Grass silage is an important factor in the livestock industry because it furnishes a high quality succulent feed at a low cost. As it is known today, silage came be made from nearly any grass, legume or cereal crop. The legumes are particularly valuable because the produce a silage which has a high nutritive value. The retention of plant nutrients such as carotene and protein, is of utmost concern in the production of silage. The preservation of these forage nutrients is brought about by the fermentation reaction within the silage mass. The lactic acid bacteria that are found on the …

SDSU Extension Circulars
COMMUNITY SERVICE ••• that's what happens when your club, your neighborhood, community groups and local government work together to build your community into the kind of place you want it to be. The parks and playgrounds, churches, schools and hospitals that serve a community don't just happen. . Leaders interested in community service were necessary to help create these facilities. In a democracy, such voluntary leadership helps make and keep us strong. When you take a small step in community service you are on the road to becoming a community leader.

Effects Of Antibiotics In Swine Rations, Richard C. Wahlstrom, Robert W. Seerley
Effects Of Antibiotics In Swine Rations, Richard C. Wahlstrom, Robert W. Seerley
South Dakota Swine Field Day Proceedings and Research Reports, 1960
The use of antibiotics and certain other antibacterial agents in rations for growing swine has been hailed as one of the most important developments in swine nutrition in the last ten years. Although the use of antibiotics has become quite commonplace in swine rations, their continuous use in swine feeds has raised the question as to whether an antibiotic loses some of its effectiveness when fed continuously in a swine feeding program. The object of this experiment was to determine the effect on rate of gain and feed efficiency of some of the newer antibiotics in relation to an antibiotic …

Factors Contributing To And Affecting The Cellulose Digestibility Of Pelleted Roughage, John Russell Jahn
Factors Contributing To And Affecting The Cellulose Digestibility Of Pelleted Roughage, John Russell Jahn
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
The transition to the pelleting of natural feeding materials has produced many problems. Various opinions have been expressed by the investigators regarding possible solutions to these problems. The proper mechanical formation of the pellet or wafer has been studied by several investigators. Several necessary factors have been determined. The temperature ranges that will produce the best possible product, from a feeding standpoint, have been tested against various pressures. The fineness of grinding or chopping have also been considered, as they relate to the digestibility and economy of the finished product. Moisture and adhesive agents have been considered in determining what …
