Agricultural Experiment Station and Research Farm Annual Reports
This report marks the completion of the second year of research at this farm. Experimental work was continued in the areas of fertility and cultural practices, plant disease control, crop management, and crop variety testing. Investigations were expanded into corn plant populations, potassium deficiency, plant breeding and genetic studies on corn, grasses, legumes, sorghum and soybeans. Livestock research was initiated in the spring of 1962 when 106 feeder pigs were placed in three temporary buildings constructed for this purpose. Results of this trial are summarized in this report. Ninety(90) fall pigs have been started as a continuation of this experiment.

SDSU Extension Circulars
Most county extension agents spend between one-third and one-half of their time in the office. The office is the headquarters of extension work in the county. Help yourself and the Cooperative Extension Service by seeing that your office is operated as efficiently as possible. Many people judge extension work by the looks of the office and the way they are treated there.

The Dakota Indian Community: An Analysis Of The Non-Ranching Population Of The Pine Ridge Reservation, V. D. Malan, E. L. Schusky
The Dakota Indian Community: An Analysis Of The Non-Ranching Population Of The Pine Ridge Reservation, V. D. Malan, E. L. Schusky
Research Bulletins of the South Dakota Agricultural Experiment Station (1887-2011)
This analysis has been organized into three main subdivisions. The first section is a brief statistical analysis of the total reservation population based on data gathered by the Bureau of Indian Affairs for a 1956 reservation census. The population analysis includes age and education, occupational data, and income information.
The differences among the communities included in this study are discussed in the second subdivision. Although all of the communities were regarded as non-ranching groups, one of the surprising findings was that there are some significant differences between one group and another.

Food Dollars And Sense, Ruth B. Amidon
SDSU Extension Circulars
Having enough money to "eat as you please" is no assurance of an adequate diet. Dollars spent for food without a consideration of food and health needs of the family are dollars spent without "sense." The purpose here is not to propose spending less money for food but to discover how to get more value for the money spent. The "Basic Four Food Guide" has been devised to make choosing an adequate well balanced diet easy for anyone. The variety of foods with-in each group makes it possible to choose a well balanced diet to suit almost any taste or …
