Interface And Surface Optical Phonons Spectra In Wurtzite Nitride Quantum Well Wires: Size And Dielectric Effects, Li Zhang Jan 2007

Interface And Surface Optical Phonons Spectra In Wurtzite Nitride Quantum Well Wires: Size And Dielectric Effects, Li Zhang

Turkish Journal of Physics

By employing the method of electrostatic potential expansion, the interface optical (IO) and surface optical (SO) phonon modes and the corresponding Fröhlich-like electron-phonon-interaction Hamiltonian in a Q1D wurtzite cylindrical quantum well wire (QWW) embedded in nonpolar dielectric matrix are derived and studied based on the dielectric continuum model and Loudon's uniaxial crystal model. Numerical calculations for a wurtzite GaN/AlN QWW are mainly focused on the size- and dielectric-dependent IO and SO phonon spectra and electron-IO (SO)phonons coupling functions. Results reveal that, in general, there are two branches of IO phonon modes and one branch of SO mode in the system. …

The Extreme Ultraviolet Emission Lines Of Some Cataclysmic Variables At Outburst, Romanus N. C. Eze Jan 2007

The Extreme Ultraviolet Emission Lines Of Some Cataclysmic Variables At Outburst, Romanus N. C. Eze

Turkish Journal of Physics

Using spectral technique, analyses of some astrophysical data from the EUVE satellite in the Extreme Ultraviolet region on accretion disk of some cataclysmic variable were carried out. A number of strong emission lines in 14 CVs were discovered. Most CVs follow a similar trend in the number of ionized elements present in their spectrum while some have very few or no ionized elements in their spectrum. The AM Herculis star, which has the weakest magnetic field of all seven magnetic CVs studied, contain no ionized elements in its EUVE spectroscopy. However, for the rest of the CVs, there is sufficient …

Unsteady Mhd Flow Due To Eccentric Rotating Disks For Suction And Blowing, Muhammad R. Mohyuddin Jan 2007

Unsteady Mhd Flow Due To Eccentric Rotating Disks For Suction And Blowing, Muhammad R. Mohyuddin

Turkish Journal of Physics

An exact solution of unsteady flow of a viscous fluid due to a sudden pull with constant velocities of non-coaxial rotations between two porous infinite disks in the presence of uniform transpose magnetic field is investigated. Two different methods are used to obtain the solution at large times and the solution at small times. The effects of magnetic field suction and injection on the velocity distributions are presented.

Time Dependent Entropy Of Constant Force Motion, Özgür Özcan, Ethem Aktürk, Ramazan Sever Jan 2007

Time Dependent Entropy Of Constant Force Motion, Özgür Özcan, Ethem Aktürk, Ramazan Sever

Turkish Journal of Physics

Time dependent entropy of constant force motion is investigated. Obtained is the joint entropy, also known as the Leipnik entropy. The main purpose of this work is to calculate the Leipnik entropy via a time dependent wave function which is obtained by the Feynman path integral method. For this case it is found the Leipnik entropy increases with time, and is the same behavior as in the free particle case.

A Single Junction Barrier Model For Varistors, Mustapha Tioursi, Abdallah Chaouch Jan 2007

A Single Junction Barrier Model For Varistors, Mustapha Tioursi, Abdallah Chaouch

Turkish Journal of Physics

In this paper, we propose a simplified model that explains the experimental behaviour of the single junction barrier height in varistors. The equation obtained for the barrier height variation versus voltage contains all parameters that characterize the grain boundary and has no adjustable parameters. It allows us to describe the equilibrium state for each voltage level. From this model, it is concluded that the threshold voltage and the nonlinearity coefficient for a single junction barrier are strongly related to the unoccupied traps level at zero bias, when the barrier height at zero bias and the leakage current are related to …

Application Of Pma Towards Moderating The Charge Storage Capability Of Mis Memory Cell Based On Pecvd Deposited Silicon Nitride Thin Films, Satinder K. Sharma, B. Prasad, Dinesh Kumar Jan 2007

Application Of Pma Towards Moderating The Charge Storage Capability Of Mis Memory Cell Based On Pecvd Deposited Silicon Nitride Thin Films, Satinder K. Sharma, B. Prasad, Dinesh Kumar

Turkish Journal of Physics

A memory capacitor formed from Al/Si_3N_4/Si was prepared by means of trapping and de trapping mechanism of the dielectric films. Charge trapping and interface state characteristics of silicon nitride (Si_3N_4) films deposited by standard plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition technique were investigated. High frequency capacitance-voltage (C-V), conductance-voltage (G-V) and current voltage (I-V) measurements were carried out at various temperatures on metal-oxide-semiconductor capacitors, for as-deposited samples, post metallization annealed (PMA) at 400 °C and 600 °C samples. The electrically measured characteristics indicate the shift in flat band voltage V_FB in silicon nitride (Si_3N_4) was initially much higher in the as-deposited samples. …

Rheology Of Polyaniline Dispersions In Acrylic Resin, Nicoleta Plesu, Smaranda Iliescu, Gheorghe Ilia, Adriana Popa, Cornelia Muntean Jan 2006

Rheology Of Polyaniline Dispersions In Acrylic Resin, Nicoleta Plesu, Smaranda Iliescu, Gheorghe Ilia, Adriana Popa, Cornelia Muntean

Turkish Journal of Chemistry

Acrylic dispersions based on polyaniline were obtained and characterised. The polyaniline was obtained by chemical polymerisation of aniline in different organic acid containing phosphorous, in the presence of ammonium-peroxidisulphate as oxidant agent. The blends were obtained by mechanical dispersion of polyaniline in commercially available acrylic resin. The flow behaviour of these dispersions at different shear rates was studied. Furthermore, the resulting acrylic dispersions were analysed by IR spectroscopy, and were characterised in terms of their electrical resistance and rheological behaviour

Short And Effective Synthesis Of A Thiophene Analogue Of (\Pm)-4-Ipomeanol And Its Biological Evaluation, Jurgen Krauss, Doris Unterreitmeier, Franz Bracher

Turkish Journal of Chemistry

The thiophene analogue of (\pm)-4-ipomeanol (1) was prepared in 2 steps starting from 3-iodothiophene and pent-4-yn-2-ol. The key steps were a Sonogashira reaction, followed by HgO catalysed hydratisation of the triple bond. The resulting thiophene was tested in the MTT assay for its cytotoxic activity against HL 60 cells.

Optical Fluoride Sensing With A Bay Region Functionalized Perylenediimide Dye, Funda Yukruk Jan 2006

Optical Fluoride Sensing With A Bay Region Functionalized Perylenediimide Dye, Funda Yukruk

Turkish Journal of Chemistry

A perylenedimiide (PDI) derivative functionalized at the perylene core (bay region) to carry phenyl boronic acid groups was shown to interact with fluoride with changes in the emission and absorption spectrum. These changes are most likely due to fluoride-induced aggregation and/or quenching of the perylenediimide dye. The dye is also selective; among halide ions, fluoride anions generate a significant response. Thus, this class of PDI derivatives is likely to be useful in practical fluoride sensing.

Synthesis Of Some New Functionalized Octasilsesquioxane Hybrid Nanoclusters. Iii. Potential Of The Octameric Clusters As Hydraulic Lubricating Fluids, Enock O. Dare Jan 2006

Synthesis Of Some New Functionalized Octasilsesquioxane Hybrid Nanoclusters. Iii. Potential Of The Octameric Clusters As Hydraulic Lubricating Fluids, Enock O. Dare

Turkish Journal of Chemistry

The reaction of suitable organic compounds such as \omega -halo-1-alkenes, allyltrichlorosilane or 2-methyl-3-butyn-2-ol in combination with a well-defined inorganic silsesquioxane, H_8Si_8O_{12} A cores, leads to covalently bound organic-inorganic hybrid materials in high yields. The hydraulic fluid properties of these viscous hybrid materials were evaluated and compared with those of some commercially available hydraulic fluids: Mobil EAL 224H, Super-V (AP) and Puroil SHO. The results showed that most silsesquioxane semi-liquids possess hydraulic fluid properties comparable to those of the 3 commercial lubricants.

Electrochemical Copolymerization Of Thiophene Containing Pseudo-Polyether Cages With Pyrrole, Ati̇lla Ci̇haner, Ahmet M. Önal Jan 2006

Electrochemical Copolymerization Of Thiophene Containing Pseudo-Polyether Cages With Pyrrole, Ati̇lla Ci̇haner, Ahmet M. Önal

Turkish Journal of Chemistry

Conducting copolymers were synthesized via the electrochemical oxidation of pyrrole (Py) in the presence of the monomer 1,12-bis(2-thienyl)-2,5,8,11-tetraoxadodecane (I). The presence of monomer I in the electrolytic solution greatly changed the CV behavior of Py during its potensiodynamic polymerization. The electroactivity of poly(I-co-Py) increased with the increasing amount of I in the comonomer mixture. Copolymer films were prepared via constant potential electrolysis in an electrolytic solution containing 0.1 M tetrabutylammonium hexafluorophosphate (TBAPF_6) dissolved in acetonitrile. The spectroelectrochemical properties of the films were investigated using UV-VIS spectroscopy.

A New Flame-Retardant Polyamide Containing Phosphine Oxide And N,N-(4,4-Diphenylether) Moieties In The Main Chain: Synthesis And Characterization, Khalil Faghihi

Turkish Journal of Chemistry

A new flame-retardant polyamide containing phosphine oxide moieties in the main chain was synthesized from the solution polycondensation reaction of bis(3-aminophenyl) phenyl phosphine oxide with N,N-(4,4-diphenylether) bis trimellitimide, using thionyl chloride, N-methyl-2-pyrolidone, and pyridine as condensing agents. This new polymer was obtained in high yield (92%), has high inherent viscosity (0.73 dL/g), and was characterized by elemental analysis, FT-IR spectroscopy, thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA and DTG), and solubility testing. Furthermore, another polyamide was prepared by the solution polycondensation reaction of N,N-(4,4-diphenylether) bis trimellitimide with 1,4-phenylene diamine, and its flame-retardant behavior was compared to that of the previous one.
