Finite mixture models have been widely used to cluster data consisting of homogeneous subpopulations. In forensic palynology, pollen is used as a proxy to link individuals or items to a crime scene. Mixtures of pollen data-including willow and mustard and blank samples-were analyzed using flow cytometry. Willow and mustard clusters tend to have multivariate normal distributions, while a background cluster has multivariate non-normal distribution. We propose a finite mixture model capable of handling the mixtures of pollen in terms of univariate and multivariate distribution. The proposed methods are applied in simulated and mixture of pollen datasets.

The growing prevalence of high-frequency, high-dimensional data streams in domains such as finance, cybersecurity, and industrial monitoring has intensified the demand for real-time multiple change point detection methods. These methods are expected to identify distributional shifts as they occur while also determining the number and locations of change points—even in the presence of noise, outliers, and limited labeled data. Traditional batch-based approaches and many existing machine learning models fall short in streaming contexts due to their reliance on static datasets and sensitivity to contamination.

This study examines whether religiosity moderates the relationship between neighborhood disorder and delinquent behavior among juvenile offenders. Drawing on Social Disorganization Theory and Neighborhood Disorder, the study hypothesizes that religiosity, both as an attitude and as a behavior, serves as a protective factor against delinquency in disordered neighborhoods. Using data from the Pathways to Desistance study, this research employs Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) regression with and without interaction terms to assess how individual perceptions of disorder interact with religiosity in influencing minor and major delinquency. The adoption of Electronic Performance Monitoring (EPM) systems has increased with the prevalence of remote workers post-COVID. Research indicates EPM yields conflicting performance and behavioral outcomes. EPM-related behavior can be predicted by organizational justice (the extent to which workplaces are perceived as fair in nature); environments with higher justice ratings are less likely to induce issues like stress and distrust. This thesis intended to explore if and how recent restrictive Florida legislation has impacted the mental health of sexual and gender minority (SGM) individuals. The laws focused on are HB 1557 and SB 1674, which restrict discussions of SGM individuals and bathroom options for transgender/nonbinary individuals. Prior studies suggest that restrictive legislation is associated with an increase in depression, concealment stress, and suicidality among SGM individuals (Dhanani & Totton, 2023; Rao & Mason, 2018). Heart-rate variability (HRV) has been documented to correlate with several health measures, including autonomic nervous system longevity and athletic performance (Zulfiqar, 2010). While increasing age does not affect heart rate, there is a steady decline in HRV, which is a biological marker of aging and the decline of autonomic nervous system function. White matter hyperintensities appear as lighter, hyperintense regions on T2-weighted fluid-attenuated inversion recovery (FLAIR) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans and are physiologically characterized as demyelination and axonal loss reflected as microvascular lesions in cerebral white matter (Marseglia et. al., 2019).
