Functional studies of murine T cells were performed to verify the role of T cells and adherent cells in the production of IL-2 and to clarify the role of the L3T4 receptor. Whole spleen cells were passed over nylon wool columns to obtain purified populations of cells for this purpose. It was found upon reconstitution of the T cells and adherent cells that a collaboration between the two was necessary for optimal IL-2 production. Their level of IL-2 production increased above the amount produced by the whole spleen cells. Antibody mediated cytotoxicity using L3T4 antisera identified T helper cells exclusively. …

The training community has focused considerable attention on interactive video technology which in recent years has become a popular method of delivery for training applications utilizing microcomputers. This paper identifies the classifications of interactive video and addresses the hardware, software and processes required to utilize the technology for training applications. The capabilities and limitations of the technology are discussed with respect to the various video devices which are utilized. Successful Women In Speech Communication: A National Survey Of Strategies And Skills, Contributions And Conflicts, Judy C. Pearson, Judith S. Trent

Association for Communication Administration Bulletin

This article reports a national survey of successful women in speech communication and analyzes pathways to advancement, mentoring, communicative practices, and self perception. Using a six page questionnaire sent to women at the associate and professor ranks listed in the 1983 disciplinary directory, the study obtained 163 responses, a 52 percent rate. Respondents typically achieved promotion through traditional academic markers, including publications in communication journals, national conference presentations, professional service, and strong student evaluations, while external grants and books were less common. About two thirds reported having a mentor, most often a man, and many served as mentors to junior …
