Polyethylene oxide (PEO)-based solid composite electrolytes (SCEs), with inorganic fillers, are studied extensively due to their effective balance between mechanical and electrochemical properties. The correlation between the composition of SCEs and their electrochemical behavior has been studied extensively, primarily focusing on the type of polymer matrix with a bias towards high lithium (Li) salt. Every individual has a fundamental right to communicate and access equal opportunities to fully participate in society. However, this right may not be fully manifested for individuals with communication access needs especially those from underrepresented groups. This project had two aims, to determine 1) the specific experiences, challenges, and aspirations related to the cultural identities of people of color (POC) who use augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) and 2) how AAC service providers and manufacturers can support POC AAC users in a culturally and linguistically responsive manner. Applicative Recursion And Nominal Licensing, Yining Nie

Languages with applicative morphology vary in whether their applied arguments can stack, or “recurse.” Focusing primarily on Bantu languages, I argue that the availability of applicative recursion in a given language depends on abstract nominal licensing ⎯in particular, on whether the applicative heads responsible for introducing applied arguments are nominal licensers. Applicative recursion therefore provides a novel diagnostic for the presence of abstract nominal licensing, which is argued to be driven not by Case but by ϕ-feature checking. The proposed approach to applicative recursion provides evidence for the role of abstract licensing in Bantu languages and has implications for approaches …

The study investigated challenges facing the utilization of mobile telephony in learning in some selected higher institutions of learning in Nigeria. The study adopted a descriptive survey using questionnaire to collect data. The population of the study consist of 355 students which were randomly picked from some selected higher institutions of learning in Nigeria. A total of the 355questionnaires were distributed only 309 were retrieved. Descriptive statistics, (mean and percentage) were used for analysis. This study investigated ICT skills and electronic information resource (EIRs) utilization among undergraduate sandwich students in Nigerian universities. The study employed a descriptive survey design. Six hundred sandwich students in 4 public universities in South-west Nigeria were randomly selected for the study. A close-ended questionnaire was used for data collection. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used for data analysis. The study found that the students have a high level of ICT skills and low EIR utilization. Food allergies are associated with stress and anxiety in college students. This research study aims to explore the findings of students with known food allergies and their perspectives on how one large urban university campus dining service accommodates their dietary needs. The study utilized a mixed-methods approach, and a non-probability, purposive sampling was used for a campus-wide online self-reported survey from August to October 2023. The survey included twenty close-ended and open-ended questions about the student’s food allergy attitudes, self-management, and barriers to on-campus dining services. This study presents a novel reanalysis dataset of dead fuel moisture content (DFMC) across California from 2000 to 2020 at a 2 km resolution. Utilizing a data assimilation system that integrates a simplified time-lag fuel moisture model with 10-h fuel moisture observations from remote automated weather stations (RAWS) allowed predictions of 10-h fuel moisture content by our method with a mean absolute error of 0.03 g/g compared to the widely used Nelson model, with a mean absolute error prediction of 0.05 g/g. For context, the values of DFMC in California are commonly between 0.05 g/g and 0.30 g/g. The presented …

This research explores the application of two different probe data standards to transit performance measurement. The first section chronicles the proposed and implemented transit uses of dedicated short-range communication (DSRC) technologies during the two decades between the standard’s emergence and its announced sunset. The research finds that, despite proposed applications across safety, operation, and information domains, DSRC never became embedded in transit operations. By contrast, the general transit feed specification (GTFS) standard with its real-time (RT) extension has been widely embraced and offers the potential to use the associated VehiclePosition messages as probe data to generate detailed transit performance metrics. …

This study investigates the degree to which underrepresented construction contractors face challenges in California's zero-emission transportation sector to devise a simpler and more efficient bonding structure. Using a survey dispersed over underrepresented businesses across the state, the study provides several suggestions for a statewide bonding program that caters to the needs of contractors. Both qualitative and quantitative methods are used in the study. The survey data are evaluated using econometric tools to analyze whether there are any statistically significant associations between contractors' characteristics and their industry experiences. They are doing so to mitigate sprawl's negative fiscal, environmental, social, and physical impacts, strengthen land use-housing-transportation linkages, and develop at densities needed for well-functioning public transit. Some states, such as California, have gone a step further by linking compact urban infill development as critical to meeting greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction targets. Studies in the collective motility of organisms use a range of analytical approaches to formulate continuous kinetic models of collective dynamics from rules or equations describing agent interactions. However, the derivation of these kinetic models often relies on Boltzmann's “molecular chaos” hypothesis, which assumes that correlations between individuals are short-lived. While this assumption is often the simplest way to derive tractable models, it is often not valid in practice due to the high levels of cooperation and self-organization present in biological systems. Past research on subjective well-being (SWB) in Western society and China has revealed various contributing factors. This study conducted a series of interviews with Chinese urban residents to systematically analyze those factors based on Bronfenbrenner’s Ecological System Theory. The results revealed that 5 layers, 23 factors, and 55 elements, many of which had distinct Chinese characteristics, contributed to Chinese urban residents’ SWB. The Top Model of SWB, visualized as a spinning top or gyroscope, showcased the interdependent layers of factors impacting Chinese urban residents’ SWB. Language identity, an understudied factor, can influence isolation and discrimination, leading to disparities in well-being and mental health among immigrants. This study aims to investigate the role of language identity on structural racism and discrimination among 1.5 generation Asian/Asian American immigrants in a diverse U.S. state. We present Hubble Space Telescope ACS/WFC and WFC3/UVIS imaging for a sample of 50 low-surface brightness (LSB) galaxies in the ∼ 1015 M☉ Perseus cluster, which were originally identified in ground-based imaging. We measure the structural properties of these galaxies and estimate the total number of globular clusters (GCs) they host. Around half of our sample galaxies meet the strict definition of an ultra-diffuse galaxy (UDG), while the others are UDG-like but are either somewhat more compact or slightly brighter. A small number of galaxies reveal systems with many tens of GCs, rivalling some of the richest GC systems known …
