What began in late 2016 as a peaceful protest by lawyers and teachers in Cameroon’s North West and South West regions quickly turned violent and developed into what’s become known as Cameroon’s anglophone crisis. The protest was instigated by perceived marginalisation of Cameroon’s anglophone region, which makes up 20% of the nation’s 29 million people. The conflict has resulted in immense destruction and casualties. Cameroon’s military responded to the protest with arrests and torture. Voices that called for complete secession of the anglophone regions from the Republic of Cameroon gained momentum. They created a virtual Ambazonia Republic and an interim …

This historiography paper examines how historians have viewed secondary sources in the form of books, academic journals, and academic articles that I find from databases such as the UD library, Gale, JSTOR, and other academic resources. I began by researching ethical issues across various career fields, but I had a challenging time choosing a topic. After some consideration, I landed on the excavation of the deceased in archaeology, which has always interested me. At the beginning of the semester, I decided to analyze the historical conversation of the presidency of Ulysses S. Grant for my ASI 120 Historiography. To start my research, I collected relevant sources, from historians, that cover Grant’s presidency from multiple decades dating back to the 1930s. Then I wrote an annotated bibliography, where I read and articulated the main argument of each source to highlight the author’s contribution to the historiography, while also examining their evidence to determine the distinctive qualities of their work.
