We investigated changes in soil chemistry and foliar metabolism of Himalayan cedar [Cedrus deodara (Roxb. Ex Lamb.) G.Don] and Himalayan spruce [Picea smithiana (Wall.) Boiss] trees along a steep elevational gradient in the lower Himalayan Mountains at Kufri, Himachal Pradesh (HP), India. The foliar and soil samples were collected from four locations along a 300 m elevational gradient at ridge, high-, mid-, and low-elevation sites within the forested Shimla Water Catchment Wildlife Sanctuary that provides water for the city of Shimla, HP,. Observations at the time of sampling revealed that the high-elevation site was being heavily grazed. Soils collected at …

Nh Slowly Returning To Normal; Most Plan To Spend More Post-Pandemic 3/26/2021, Unh Survey Center
All UNH Survey Center Polls
Most New Hampshire residents are comfortable going to a restaurant and getting their hair done but many remain uncomfortable going to places like bars, gyms, and movie theaters. Many Granite Staters anticipate spending more on visits to theme parks, museums, outdoor recreation, and hotels once the pandemic is over. Half plan to spend all or most of their stimulus check rather than save it, particularly middle and lower income households.

2020 New Hampshire Civic Health Index, Quixada Moore-Vissing, Bruce L. Mallory
Carsey Publications
In this report, authors Quixada Moore-Vissing and Bruce Mallory build on previous Indexes published in 2006, 2009, and 2013 to take stock of New Hampshire's civic well-being in light of the changes the state has experienced in recent years. Their research draws on data from the U.S. Census, the Social Capital Community Benchmarks survey, and the UNH Granite State Poll.

Granite Staters Support Stand Your Ground Expansion, Right-To-Work; Oppose Vouchers And Life-Sentence Reform 3/24/2021, Unh Survey Center
All UNH Survey Center Polls
New Hampshire residents support a bill to expand the state's "stand your ground" use of force law to include defending oneself in a vehicle. A plurality support a "right-to-work" bill and a bill prohibiting abortion after 24 weeks. A voucher system for education funding and a bill ending life-without-parole sentences in the state are not supported. Governor Chris Sununu's job approval and personal popularity have dipped since February but remain high.

Aerosol sulfate is a major component of submicron particulate matter (PM1). Sulfate can be present as inorganic (mainly ammonium sulfate, AS) or organosulfate (OS). Although OS is thought to be a smaller fraction of total sulfate in most cases, recent literature argues that this may not be the case in more polluted environments. Aerodyne aerosol mass spectrometers (AMSs) measure total submicron sulfate, but it has been difficult to apportion AS vs. OS as the detected ion fragments are similar. Recently, two new methods have been proposed to quantify OS separately from AS with AMS data. We use observations collected during …
