Attitudes Of Nigerian Medical Students Towards Autopsy, Victor James Ekanem, Kingsley O. Akhigbe
Attitudes Of Nigerian Medical Students Towards Autopsy, Victor James Ekanem, Kingsley O. Akhigbe
Turkish Journal of Medical Sciences
The use of autopsy in medical education has been declining although autopsy as an educational experience helps students to correlate clinical findings with basic medical sciences. Students' views in relation to its relevance in medical education are necessary in order to justify its continuous inclusion in medical school curriculum. Two hundred and forty 5th and 6th year medical students who had completed their postings in Anatomical and forensic pathology from two institutions were randomly selected for the study. The students were asked to respond anonymously to a 21 item questionnaire which dealt with their views on the importance of autopsy …
An Experience On Problem Based Learning In An Engineering Faculty, Cüneyt Güzeli̇ş
An Experience On Problem Based Learning In An Engineering Faculty, Cüneyt Güzeli̇ş
Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences
In 2001, Engineering Faculty of Dokuz Eylül University has started to change its undergraduate education in a radical way. As being among the first examples in the world, the Departments of Electrical and Electronics, Geological and Geophysics Engineering in 2002 and Mining Engineering Department in 2003 have adopted the so-called "modular-staged problem based active learning system". The system is based on real engineering problems which values teamwork and the integration of information from different disciplines and it places the student at the center of the learning process. The faculty has learned many things and it needs to learn many other …
Mineral-Chemical Constraints On The Miocene Calc-Alkaline And Shoshonitic Volcanic Rocks Of Western Turkey: Disequilibrium Phenocryst Assemblages As Indicators Of Magma Storage And Mixing Conditions, Ercan Aldanmaz
Turkish Journal of Earth Sciences
Early to Middle Miocene (22 to 15 Ma) volcanic activity across western Turkey produced a series of lavas and pyroclastic deposits with calc-alkaline and shoshonitic affinities. The erupted magmas show a broad range of compositions from basaltic to rhyolitic (48-75 SiO2 wt%) and are composed of variable phenocryst assemblages. Petrographic and mineral-chemical characteristics suggest that the magmas underwent hydrous crystallization in deep crustal magma chambers that was dominated by plagioclase + pyroxene + pargasitic amphibole fractionation. Subsequent crystallization in shallower magma chambers followed two different trends: (1) anhydrous (pyroxene + plagioclase-dominated); and (2) hydrous (plagioclase + edenitic amphibole + pyroxene-dominated). …
Mohr-Circle-Based Rotational Invariants Of A Magnetotelluric Data Set From The Thrace Region Of Turkey: Geological Implications, Murat Bayrak, Aysan Gürer, Ö. Feyzi̇ Gürer, O. Meti̇n İlkişik, Ahmet T. Başokur
Mohr-Circle-Based Rotational Invariants Of A Magnetotelluric Data Set From The Thrace Region Of Turkey: Geological Implications, Murat Bayrak, Aysan Gürer, Ö. Feyzi̇ Gürer, O. Meti̇n İlkişik, Ahmet T. Başokur
Turkish Journal of Earth Sciences
In the summer of 1995, magnetotelluric data were acquired at forty sites along a southwest-northeast profile crossing northwestern Turkey in continental Europe. The traverse, 204 km in length, crossed the boundary between a metamorphic mass called the Istranca Massif and a large Tertiary sedimentary basin called the Thrace Basin. The pseudosections of Mohr-circle-based rotational invariant characteristics of the magnetotelluric data such as central impedance (d3), anisotropy angle (l) and phase of central impedance (fd3) were prepared with classical magnetotelluric parameters (apparent resistivity and impedance phase), and detailed Mohr-circle displays were shown for selected stations as a function of the Bostick …

P-Elastica In The 3-Dimensional Lorentzian Space Forms, Nevi̇n Gürbüz
P-Elastica In The 3-Dimensional Lorentzian Space Forms, Nevi̇n Gürbüz
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
R Huang worked the p-elastic in a Riemannian manifold with constant sectional curvature [1]. In this work, we solve the Euler-Lagrange equation by quadrature and study the Frenet equation of the p-elastica by using the Killing field in the three dimensional Lorentzian space forms
On Irregular Semi Strong P-Adic U Numbers, Hülya Duru
On Irregular Semi Strong P-Adic U Numbers, Hülya Duru
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
The concept of the ``relation of comparability'' was introduced by Maillet in [7], who showed that if \alpha,\beta are comparable Liouville numbers then each of the numbers \alpha +\beta, \alpha -\beta, \alpha \beta and \alpha /\beta is either a rational or Lioville number. Moreover those which are Liouville numbers are comparable aamong theem and to \alpha and \beta. Maillet's proof uses in an essential way the transitivity of the comparability relation. Unfortunately, as the comparability relation is not transitive, his proof is defective. In this paper, without using the comparability relation, we obtain some uncountable subfields of p-adic numbers field, …
Pullbacks Of Crossed Modules And Cat^1- Commutative Algebras, Murat Alp
Pullbacks Of Crossed Modules And Cat^1- Commutative Algebras, Murat Alp
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
In this paper we first review the definitions of crossed module [10], pullback crossed module and cat^1-object in the category of commutative algebras. We then describe a certain pullback of cat^1- commutative algebras.
Influence Of Thickness On Optical Properties Of A: As_2se_3 Thin Films, Dinesh C. Sati, Rajendra Kumar, Ram Mohan Mehra
Influence Of Thickness On Optical Properties Of A: As_2se_3 Thin Films, Dinesh C. Sati, Rajendra Kumar, Ram Mohan Mehra
Turkish Journal of Physics
This paper reports optical properties of amorphous chalcogenide thin films of As_2Se_3 of different thicknesses 2000-6800 Å. The transmittance and reflectance of thin films were measured in the wavelength range 500-1000 nm. It was found that the optical band gap increases with film thickness. Variation of refractive index n and extinction coefficient k with thickness have been studied to analyze optical efficiency of the As_2Se_3 thin films. The dielectric behavior of the films has also been studied and high frequency dielectric constants \varepsilon_{\infty} has been estimated as a function of thickness of films.
Electronic Publishing For Engineering Education, Donald G. Dudley
Electronic Publishing For Engineering Education, Donald G. Dudley
Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences
Electronic transmission of text is a revolution in progress with a profound effect on engineering education. As with all revolutions, the result is both a threat and a promise. The promise is the ease and speed of dissemination of text. The threat involves serious difficulties that arise in efforts to protect the intellectual property rights of the authors and publishers of the technical information. In this paper, we discuss both the threat and the promise. We highlight the differences in dealing with books and with journals. We give a wide range of examples from both inside of and outside of …
