Identification Of Natural Resources At Watershed Level: An Initial Step Of Mainstreaming Of The Federal Restructure In Nepal, Madan Koirala
Identification Of Natural Resources At Watershed Level: An Initial Step Of Mainstreaming Of The Federal Restructure In Nepal, Madan Koirala
Himalayan Research Papers Archive
Federal restructuring of the nation state has become almost common agenda after April 2006 revolution in Nepal. Political parties, ethnic communities, development planners have started to move towards federal direction in their understandings. Expectation revolution of people is ahead of other issues such as institutional framework and working processes. Identification of extractable natural resources meant for the livelihood of local people becomes the basic requirement to meet these expectations. Koshi, Gandaki and Karnali three broad watershed level ecosystem-mapping especially forest ecosystem and agroecosystem reveal a basic inventory for the livelihood support of the people. Modernizing agriculture, followed by Non Timber …

An Application Of A Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging Database, Christopher Abbott
An Application Of A Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging Database, Christopher Abbott
Clinical and Translational Science Center Scholarly Output
Background and Purpose: Databases have led to considerable advancements in the fields of biology and astrophysics. Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) studies are expensive and time consuming to complete. An fMRI database would maximize knowledge gained from any one individual study. Methods: I searched PubMED and the fmridc.org website. I then searched PubMED using single citation manager to find an example of a study that used this database to create a new scientific investigation. Results: The fMRI Data Center was established in the autumn of 1999 to provide a mechanism for sharing fMRI data. Several investigators have used this database …

Hierarchical Aggregation And Intelligent Monitoring And Control In Fault-Tolerant Wireless Sensor Networks, Prasanna Sridhar
Hierarchical Aggregation And Intelligent Monitoring And Control In Fault-Tolerant Wireless Sensor Networks, Prasanna Sridhar
Electrical and Computer Engineering ETDs
The primary idea behind deploying sensor networks is to utilize the distributed sensing capability provided by tiny, low powered and low cost devices. Multiple sensing devices can be used cooperatively and collaboratively to capture events or monitor space more effectively than a single sensing device. The realm of applications envisioned for sensor networks is diverse including military, aerospace, industrial, commercial, environmental and health monitoring. Typical examples include: traffic monitoring of vehicles, crossborder infiltration-detection and assessment, military reconnaissance and surveillance, target tracking, habitat monitoring and structure monitoring, to name a few. Most of the applications envisioned with sensor networks demand highly …

Evaluation Of Two Washington State Department Of Transportation Stormwater Facilities Along State Route 18 Highway, Sherry L. Weber
Evaluation Of Two Washington State Department Of Transportation Stormwater Facilities Along State Route 18 Highway, Sherry L. Weber
Water Resources Professional Project Reports
In 1987 the Clean Water Act (CWA) was amended to address non-point sources through the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) program, which was divided into Phase I and Phase II. Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is a NPDES Phase I permit applicant, which requires them to monitor their facilities for specific water quality parameters. Effective and affordable treatment of highway runoff is a significant concern, because various pollutants found in non-point source runoff can impact the overall health of a watershed. Furthermore, many factors influence the types and concentrations of pollutants found in stormwater and the various types …

Complex Networked Control Systems, Chaouki T. Abdallah, Herbert Tanner
Electrical & Computer Engineering Faculty Publications
This special section focuses on the study of network architectures and their formation as well as on the description of dynamical processes that take place over networks. A common thread throughout the five articles is the role of distributed processing and control, as well as the search for network-growth mechanisms that give rise to the desired structure and behavior.
