Survivors: The Forgotten Followers Of Toxic Leadership, Jason Grant
Survivors: The Forgotten Followers Of Toxic Leadership, Jason Grant
M.S. in Leadership
This research calls for more research about toxic followers. The current body of research identifies two general categories. Generally, followers misbehave by either conforming or colluding with the toxic leader. However, given the complicated nature of defining toxic leadership as a relatively new leadership style and even less literature about susceptible followers, there may be a third type of follower not yet understood; survivors.
Creating An Introductory Workshop For Leaders On Emotional Intelligence, Ashley Eskel
Creating An Introductory Workshop For Leaders On Emotional Intelligence, Ashley Eskel
M.S. in Leadership
This proposal aims to discuss literature relevant to introductory findings on emotional intelligence (EI) to establish the foundation for the creation of an introductory workshop for leaders. While it may be common knowledge that leaders require certain attributes to effectively manage those they lead, research has found that an awareness of emotional intelligence as a skill is highly effective in developing leaders who not only inspire, but also encourage employee engagement and retention by route of fostering a positive work environment. As this project is not in the form of a formal research paper, the intent of this proposal is …
Four Tenets: Success In Overcoming A Crisis – Similarities Between Winston Churchill And University Administrator’S Leadership, Jason Graves
Four Tenets: Success In Overcoming A Crisis – Similarities Between Winston Churchill And University Administrator’S Leadership, Jason Graves
M.S. in Leadership
Being prepared for a crisis is important for any leader. Although time passes, the fundamentals of strong leadership often remain routed in specific principles. This research sets out to illustrate how modern university leadership, specifically at the University of New Hampshire, navigated the COVID-19 pandemic using similar strategies to that of Winston Churchill during World War II. Four tenets are themes throughout the research which are: communication, collaboration, partnership and the advancement of technology. Leaders can often look to the past to prepare for crises in the future.
Emotional Intelligence: The Key To Staff Retention, Ashley Wilson
Emotional Intelligence: The Key To Staff Retention, Ashley Wilson
M.S. in Leadership
This research intends to make a case that leaders with emotional intelligence are the key to maintaining good employees using two primary resources both academic journals and employee questionnaires completed by non-profit area agency staff. This literature review will make a compelling argument that emotional intelligence in leaders is a pertinent characteristic when determining the cause behind staff retention. It will conclude with ways in which leaders can learn emotional intelligence and use that knowledge to ensure job satisfaction and strengthen staff retention.

Process Documentation, Leadership, And Ice Cream: A Case Study, Paige Mcafee
M.S. in Leadership
This research seeks to understand the potential positive impact of process documentation and development on leadership practices, specifically in family-owned, retail, or food service businesses. Leaders face challenges such as clearly communicating the need for change, managing knowledge effectively, creating sustainable and realistic continuous improvement plans, and implementing better succession planning. Process documentation and development help improve upon these issues by defining processes and showing where improvements can be made and ensuring all knowledge is documented and organized for easy access, which helps both continuous improvement and succession planning efforts. Process documentation and development have a positive impact on leadership …

One-Quarter Of Nh Residents & Nearly Half Of Trump Voters Still Unlikely To Receive Covid-19 Vaccine 6/25/2021, Unh Survey Center
All UNH Survey Center Polls
Seven in ten New Hampshire residents report having been vaccinated against COVID-19, a very small percentage still plan to get vaccinated, but a quarter don't plan to get vaccinated. Those who voted for Donald Trump are more than five times as likely as Biden voters to say they don't plan to get vaccinated. Among those who are not vaccinated, very few would change their mind even if advised to by their doctor or family or if the vaccine were required by their employer.

Half Of New Hampshire Residents Buy Local Farm Food At Least A Few Times A Month, But Engagement Varies By County, Jess Carson, Analena Bruce, Isaac Leslie
Carsey Publications
Getting local farm food to customers in ways that make financial and logistical sense for both farmers and consumers has long challenged the growth of direct-to-consumer sales. And despite a surge of interest in local foods spurred by the pandemic, there have been few data sources available to farmers and local food advocates for measuring consumers’ contemporary engagement with local food systems and market types.
In this brief, Jess Carson, Analena Bruce, and Isaac Leslie describe data collected in the May 2021 Granite State Poll and find that while more than 80 percent of Granite Staters report buying local farm …

Elite Cues And The Rapid Decline Of Trust In Science Agencies On Covid-19, Lawrence C. Hamilton, Thomas G. Safford
Faculty Publications
The COVID-19 pandemic has been marked by political divisions in US public trust of scientists. Such divisions are well known on other science topics, but regarding COVID-19 they arose suddenly, with disastrous results. Public distrust of scientists has been variously explained in terms of conflicts with belief systems, psychology, peer influences, or communication from elites. Three surveys conducted from March to July 2020 in the US state of New Hampshire observed changing perceptions on COVID-19, providing a test of alternative explanations. Over this period trust in science agencies such as the CDC for information on the coronavirus fell dramatically among …
