The Fourth H Is For Health : Extension Circular 10-01-2, Mary B. Nelson
Nebraska 4-H Clubs: Historical Materials and Publications
Because your health is effected by your habits, this unit of the 4-H health project is devoted to the study of personal health habits. You are expected to study your habits, determine ways for improvement and to correct some of your faults. Usually, it is advisable to try to change only a few faults at a time; rather than all of them at once. If you continuously work at self improvement, you will be surprised at how fast your health habits improve.

“Government under our system is a resultant of the three forces of Federal, State, and local power. It is the sum total of these forces operating upon the individual that defines his rights and obligations with reference to his community, his state, and his nation. The ways in which these forces have been weighted as against each other have always presented fascinating and significant problems in government both in peace and war. Nowhere is that more true today than in the field of civilian defense, for civilian defense either in terms of protection or in its promotion of the essential …
The Final Judgment Rule And Appellate Review Of Discovery Orders In Nebraska, William H. Sherwood, Clark Nichols Jr.
The Final Judgment Rule And Appellate Review Of Discovery Orders In Nebraska, William H. Sherwood, Clark Nichols Jr.
Nebraska Law Review
In Lund v. Holbrook the Nebraska Supreme Court held that no appeal could be taken until after final judgment from an order requiring a party to turn over documents to his opponent for inspection and copying. The basis for the decision was a statute limiting the appellate jurisdiction of the supreme court to the review of a “judgment rendered or final order.” “Final order” is defined by statute as one which “ . . . in effect determines the action and prevents a judgment.” The same rule would undoubtedly by applied to any other discovery order in Nebraska.
This “final …

Professional Liability, Earl Cline
Nebraska Law Review
The subject of this article, “Professional Liability,” is very broad and could include not only malpractice liability but also other liabilities of the physician and surgeon. Instead of attempting to discuss so broad a field, it will be confined to the subject of liability for malpractice and trespass and particularly recent trends in court decisions relating to the liability of the physician and surgeon therefor.

The Life Cycle Of Crassiphiala Bulboglossa (Trematoda: Strgeida): Development Of The Metacercaria And Cyst, And Effect On The Fish Hosts, Glenn L. Hoffman
United States Fish and Wildlife Service: Publications
The adult of Crassiphiala bulboglossa was described by Van Haitsma (1925) from the kingfisher, Ceryle alcycon. It can be differentiated from Uvulifer ambloplitis (Hughes, 1927), apparently its closest relative in North America, by the presence of a large bulbous holdfast occupying most of a cup-shaped forebody, and the absence of a ventral sucker. In U. ambloplitis the holdfast is small, the forebody is not cupped, and a ventral sucker is present. These species can be readily identified with the keys given by Dubois (1953).

Full Faith And Credit—Fraud In Procurement Of Personal Service—Divorce—Domicile, Floyd A. Sterns
Nebraska Law Review
If some future savant should perchance decipher the remains of any law review, he is almost certain to discover an article on full faith and credit, migratory divorce, and sundry allied problems of jurisdiction, domicile, service of process, and res judicata.
This inquiry is but another attempt to state what part of the law in this area may be at the present time with particular reference to a recent Nebraska case, zenker v. zenker, which raises some interesting questions regarding the never, never land of full faith and credit.
If married persons always had a common domicile there would …
Civil Defense And Law, Part Ii, Val Peterson
Civil Defense And Law, Part Ii, Val Peterson
Nebraska Law Review
American lawyers dare not ignore the legal dislocations that would result from an attack upon this country. A new dimension to the responsibilities of the legal expert is the protection of the legal structure around which is built the nation’s economy. The threat to the national legal machinery is a real one. This danger probably cannot be eliminated; however, intelligent planning can very definitely lessen the impact of severe destruction. Careful, skillful planning, reduced to practical terms and applied judiciously to the daily problems with which we are most familiar, can do much toward reducing the effects of devastating disaster.

Field Manual Fm 30-16, Technical Intelligence, 26 August 1955, Robert Bolin , Depositor
United States Department of Defense Military Intelligence
This manual outlines responsibilities for technical intelligence at all levels in the Army from the top level to units in the field. It discusses technical intelligence training, processing, and operations.
The modern US Army vision of the technical intelligence developed during World War II. The importance of studying foreign military equipment had become apparent and procedures for collecting and evaluating of equipment had been developed. Technical Intelligence procedures and organizations were refined during the cold war and Korean War. Period.
This manual represents a mature picture of Army technical intelligence as it was in the mid-1959s from the viewpoint of …

Classification Of Oligocene Sediments In Nebraska: A Guide For The Stratigraphic Collecting Of Fossil Mammals, C. Bertrand Schultz, Thompson M. Stout
Bulletin of the University of Nebraska State Museum (1924–2023)
The Chadron and Brule formations constitute the White River Group in Nebraska and adjacent states. The Brule is divided into the Orella and Whitney members. The latter members are referred to the Medial and Late Oligocene (equivalents of the European Stampian and Aquitanian), while-the Chadron is equated with the Early Oligocene (Sannoisian). Each unit in Nebraska is subdivided into three parts (Lower, Middle, and Upper; or A, B, and C for the Chadron and Whitney, and A-B, C, and D for the Orella). Key beds such as fossil soils (paleosols), Purplish White beds, and volcanic ash layers, when considered with …

United States Department of Defense Military Intelligence
This is a brief organizational history of a small special-purpose intelligence agency focused on signal equipment used by foreign armies and on the organization and activities of analogous organizations to the US Army Signal Corps in foreign armies. In addition, the Signal Corps Intelligence Agency had been tasked with producing intelligence concerning the Soviet-Bloc civilian power and communications networks.
In the 1950s, the Chief Signal Officer was the head of the US Army Signal Corps which was one of the US Army Technical Services. The Technical Services were bureaus which supplied the army with weapons and equipment, organized and trained …

Jasper Park, with an area of approximately 4 200 square miles, is the largest accessible primeval wildlife sanctuary on this continent and as such its bird lite is of the greatest interest. The meagre available records of earlier conditions indicate that noteworthy changes in the park's avifauna have taken place in the last ,0 years. There can be little doubt that other changes will take place during the years to come. For this reason, then, if tor no other, it seems desirable that as complete a record as possible of the current situation be made, for only against it can …

Analysis Of Business Lotteries And Promotions In Nebraska, Clarence A. H. Meyer
Analysis Of Business Lotteries And Promotions In Nebraska, Clarence A. H. Meyer
Nebraska Law Review
The most frequent inquiry received by the Attorney General of Nebraska relates to the law on lotteries. Although this officer is authorized by statute to give opinions only to state officers and county attorneys, the questions from other sources are answered as well as circumstances will permit. The scope of the answers is necessarily limited unless the request originates with a county attorney. The office of the Attorney General never gives outright written approval of a particular scheme since the scheme in operation may vary in some significant detail. Also, promoters do not hesitate in using reproductions of official approval …
Evidence—Attorney-Client Privilege As Applied To Advice By An Attorney To His Client, Reflecting On Judicial Integrity, Charles J. Burmeister
Evidence—Attorney-Client Privilege As Applied To Advice By An Attorney To His Client, Reflecting On Judicial Integrity, Charles J. Burmeister
Nebraska Law Review
A recent case from the Federal District Court for Nevada, In re Bull, raises some interesting problems as to the extent to which an attorney’s advice which reflects on judicial integrity is privileged. The attorney who was a defendant in a disbarment proceeding had unsuccessfully represented a client in a previous criminal case, and the client was serving a jail sentence. In a letter to the client on the advisability of appealing the conviction, the attorney stated, among other things, that experience had shown that the records of any trial in that judge’s court were emasculated when an appeal …

Commentary On Press Photographers And The Courtroom, William F. Swindler
Commentary On Press Photographers And The Courtroom, William F. Swindler
Nebraska Law Review
The Attorney General of the United States, who happens also to be a graduate of the University of Nebraska School of Journalism, displays a certain ambivalence in the matter of the legal rights of press photographers. This is understandable enough, for there are many editors and reporters who are also of two minds on the subject. And it should be pointed out that the questions which arise with reference to Canon 35 must logically extend to the new communications medium of television which, if anything, will further complicate the whole business.
It is true, as the National Press Photographers Association …
Constitutional Law—Ex Post Facto Clause—Deportation Of Aliens, Deryl F. Hamann
Constitutional Law—Ex Post Facto Clause—Deportation Of Aliens, Deryl F. Hamann
Nebraska Law Review
In 1938, petitioner, an alien, was convicted of violating the Marihuana Tax Act. In 1952, Congress authorized the deportation of all such violators, including those convicted before passage of the 1952 act. Petitioner was ordered deported by an officer of the Immigration and Naturalization Service, and brought a writ of habeas corpus to review the Board of Immigration Appeal’s affirmation of the deportation order, claiming a violation of the ex post facto clause of the Federal Constitution. The district court and the court of appeals denied review, and the United States Supreme Court affirmed. The Court, declining to consider petitioner's …

Discovery And The Physician-Patient Privilege, William H. Hein
Nebraska Law Review
In 1951, Nebraska adopted the principal parts of Rules 26 to 37 of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure pertaining to depositions and discovery. These sections became Sections 25-1267.02 to 25-1267.44 of the Nebraska statutes. Section 25-1267.02 provides that the deponent may be examined regarding any matter not privileged which is relevant to the subject matter involved in the pending action. Also Sections 25-1267.38 and 25-1267.39, relating to written interrogatories and discovery of documents, are limited to discovery of matter not privileged.

Constitutional Law—Uniform Code Of Military Justice—General Article Void For Vagueness?, James W. Hewitt
Nebraska Law Review
Much has been said or written about the rights of servicemen under the new Uniform Code of Military Justice, which is the source of American written military law. Some of the major criticisms of military law have been that it is too harsh, too vague, and too careless of the right to due process of law. A large portion of this criticism has been leveled at Article 134, the general, catch-all article of the Code.

Courtship Activities Of The Anatidae In Eastern Washington, Paul A. Johnsgard
Courtship Activities Of The Anatidae In Eastern Washington, Paul A. Johnsgard
Papers in Ornithology
The many interesting and sometimes spectacular aspects of waterfowl courtship have been observed and recorded by several writers. Among the best and most complete descriptions are those of Bent (1923, 1925), Townsend (1910, 1916), Wetmore (1920), and Hochbaum (1944). However, for the most part these are unillustrated, deal with only a few species, or are based on limited observations.
Emily Dickinson's Approach To Poetry, Donald E. Thackrey
Emily Dickinson's Approach To Poetry, Donald E. Thackrey
University Studies (University of Nebraska) (1888–1984)
One of the most fascinating aspects of any poet is his conception of his art. Many poets have written extensively on the theory of art around which they orient their poetry. Others have clearly revealed their theories by writing criticism of other authors. Emily Dickinson, however, left no critical essays, no elucidation of her artistic principles. It is quite probable, indeed, that she did not consciously concern herself to any extent with poetic theory. She may have written, and written in her unique way, through an instinctive need which would admit of no plodding deliberation or stylistic experimentation. Still, such …

Special Text, St 55-06-1, Transportation Intelligence, June 1954, Robert Bolin , Depositor
United States Department of Defense Military Intelligence
This is a textbook used at the Army Transportation School. In the 1950s, military schools related to one of the Army Technical Services were run by that service. Since the format and content of Army field manuals were often very similar to those of special texts, the same staffs often prepared both. At the time this special text was written no field manual on transportation intelligence has been issued.
The modern US Army vision of the technical intelligence developed during World War II. Shortly before World War II, Army Technical Services had been instructed to set up intelligence sections in …

Guide To The Preparation Of Military Reports Of A Technical Nature, The Engineer School, Fort Belvoir, Virginia, Robert L. Bolin Depositor
United States Army: Publications
This is a brief text prepared for instructional purposes at the US Army Engineer School at Fort Belvoir, VA.
The manuscript covering the preparation of a technical report has been prepared for two reasons: first, to serve as a basic text for instructing student officers in the techniques of report writing and second, to serve as a means of reference. Student officers cannot be expected to retain in their minds all the minute details of report writing to which they are exposed during their period of school training. Considerable time may elapse after graduation and before they are called on …
An Analysis Of Divorce In Nebraska, Kenneth L. Cannon
An Analysis Of Divorce In Nebraska, Kenneth L. Cannon
Nebraska Agricultural Experiment Station: Historical Research Bulletins
Each year the State of Nebraska compiles and publishes a considerable amount of data on marriage and divorce. An analysis of these data-such as a study of the extent, increase, and rate of divorce-offers a factual basis for determining how the family is faring in certain important aspects. Some indication of the probabilities of divorce may also be gained. The areas in a state where family breakdown is least and most pronounced may be located, and by comparing these areas, factors associated with high rates of divorce may be determined. The location of the areas may point out where research …
North American Prairie, J. E. Weaver
North American Prairie, J. E. Weaver
Papers of John E. Weaver (1884–1956)
TO MOST AMERICANS, the word "Prairie" suggests either a romantic element in pioneer fiction or a vast expanse of level land which must be crossed in going from one coast to another. But to the botanist, the American Prairie is a wonderfully complex society of living organisms.
This book tells the story of that society-the variety of its inhabitants; the constitution of its several communities; the internal struggles for domination of the society; and the battles of the Prairie as a whole against its two most vicious enemies, drought and overgrazing. Most striking, perhaps, is the story of that portion …
