Geology And Structure Of A Portion Of The Rio Puerco Fault Belt, Western Bernalillo County, New Mexico, Jock Campbell
Geology And Structure Of A Portion Of The Rio Puerco Fault Belt, Western Bernalillo County, New Mexico, Jock Campbell
Earth and Planetary Sciences ETDs
The Rio Puerco fault belt is a transitional feature between the Colorado Plateau and the Rio Grande depression in west-central New Mexico.
The major purpose of this report has been to map in detail a portion of the Rio Puerco fault belt not previously investigated thoroughly. The main interest herein is the structure of the area. Particular attention has been given to the determination of the character of the Apache graben. Secondary emphasis is placed on stratigraphy, as more complete reports concerning the sedimentary section can be found elsewhere.

An Analysis Of The Signal Processing In A Radio Altimeter Utilizing Random Angle Modulation, Donald F. Post
An Analysis Of The Signal Processing In A Radio Altimeter Utilizing Random Angle Modulation, Donald F. Post
Electrical and Computer Engineering ETDs
Excerpt from the introduction:
This paper presents an analysis of the signal processing in a continuous wave, fixed-range, radio altimeter which utilizes random angle modulation, i.e., the modulating function is a sample function from a random process. The mathematical model of the altimeter is shown in block diagram form in Figure 1, and the physical situation in which the altimeter operates is illustrated in Figure 2. As shown in Figure 2, the altimeter is assumed to be on the vehicle "V" which has a relative velocity v with respect to the reflecting plane P. The velocity vector might have any …

Chemistry and Chemical Biology ETDs
There are many examples of nitro-substituted aromatic compounds, and of these the compounds in the benzene series have been most extensively studied. Nitro groups attached to an aromatic ring vary in reactivity toward nucleophilic displacement. For example, when two nitro groups are ortho or para to each other, one may be substituted with varying ease depending on the other substituents present. Nitro groups which are meta to one another are generally not subject to nucleophilic displacement. The mobility or ease of displacement of a nitro group by a nucleophile may be increased by introduction of other groups into the ring, …

Surface-Wave Phenomena At A Water-Air Interface., Benjamin W. Woodward
Physics & Astronomy ETDs
The existence of a surface wave accompanying total internal reflection of light in a dielectric material was derived classically to satisfy boundary conditions at the surface. Using this fact, in 1929 J. Picht proposed a mechanism for total reflection that led to the conclusion that a finite ray of light would undergo a small translation at the boundary, parallel to the boundary and in the plane of incidence. In 1943 Goos and Hänchen made quantitative measurements of this translation or shift. Subsequently many theories have been advanced analyzing this phenomenon in detail, but as of this writing no other experimental …

A Process Model For Educational Change, Its Development And Use As An Evaluative Instrument., Roger L. Harrell
Teacher Education, Educational Leadership & Policy ETDs
The Santa Fe Public Schools have recently experienced an educational change. The formal organizational 'structure of the secondary curriculum has been changed from a one-track to a four-track system of comprehensive education. This change received official board approval on March 16, 1965.
Undoubtedly, the local Board of Education was convinced that 0anta Fe needed a four-track organizational structure in its secondary schools. How was the change brought about? Who was involved? Was it planned change? If so, what principles or steps were followed in the change process? These are just a few of the questions which prompted this study.

A Study Of Learning In Adaptive Systems., In Ku Kang
Electrical and Computer Engineering ETDs
The purpose of this study is to investigate the structures of learning processes and their applications to adaptive systems. The learning processes in this study are based on Bayes learning model, which well describes the nature of learning and also is a natural choice from the viewpoint of statistical decision theory.
