Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry
This study covers agricultural farms in Kazova area of Tokat province. The main material of the study was the data obtained from 134 farms by survey in period of 1994- 1995. In the study, translog production fonction and Allen Partial Elasticity of Substitution (AES) in order to determine input-input relation were used. Estimated equations analyzed econometrictly and marginal analysis belonging to the each estimated equations which are marginal production elasticity. Production elasticity of function, coefficient of efficiency and AES were analyzed and commented. In the light of findings, it can be said that farming income might be increased by efficient …
Investigation On Changes In Physical And Chemical Properties Of Palm Kernel Oil During Hydrogenation, İhsan Karabulut, Muammer Kayahan
Investigation On Changes In Physical And Chemical Properties Of Palm Kernel Oil During Hydrogenation, İhsan Karabulut, Muammer Kayahan
Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry
Palm kernel oil was hydrogenated discontinuously for a period of 100 min at 165°C and 2,5 atm in the presence of nickel catalyst (%0,18). The changes in iodine number, fatty acid composition, trans fatty acid content and solid fat content during the hydrogenation were investigated for samples taken at 10 min intervals. According to the findings, while iodine number was gradually decreased during the reaction, trans fatty acid content increased significantly. Reaction conditions had increased effect on stearic acid formation from monoens. Trans fatty acid and total saturated fatty acid amounts increased proportionally with increase in SFC values.

A Study On The Determination Of The Relationship Between Grain Yield And Certain Yield Components Of Corn Using Correlation And Path Analysis, Muhteşem Torun, Coşkun Köycü
Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry
A study was conducted to provide some useful information for corn breeding programmes in the Black Sea Region of Turkey. Correlation and path analysis were performed to determine the relationship between grain yield and certain yield components and the characters influencing the yield of corn. Experiments were carried out between 1988-1990, in three locations each year, representing clay and loamy-clay soils in the Çarşamba Plain of the Samsun Province. Four varieties (Yerli, Karadeniz Yıldızı, TTM-8119, P.3377) and six nitrogen levels (0, 4, 8, 12, 16 and 20 kg/da N) were tested. Number of kernels per ear, number of rows per …

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry
This study was conducted to determine effects of various planting patterns on forage yield and some characters of corn and bean grown under intercropping as a second crop at Tokat - Kazova ecological conditions in 1992 and 1993. Planting patterns significantly influenced maize leaf ratio, stem ratio, and forage yield. The highest forage corn yield was obtained from pure stand maize and 1 corn + 2 bean alternate rows. Intercropping has significantly influenced leaf ratio, green pod yield and forage yield of bean. The highest forage bean yield was obtained from pure stand bean however, the lowest yield was obtained …

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the comsumption of concertrated fruit juice by household, and determine the socio-economic factors that affect the level of comsumption. For this purpose, data was collected from a survey of 225 households in Adana in February 1997. A Tobit model was used in the analysis to determine the effects of various socio-economic variables on consumption. It was con-cluded that four variables are significant on househod fruit juice purchase. These are: the mothers' status, household income, the number of teenagers in the household, and the mother's education level. Two of these factors were found …
Studies On Effects Of Russian Knapweed (Acroptilon Repens (L.) Dc) And Butter Cup (Ranunculus Damascenus Boiss And Gaill), Causing Problem In Winter Wheat, On Yield And Determination Of Their Economical Thresholds In Van, İlhan Kaya, Işik Tepe
Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry
In this study, effects of different densities of Russian knapweed (Acroptilon repens (L.) DC) and butter cup (Ranunculus damascenus Boiss and Gaill) on yield and yield components of winter wheat were researched in Van. It was determinated that, increasing densities of A. repens have decreased number of spike, grain, straw and total yield of wheat. But, increasing densities of R. damascenus have not been effective on yield and yield components because of being small constitution and having short growing period. Ten plants per m^2 of A. repens reduced grain and straw yields respectively 24.3 and 19%. These amounts are over …

Sample trees of 36-44 cm in diameter and 18-20 m in length were supplied from the Maçka - Karahava region. The samples were removed from trees with stems 2,7 and 12 m above the ground. The dimensions and number of tracheids and rays per unit area, the diameter of resin canals, bordered pits, and pits on interfaces of the samples were measured. The results showed that the cell wall thickness increased and the diameter of bordered pits …

While the highest protein content was obtained at the level of …
Studies On The Storage Of Some Walnut Types Grown Around Van Lake, Mehmet Ali̇ Koyuncu, M. Ati̇lla Aşkin
Studies On The Storage Of Some Walnut Types Grown Around Van Lake, Mehmet Ali̇ Koyuncu, M. Ati̇lla Aşkin
Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry
In this study, some walnut types were stored in different conditions and packaging materials such as unshelled and shelled and investigated the quality variations during their storage . Our experiments showed that the most suitable conditions for walnut storage are at 0°C and 5°C and 55 -65 % of relative humidity. The polyethylene bags used as a packaging are more suitable than synthetic woven and cloth bags for unshelled walnuts. Least quality losses occured on vacum bags in shelled walnuts during storage. Unshelled walnuts were stored in more quality and for longer time than shelled walnuts. When the storage temperature was …

Examination Of Long-Term (1929-1990) Daily Minimum, Mean And Maximum Temperature Values Of Adana By Time Series Analysis, Ali̇ Yücel, Fati̇h Topaloğlu
Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry
Climatic changes observed historically need to be known accurately in order to understand the present climatic conditions and to estimate climatic changes to be occur in future. In studies to be done to determine temporal variation of climatic variables, it is accepted that changes can be defined certainly in deterministic methods, and the result of the statistical methods have also spot errors due to the shortage of observation periods and random of observations. In this respect, a model presenting interested climate variable is developed depending on present short observation period. Then, parameters related to the developed model are estimated and …

The Production Technique Of Mycorrhizal Spore For Using In Large Arable Land, İbrahi̇m Ortaş, Betül Ergün, Derya Ortakçi, Server Ercan, Ökkeş Köse
Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry
Almost %96 of plant species are mycorrhizal infected. Some of them request definitely mycorrhizal infection. Since growth of spores are obligate to the living plant roots, it is nearly impossible to produce mycorrhizal spores under the laboratory conditions. Production of mycorrhizal spores is one of the important step of mycorrhizal work. It is also very important to know the minimum amount of inoculum in order to reach the maximum percentage of infection. The aim of this research was to select the best host plant, in order to obtain high level of mycorrhizal infection, mycorrhizal species and to find the best …

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry
The study was conducted to determine seedling stage tolerances to salinity stress of 7 bread wheat and 2 durum wheat cultivars which were widely grown in Eagean Region. The experiment comprised on two factors, salt (NaCl) concentrations (control, EC values 8, 16 and 24 mmhos/cm) and wheat genotypes. A split plot design was partitioned into 3 blocks representing a replication as salt concentration and each replication was devided into sub plots as cultivars. The characteristics such as rate of seedling emergence, length of shoot and root, dry weight of shoot and root, total dry weight, salt tolerance indexes were screened. …
