Comparison Of Green's Functions For A Family Of Boundary Value Problems For Fractional Difference Equations, Paul W. Eloe, Catherine Kublik, Jeffrey T. Neugebauer
Mathematics Faculty Publications
In this paper, we obtain sign conditions and comparison theorems for Green's functions of a family of boundary value problems for a Riemann-Liouville type delta fractional difference equation. Moreover, we show that as the length of the domain diverges to infinity, each Green's function converges to a uniquely defined Green's function of a singular boundary value problem.

Mary Lynn McCree Bryan, Maree de Angury, and Ellen Skerrett, editors. The Selected Papers of Jane Addams, Volume III: Creating Hull-House and an International Presence, 1889-1900. University of Illinois Press, 2019.
The sheer amount of material packed into the nearly 1,000 pages of The Selected Papers of Jane Addams, volume 3, is breath-taking. In this volume the editors, Mary Lynn McCree Bryan, Maree de Angury, and Ellen Skerrett include a generous selection of Addams’s correspondence and writings during the first decade of Hull House’s existence, supplemented by extensive endnotes and commentary. This continues the pattern the editors used in …

Abstract for paper for which this research was collected: Notophthalmus viridescens (Red-spotted Newt) possess amazing capabilities to regenerate their organs and other tissues. Previously, using a de novo assembly of the newt transcriptome combined with proteomic validation, we identified a novel family of 5 protein members expressed in adult tissues during regeneration in Notophthalmus viridescens. Due to absence of transgenic approaches in the Notophthalmus, and conservation of genetic machinery across species, we generated transgenic Drosophila melanogaster to misexpress these genes.
Samples for RNA sequencing were collected at third instar larval (L3) developmental stage. Out of the total 36,099 …

RATIONALE: The Master’s of Mathematic Education was envisioned primarily as a vehicle that would provide licensed professional educators with a graduate degree. At the time of the concentration’s greatest popularity, graduate degrees were a key part of the seniority rubric used by school districts in Ohio; possessing a Master’s level degree had better prospects for professional advancement than those who only had Bachelor’s level degrees. Over time, that requirement has changed and/or been eliminated in many cases. As such, the program has become less popular, leading to a general decline in its enrollment.

Performance Analysis Of Machine Learning And Deep Learning Architectures For Malaria Detection On Cell Images, Barath Narayanan, Redha Ali, Russell C. Hardie

Plasmodium malaria is a parasitic protozoan that causes malaria in humans. Computer aided detection of Plasmodium is a research area attracting great interest. In this paper, we study the performance of various machine learning and deep learning approaches for the detection of Plasmodium on cell images from digital microscopy. We make use of a publicly available dataset composed of 27,558 cell images with equal instances of parasitized (contains Plasmodium) and uninfected (no Plasmodium) cells. We randomly split the dataset into groups of 80% and 20% for training and testing purposes, respectively. We apply color constancy and spatially resample all images …

Active Recall Networks For Multiperspectivity Learning Through Shared Latent Space Optimization, Theus Aspiras, Ruixu Liu, Vijayan K. Asari
Electrical and Computer Engineering Faculty Publications
Given that there are numerous amounts of unlabeled data available for usage in training neural networks, it is desirable to implement a neural network architecture and training paradigm to maximize the ability of the latent space representation. Through multiple perspectives of the latent space using adversarial learning and autoencoding, data requirements can be reduced, which improves learning ability across domains. The entire goal of the proposed work is not to train exhaustively, but to train with multiperspectivity. We propose a new neural network architecture called Active Recall Network (ARN) for learning with less labels by optimizing the latent space. This …
