Gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) is currently considered to be an important stress metabolite with regulatory functions in plants. Exogenous GABA is known to be able to enhance the tolerance of different plant species to drought and salt stress. However, its effects on the functioning of stress-protective systems in triticale, an intergeneric wheat-rye hybrid with specific adaptation strategies to abiotic stresses, remained completely unstudied. We studied the effects of exogenous GABA (0.5 mM) on the growth as well as on the antioxidant and osmoprotective systems of triticale seedlings (cv. 'Rarytet') under simulated drought (15% PEG 6000), salt stress (100 mM NaCl), or …

Global crop yield and growth are severely impacted by hazardous heavy metal contamination of the soil and water. This study examined the effects on a range of physiological, biochemical, and morphological parameters of two canola (Brassica napus L.) cultivars, Punjab (V1) and Super (V2), when they were subjected to three different levels of cadmium (Cd) stress (0, 1.5, and 2.25 mM) and foliar application of biostimulant, i.e., Moringa leaf extract (MLE). Plants in V1 (Punjab) collect more Cd in both their aerial and subterranean sections than in V2 (Super). The morphological and physiological indicators showed a substantial (p < 0.05) deterioration as a result of the Cd buildup. Ascorbic acid and malondialdehyde (MDA) and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) were considerably (p < 0.05) elevated under Cd stress. V1 has considerably higher H2O2 values than Super (V2), which suggests that oxidative stress levels there are higher. Additionally, the activity of some antioxidant enzymes, such as catalase and peroxidase (65 and 40%, respectively), were reduced by a higher concentration of Cd (2.25 mM). V2 demonstrated stronger antioxidant defence mechanisms than V1, as seen by a 115% rise in POD activity, a 70% increase in shoot fresh weight, and a 49% increase in amino acids following MLE spray. Despite this, the V2 was still able to withstand Cd. Under Cd stress, foliar treatment of MLE increased both kinds' yield, growth, biochemical, and physiological characteristics. The findings indicated that applying MLE foliar spray can improve crop productivity and lessen the impacts of metals on B. napus L.

During the survey, which lastedfrom January to July 2023, we discovered that each type of sea turtle preferred nesting sites at specific hypothetical stations, except forthe L. olivacea, which nested at all hypothetical stations along Pancur-Cungur Coast. We also discovered that it is highly encouragedto continue relocations that have …

Small extracellular vesicles (SEVs) are known to have an impact on the physiological circumstances of the target cells, are a critical component of cell-to-cell communication and have been implicated in a variety of diseases. Although it has been proposed that edible plant-derived nanoparticles have effect on communication with mammalian cells, the influence of these nanoparticles on cancer cell development has yet to be explored. In order to characterize small extracellular vesicles obtained from garlic, specific SEV surface markers and antibodies and size detections were performed by using scanning electron microscopy and nanoparticle tracking analysis. Human hepatoma, Hep3B, human neuroblastoma SH-SY5Y, …

Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA)-starch-based bioplastics are widely used in many applications. pH-responsive plastic packaging was produced through the incorporation of senggani (Melastoma malabathricum Linn.) fruit extract into PVA-taro starch-based plastic packaging. The objective of this research was to examine the characteristics of senggani fruit extract under different pH conditions and explore its application as a pH indicator in intelligent packaging. The senggani fruit was extracted through the maceration method using a solvent comprising 96% ethanol and 3% citric acid, with a ratio of 85:15 (v/v). The senggani fruit extract solution underwent color changes, appearing pink at pH levels below 6, pale …
