colonialism that poses a formidable barrier to educational success. Using a mixed methods approach that includes a review of scholarly literature …

Where Is Chican@ Studies? Infrastructure & Institutionalization In The 21st Century, Reynaldo F. Macias
Where Is Chican@ Studies? Infrastructure & Institutionalization In The 21st Century, Reynaldo F. Macias
Regeneración: A Xicanacimiento Studies Journal
This article provides for only a marginal update to the institutional context and complexity of Chican@ Studies in the US, so that we might better understand the need for comprehensive institutional history and its impact on the field as a discipline and as an Alter-Native curriculum framework for schooling. The question answered in this essay is “what is the 21st century institutional presence of Chicana & Chicano Studies in the schools?” focusing primarily on higher education, historicizing, contextualizing, and politicizing it. It describes the number and locations of undergraduate and graduate degree programs, administrative units, and, in part, relationships to …

Organizing And The Revitalization Of American Catholicism, Richard L. Wood
Organizing And The Revitalization Of American Catholicism, Richard L. Wood
Sociology Faculty and Staff Publications
American Catholicism today struggles to sustain its longtime character as a truly “public religion”—that is, a religious tradition with a vital presence within the public sphere in the US. Reinvigorating Catholicism in the US will require both internal renewal and new approaches to public life, both of which will require continuity with the deep tradition and significant reorientation of ecclesial dynamics. This paper argues that specific, faith-based community-organizing practices can help renew the public voice of Catholicism. In adopting such practices and inflecting them through Catholic commitment to theologically coherent processes of leadership formation, American Catholicism can reinvigorate parish life …

Multi Attribute Neutrosophic Optimization Technique Foroptimal Crop Selection In Ariyalur District, Angammal S, Hannah Grace G, Nivetha Martin, Florentin Smarandache
Neutrosophic Sets and Systems
Ranking crops is a vital part of sustainable farming practices. A deliberate strategy that incorporates multi-criteria decision-making is essential for achieving sustainability in agriculture. The process of choosing crops involves a lot of unknowns and unpredictable elements. The neutrosophic set, characterized by the three independent degrees of truth (T), falsity (F), and indeterminacy (I), is more adept at handling incomplete data. The current study combines single-valued multi-criteria neutrosophic programming with the TOPSIS approach to examine the crop selection process in the Ariyalur district. This study incorporated expert advice and a thorough literature analysis to identify the fundamental criteria for developing …

The Study Of Neutrosophic Algebraic Structures And Itsapplication In Medical Science, Binu R, Paul Isaac
Neutrosophic Sets and Systems
Neutrosophic exact sequence and its construction is presented as algebraic structure in this article. A mathematical construction known as a neutrosophic exact sequence expands the implications of an exact sequence from classical algebra to the domain of neutrosophic sets. This work introduces a full description of neutrosophic exact sequence of R-modules as a structural preserving tools and discusses the fundamental features. Additionally we examine the role of beta level sets in neutrosophic sets and investigate the neutrosophic split exact sequence.

Application Of Neutrosophic Fourier Transform In Solving Heat Equation And Integral Equation, Prasen Boro, Bhimraj Basumatary
Neutrosophic Sets and Systems
Fourier transform is one of the oldest and well-known technique in the field of mathematics and engineering mathematical works. As the concept of uncertainty has been introduced in the mathematics, most of the works gravitate towards the use Neutrosophic set. So, it is also important to study the Fourier transform in the sense of Neutrosophic set. In this paper we have applied the Neutrosophic Fourier transform in solving heat equation, and integral equation. Where detailed examples are given to clarify each case

Neutrosophic Sets and Systems
This paper focuses on the concept of Sc-open sets as a generalization of classical c-open sets in topology. The reason behind introducing Sc-open sets is to overcome the limitations of traditional open sets in handling uncertainty and vagueness prevalent in decision-making processes. Moreover, the paper makes significant contributions to the discussion of the concepts of soft topological spaces (STS) by utilizing Sc-open sets that investigate the theoretical foundations and mathematical properties of Sc-open sets, exploring their relationships with other soft open sets and soft topological concepts. Overall, the paper aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of STS and their properties …

About: Participatory budgeting is a democratic process in which community members directly decide how to allocate a portion of a public budget, giving them a say in funding decisions that affect their lives. Participatory Budgeting is being implemented in ABQ’s 6th City Council District. This form of participatory democracy originated in Porto Alegre, Brazil in the late 1980s, and has spread throughout the world. However, PB can be a very different political project depending …

Mechanistic Study Of Dna Ligase Iv-Mediated Double-Strand Break Repair In Non-Homologous End Joining, Tasmin Naila, Alan E. Tomkinson
Biomedical Sciences ETDs
Non-homologous end joining (NHEJ) is a crucial double-strand break repair pathway in mammalian cells, resolving DNA damage from ionizing radiation and during V(D)J recombination. Although DNA Ligase IV is the only mammalian DNA ligase involved in NHEJ, it functions as a single-turnover enzyme in vitro. Recent cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) studies revealed two LigIV molecules at the NHEJ synapse, supporting the hypothesis that two ligase molecules are needed for DSB repair by NHEJ. This study aims to validate this hypothesis by providing evidence for coordinated ligation at optimal distance and polarity preference for catalytic activity by LigIV. We determined that coordination …

Celebrate Constitution And Citizenship Day Every Day, Not Just Sept. 17th, Maryam Ahranjani
Faculty Scholarship
Learning - and teaching - about the Constitution is not easy, but it is important. It was written so long ago by some powerful men that many of us cannot easily relate to. But they conceived of a living, breathing document whose intentions would guide future generations. Today we will begin to explore why it is important to strive to make the Constitution seem real and applicable to our lives. The Constitution provides guidelines for how government should work. And it provides for the basic individual rights and freedoms we enjoy in the United States.

A Novel And An Efficient Codas Technique To Solve Real-Life Magdm Problems In Fermatean Neutrosophic Environment, S. Bhuvaneshwari, C. Antony Crispin Sweety, Akanksha Singh, Said Broumi, Mohamed Talea, Prasanta Kumar Raut
Neutrosophic Sets and Systems
As a generalization of fuzzy sets and intuitionistic fuzzy sets, neutrosophic sets, and their combinations have been developed to represent uncertain, imprecise, incomplete, and inconsistent information existing in the real world. A neutrosophic set has the potential to be a general framework for uncertainty analysis in various spectra. On the other hand, the idea of Fermatean neutrosophic sets (FNSs) is the hybrid model of Fermatean fuzzy sets and neutrosophic sets, developed to enable the analytical management of ambiguous data from relatively typical real world decision-making scenarios. In this work, we develop an algorithm to compare the Fermatean neutrosophic set and …

Modified Non-Linear Triangular Neutrosophic Numbers: Theory And Applications In Integral Equation, A. Mohammed Shapique, E. Mathivadhana
Neutrosophic Sets and Systems
Existing methods for handling uncertainty and imprecision often fall short in addressing complex real-world problems. To overcome these limitations, this paper introduces a novel Generalized Non-Linear Triangular Neutrosophic Number (GNLTNN) that effectively captures uncertainty, indeterminacy, and falsity. By analysing GNLTNN through (α, β, γ)-cuts and defining arithmetic operations using the max-min principle, we provide a robust framework for handling neutrosophic information. The proposed neutrosophic Laplace transform method enables efficient solutions to integral equations involving non-linear neutrosophic numbers. The efficacy of our approach is demonstrated through graphical representations

Johnson v. M’Intosh is important for its extensive description of the racist Doctrine of Discovery. But its holding had no bearing on legal rights of American Indian nations. The opinion’s articulation of tribal rights to land ownership and retained sovereignty were correctly stated.

Johnson v. McIntosh was as fake as John Wayne’s teeth. That one was a property dispute, remember? Two wealthy, privileged, and powerful white people squared off over thousands of acres of land acquired from Indigenous nations who called the vast valley of Eagle River home. On one side, you had a former United States Supreme Court Justice; on the other, you had a wealthy political benefactor/beneficiary. No tribal nations or Indigenous peoples to be seen or heard from. And of course, the competing property claims at issue barely overlapped, if at all, thanks to stipulations of the parties at the …

Responding to the history involved in the establishment and perpetuation of the doctrines of discovery and implicit divesture, this article critiques how federal Indian law has been developed to support the diminishment of tribal sovereignty through the perpetuation of historical assimilation policies. In response, this article will show that the diminishment of tribal sovereignty through the perpetuation of historical assimilation policies can be overcome with the effective implementation of tribal law principles. To counter the narrative of diminished sovereignty, I offer an understanding of the trust responsibility from an Anishinaabe law perspective. In particular, the revitalization of tribal law through …

The International Law Of Colonialism: Johnson V. M’Intosh And The Doctrine Of Discovery Applied Worldwide, Robert J. Miller
Tribal Law Journal
The United States Supreme Court’s first Indian law case, Johnson v. M’Intosh, was decided in 1823. In that case, the Court summarized and then applied four hundred years of international law and colonization to the Indigenous nations and peoples within the United States. Johnson is still the law in the United States today and has also influenced the jurisprudence and histories of other settler colonial countries around the world. Johnson has been cited scores of times by courts in New Zealand, Australia, and Canada, as well as by the British Privy Council. The elements or factors that make up this …

Decolonizing Digital Accessibility Within Land/Water Realities Using Minimal Computing, Mary Rice
Researchers
The purpose of this essay is to conceptualize accessibility in digital education for school children through a minimal computing perspective. This perspective prioritizes the contextual, social, and relational as part of the ethic of minimal computing mantra to consider What. We. Need. To achieve our goals, we begin with a story from a classroom in rural New Mexico, then we problematize definitions of accessibility for computing in educational settings considering how an identification as having disabilities is situated within colonial monolingual/monocultural structures that position minds and bodies as deficient. We connect these structures to capitalistic educational technology movements like using …

Abstract
Coal is a major contributor to various environmental issues, making the transition to alternative energy sources essential for reducing environmental impacts and combating climate change. San Juan County in New Mexico has historically depended on coal-fired power plants for producing electricity. However, due to environmental and economic pressures, there is a move to reassess energy strategies. This study explores the transition from coal to natural gas (NG) in San Juan County, with a focus on assessing changes in water usage and emissions (CO2, NOx, and SO2) at the Four Corners (coal-fired) and Afton …

Narratives On Nepal’S Coalition Politics, Ashis Adhikary
Himalayan Research Papers Archive
On 2nd July 2024, the Communist Party of Nepal- United Marxist Leninist (UML) struck a power-sharing deal with its earlier nemesis, the Nepali Congress (NC), and formed a new coalition. Surprisingly, UML left its ruling ally, the Maoist Center (MC) barely four months after joining hands. Coalition politics in Nepal ages old but this newly formed coalition nonplussed the analyst and political sphere. There are scattered and obstinate market narratives regarding this coalition. A gap exists in thematically framing those narrations. Therefore, this paper thematically presents those scattered narrations under three levels: individual, state, and system. At the individual level, …
