Effects Of Temperature And Ripening Stage On The Respiration Rate Of Tomatoes, Ali̇ Batu Jan 1999

Effects Of Temperature And Ripening Stage On The Respiration Rate Of Tomatoes, Ali̇ Batu

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry

The effects of storage temperature and ripening stage on the ripening rate of freshly harvested tomatoes before storage were determined. Respiration was slower in tomatoes harvested at mature green stage of ripening, and the respiration rate increased until the tomatoes reached to the pink and light-red stages of maturity. The maximum CO 2 production occurred in toma-toes harvested at pink, light-red and red stages of maturity, whereas the minimum O 2 consumption occurred in tomatoes harvested at turning, pink and light-red stages of maturity. The highest levels of ethylene were produced by tomatoes harvested at breaking, turning and pink stages …

Comparison Of The Centroid Method And Four Standard Formulas For Estimating Log Volumes, Hakki Yavuz Jan 1999

Comparison Of The Centroid Method And Four Standard Formulas For Estimating Log Volumes, Hakki Yavuz

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry

Centroid Samling was tested on 21 logs of Ash ( Fraxinus angustifolia subsp. oxycarpa), 38 logs of Spruce ( Picea orien-talis (L.) Link.), and 33 logs of Beech ( Fagus orientalis Lipsky.) all of which were measured in detail. The wolume of each log was estimated using Huber's, Smalian's, Newton, Riecke's, Hosfeld's formulas and Centroid Sampling. These estimates were compared with "true" volume of each log which was determined by aggregating the volumes of measured short sections (1 m.) using Smalian's formula. The mean error of the Centroid estimate of the log volumes was not significant for Fraxinus angustifoliasubsp. oxycarpa, …

Determination Of Hydraulic Performances Of In-Line Emitters, Bülent Özeki̇ci̇, Sefer Bozkurt Jan 1999

Determination Of Hydraulic Performances Of In-Line Emitters, Bülent Özeki̇ci̇, Sefer Bozkurt

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry

The efficiency of trickle irrigation systems depends directly on the uniformity with which water is discharged from the emission devices throughout the system. Ideally, all emitters in the system should discharge equal amounts of water. One major cause of flow rate difference between two identical emitters from the same manufacturer is the manufacturing variation. In this study, manufacturers' rated discharges and coefficient of manufacturing variation values were compared with tested values for various in-line emitters. Discharge rates from 12 different types of trickle irrigation emitters were collected at six different operating pressure levels. Pressure compensating emitters were tested at 50, …

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry

In this study, possibilities of using the tobacco wastes as fertilizers, after processing in cigarette industry have been investigated. Wheat and rape seed and sesame and corn were selected as test plants for winter and summer time period, respectively. For this purpose, tobacco wastes in the different rates (0, 750, 1500, 2250 and 3000 kg/da) were applied into soil at 15 cm. depth two months ago before seeding so it provides partly decomposition of the tobacco wastes. Also another plot which is fertilized at the recommended rates for each crop was included into experiment for comparing the effects of tobacco …

Problems Encountered In The Irrigated And Non-Irrigated Areas Of The Lower Seyhan Plain And Recommendations For Solution: A Case Study, Mahmut Çeti̇n, Hasan Özcan

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry

The purpose of this study is to investigate the problems encountered in the irrigated and non-irrigated areas of Lower Seyhan Plain which coveres 213 200 ha land and has a great agricultural potential for Turkish economy. In the irrigated areas; it has been determined that actual cropping pattern is quite different from the proposed one, and irrigation ratio varied between 66 and 86 %. Although drainage problems still exist in 50 % of groundwater observation area, lands with groundwater salinity Ievels more than 5 000 \mumhos/cm cover only 4-5 % of these areas. Also, recently installed closed-conduit drains have improved …

Exclusive Disjunctions In Indefinite And Maybe Information In Relational Databases, Taflan İ. Gündem Jan 1999

Exclusive Disjunctions In Indefinite And Maybe Information In Relational Databases, Taflan İ. Gündem

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

Incorporating indefinite information into databases has been studied extensively. In this paper, we propose a structure called an E-table to represent maybe information and inclusive and exclusive disjunctions. We define the type of redundancies in E-tables and show how to eliminate them. Also we present an extended relational algebra to operate on E-tables. In this paper we expand the concepts and operations defined by Lin and Sunderraman [1] in order to accommodate exclusive disjunctions in relational databases.

Proteolitic Enzyme Activities In Some Fishery Products(Catepsin D And Casein Test), Şükran Çakli Jan 1999

Proteolitic Enzyme Activities In Some Fishery Products(Catepsin D And Casein Test), Şükran Çakli

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

In this study, proteolitic enzym activities searched on fillets and organs of brined and salted ringa ( Clupea harengus ), frozen Sebastes marinus and fresh cod ( Gadus morrhua ) with using Catepsin D (mg Tyrosin/L -1 ) and Casein (unit/mg) tests. At the end of the study proteolytic enzym activity determined with using Catepsin D on studied fishs, was higher than the proteolitic enzym activity determined with using Casein test. It was determined higher activity in organs (especially intestine and pyloric caeca) than the fillets. Because of this reason, after fishing as soon as organs and blood must remove …
