A Study Of The Tubular Surfaces Constructed By Thespherical Indicatrices In Euclidean $3-$Space, Fatma Ateş, Erdem Kocakuşakli, İsmai̇l Gök, Yusuf Yayli
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
A basic goal of this paper is to investigate the tubular surface constructed by the spherical indicatrices of any spatial curve in the Euclidean $3-$ space. This kind of tubular surface is designed for the alternative moving frame $\{N,C,W\}$ in conjunction with finding a relationship between the tubular surfaces and their special curves, such as geodesic curves, asymptotic curves, and minimal curves. The minimal curve $\gamma $ on a surface is defined by the property that its fundamental coefficients satisfy Eq. (3.7) along the curve $\gamma $. At the end of this article, we exemplify these curves on the tubular …

Background/aim: It was aimed to evaluate the results of Rose Bengal (RB), ELISA total tests (IgM and IgG), and the Brucella Coombs gel test (BCGT), which are used as screening tests, with the combined results of a tube agglutination test (standard Wright test: SWT) and a tube agglutination test with antihuman globulin (AHG TAT). Materials and methods: Samples from 97 patients prediagnosed with brucellosis (age ≥18 years) were screened with RB, ELISA, and BCGT. SWT < 160 samples and RB-negative but ELISA- or BCGT-positive samples were tested by AHG TAT. SWT ≥ 160 or AHG TAT ≥ 160 was taken as reference. Results: Thirty-two of 56 RB-positive samples and one RB-negative but ELISA- and BCGT-positive sample were found to be ≥160 with SWT or AHG TAT. Sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, and agreement (kappa) values according to SWT ≥ 160 or AHG TAT ≥ 160 positivity were as follows, respectively: RB 96.9%, 62.5%, 74.2%, and 0.509; ELISA total 100%, 60.9%, 74.2%, and 0.515; BCGT test 97%, 70.3%, 79.4%, and 0.594. Conclusion: Sensitivities of the screening tests are similar, but positivities should be confirmed by more specific tests. Positive samples from screening tests should be tested with AHG if the SWT value is
Geometric Properties Of Rotation Minimizing Vector Fields Along Curves In Riemannian Manifolds, Fernando Etayo
Geometric Properties Of Rotation Minimizing Vector Fields Along Curves In Riemannian Manifolds, Fernando Etayo
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
Rotation minimizing (RM) vector fields and frames were introduced by Bishop as an alternative to the Frenet frame. They are used in CAGD because they can be defined even when the curvature vanishes. Nevertheless, many other geometric properties have not been studied. In the present paper, RM vector fields along a curve immersed into a Riemannian manifold are studied when the ambient manifold is the Euclidean 3-space, the hyperbolic 3-space, and a Kähler manifold.

Turkish Journal of Earth Sciences
The obliteration of the Neo-Tethyan Ocean and collision of the microplates along the northern part of Turkey led to the development of the İzmir-Ankara-Erzincan suture zone (IAESZ). After the collision of Pontides with the Central-Anatolian Crystalline Complex (CACC) in the Paleocene, a new phase of extension and volcanism concomitantly developed along the northern (Almus; Pontides) and southern (Yıldızeli; CACC) sides and along the IAESZ during the Middle Eocene time interval. The first products of the Middle Eocene volcanism in these areas are represented by calc-alkaline to alkaline (basic-intermediate) volcanic and volcanoclastic units together with late-stage trachytic dikes, plugs, and stocks. …

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences
The objective of this experiment was to evaluate the chemical composition, in situ ruminal degradation kinetics, and protein fractions of subsieve dry beans (DB), chickpeas (CCP), red lentils (RL), and green lentils (GL). Four samples of those legumes were utilized as replicates and were incubated for up to 48 h in the rumen of 3 rams. RL and CCP had higher organic matter (OM) than DB and GL. Crude protein (CP) was the highest in GL (P < 0.05). Ether extract (EE) concentrations were higher in CCP and DB compared to those of RL and GL (P < 0.05). Crude fiber (CF), acid detergent fiber (ADF), and neutral detergent fiber (NDF) contents were the highest in RL (P < 0.05). The acid insoluble nitrogen (ADIN-N) content was similar in all samples evaluated. While RL had the lowest OM and CP degradability and water-soluble OM and CP concentrations, DB and CCP had the highest potentially degradable OM and CP contents at the end of the 48 h incubation period (P < 0.05). Escaped protein content was the highest in RL and the lowest in DB (P < 0.05). In conclusion, some of the pulse species that are produced locally and not suitable for human consumption can be used in the diet of ruminant animals as a source of protein based on OM and CP degradabilities and escape protein contents.

The Effect Of Green Tea Waste Extract On Ruminal Degradability And Intestinal Digestibility Of Barley Grain, Mohammad Nasehi, Nor Mohammad Torbatinejad, Morteza Rezaie, Taghi Ghoorchi
Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences
This study was conducted to investigate the effects of different levels of green tea waste extract (GE) on ruminal degradability and intestinal digestibility of dry matter (DM), crude protein (CP), and starch of barley grain. Therefore, barley grain was treated with 0 as control, and 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20% of GE. The potential of DM degradability (a + b) of barley grain treated with 15% and 20% of GE was significantly lower compared to other treatments (Linear [L] P < 0.05). The lowest (a + b) fraction of CP degradability was found in the barley grain treated with 20% GE (L P < 0.05). The (a + b) fraction and effective degradability of starch in barley grain treated with 15% and 20% of GE were significantly lower than those in other treatments (L and quadratic [Q] P < 0.05). The highest intestinal DM, CP, and starch digestibility were associated with barley grain treated with 10% GE (L and Q P < 0.05). Based on recent results, processing barley grain with GE leads to a decrease of DM, CP, and starch degradability. The treatment of 10% GE improved intestinal digestibility of the aforementioned nutrients; therefore, it can be used to protect barley grain against ruminal degradability.

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences
The α-tocopherol (TCP) state as well as enzymatic (superoxide dismutase [SOD] and catalase [CAT]) and nonenzymatic (reduced glutathione [GSH] and retinol) antioxidants in tissues of American minks (Neovison vison) given various levels of dietary vitamin E were examined. Three groups of farm-bred minks received different amounts of DL-α-tocopheryl acetate (10 mg/kg diet, control; 30 and 110 mg/kg diet, treatments denoted as E30 and E110, respectively) for 14 days in November. The TCP content was raised substantially in the kidneys and reduced in the livers of minks in the E110 group. The action of the 2 vitamin E doses on antioxidants …
