The factors associated with sedation tolerance have been explored through research projects. There are none in the literature examining the impact of cannabis use on sedation in the veteran population. Combining diabetic education and exercise sessions with provider visits engages the patient-provider dyad in holistic management that addresses standards of care. Participants demonstrated statistically significant decreases in hemoglobin A1C, blood pressure, and LDL. This replicable, cost-effective, efficacious healthcare delivery model maximizes provider impact, while fostering mutually-beneficial relationships in underserved populations.

Improving support for bereaved populations in hospitals is a priority in palliative care. Bereavement risks are not routinely assessed in hospitals, creating gaps in policy and practice. Using the clinical microsystems approach to quality improvement, a bereavement risk assessment tool was selected and implemented in a hospital setting.

This poster presents the feasibility and methods of sampling hair for cortisol concentration in high-risk mother-toddler dyads. We approached 142 low-income, urban-dwelling mothers living in the Midwest for consent to cut approximately 150 hairs from the posterior vertex of the scalp from themselves and their toddler; 94 dyads participated.

Antianxiety and hypnotic medications are used commonly in the elderly. Reminiscence therapy (RT) is an effective intervention to decrease anxiety. Barriers to the use of RT are explored.
