Onosma L., the largest genus of Boraginaceae, is represented by 105 species in Turkey with an endemism rate of 52%. Phytochemical studies indicate that Boraginaceae plants mainly comprise naphthoquinones with a wide range of biological activities including anticancer, antiinflammatory, wound healing, and antioxidant effects. However, few taxa of the genus Onosma have been investigated in detail for their bioactivities. This study deals with the data on Turkish records of oribatid mites that play an important role in decomposition of organic matter, nutrient cycling, and soil formation. Oribatid mites in litter, lichen, moss, and soil collected from Sakarya and Yozgat provinces were sampled between 2014 and 2020. Standard methods were used for extraction, detection, preservation, and preparation of mites from the material collected from study area. Ant Fauna (Hymenoptera: Formicidae) Of Central Anatolian Region Of Turkey, Kadri̇ Kiran, Celal Karaman

The Central Anatolian part of Turkey was investigated with the aim of determining its Formicidae fauna. Specimens were collected by hand sampling and pitfall traps in 24 habitats in 383 different localities in Central Anatolia Region during 2001-2016. As a result, 137 species belonging to 34 genera were determined. Messor incorruptus Kuznetsov-Ugamsky, 1929 and Ponera testacea Emery, 1895 are new records for Turkish ant fauna. We excluded four species, Camponotus sylvaticus (Oliver, 1792), Messor meridionalis (André, 1883), Proformica striaticeps (Forel, 1911) and Tapinoma nigerrimum (Nylander, 1856), from Turkish ant fauna due to recent taxonomic data and distribution pattern. The Harlequin Ladybird, Harmonia axyridis (Pallas, 1773), is native to Eastern Asia but it has been introduced to many countries in Africa, America, and Eurasia. In Turkey, H. axyridis is one of the most fast-spreading invasive alien species. Since the collection of the first specimens in 2010, H. axyridis spread almost all over the country. The species spreads fast in Turkey according to the new records, obtained originally from the field studies and the citizen science data. Capoeta kosswigi was described from Lake Van basin, Turkey, being close to C. damascina and C. umbla. It is distinguished from them by a pointed snout and a small horseshoe-shaped mouth, and differing from C. damascina by having smaller scales, and from the C. umbla by processing larger scales. In this study, we tested the suggested synonymy hypothesis of C. kosswigi and C. damascina by comparing the morphometric and meristic data. Background/aim: The aim of this study was to compare the clinical and sonographic effects of the ultrasound (US) therapy, extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT), and Kinesio taping (KT) in the lateral epicondylitis (LE). Materials and methods: A total of 40 patients with LE were included in the present study. The patients were randomly assigned to 3 treatment groups: US (n = 13), ESWT (n = 14), and KT (n = 13) groups. Results: The visual analog scale (VAS) scores significantly decreased in all groups (P < 0.05). Grip strength significantly increased after 8 weeks in only the KT group (P < 0.05). The Patient-Rated Tennis Elbow Evaluation Scale (PRTEE) scores significantly decreased after 2 weeks and after 8 weeks in the US group and ESWT groups, and after 8 weeks in the KT group (P < 0.05). Common extensor tendon (CET) thicknesses significantly decreased after 8 weeks in only the ESWT group (P < 0.05). Conclusion: The US therapy, KT, and ESWT are effective in reducing pain and improving functionality. However, none of these treatment methods were found to be superior to others in reducing the pain and improving functionality.

Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder Symptoms And Quality Of Life In Female Patientswith Fibromyalgia, Gözde Türkoğlu, Yavuz Selvi̇

Background/aim: The present study aimed to determine the association between attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) symptoms severity, fibromyalgia (FM) severity, and QoL. Materials and methods: While the FM group consisted of 113 (74%) patients, the control group consisted of 40 (26%) individuals. FM symptom severity, ADHD symptom severity, and QoL were evaluated using the fibromyalgia impact questionnaire (FIQ), adult ADHD self-report scale (ASRS), and World Health Organization quality of life scale-brief version (WHOQOL-BREF), respectively. Results: It was found that the FM group had significantly higher scores on the ASRS than the control group (p < 0.05). There was a significant difference in FIQ scores and three WHOQOL-BREF domain scores between the FM alone and comorbid FM/high probability of ADHD groups (p < 0.05). We found a negative correlation between ASRS total scores and all other scale scores (except for the social relationships domain score of the WHOQOL-BREF) and a positive correlation between ASRS total scores and FIQ scores in FM patients. ADHD scores would mediate the relationship between depression severity and QoL. Conclusions: Our findings indicated that the presence of ADHD symptoms was related to greater FM symptom severity and poorer QoL. Also, ADHD scores would mediate the relationship between depression severity and QoL.

This study aimed to evaluate the role of frailty in predicting readmission, length of stay, and quality of life in the hospitalized older adults. The current research was conducted on the fungal materials collected from Ankara, Balıkesir, and Kütahya provinces between 2015 and 2019. As a result of the field and laboratory studies, Conocybe dentatomarginata, Entoloma lampropus, Lactarius lilacinus, Otidea nannfeldtii and Sarcopeziza sicula are reported for the first time from Turkey based on macro- and micromorphological studies and internal transcribed spacer (ITS) rDNA-based molecular phylogeny. Descriptions of new records are provided together with photos showing their macro and micro-morphology.

The coupled tank system (comprising two tanks) is used in the chemical industries, water treatment plantsetc. Level control of the coupled tank system is a common problem in the process control industry. This work proposes afractional order internal model controller (FOIMC) with a higher order fractional filter for the level control of the coupledtank system. A first order plus delay time (FOPDT) model of the system is used in the controller design. FOIMC hasadvantages like robustness to changes in the system gain and extended stability margins.
